This is one of my most anticipated sets of the whole weekend. I was hoping we'd get Neil Young, but I never expected we'd be getting Buffalo Springfield.

Definitely a once in a lifetime kind of show. When the hell else am I going to ever hear Buffalo Springfield again? I'm thinking the same thing about Dr. John with the Original Meters, and Dr. John with Dan Auerbach. I've wanted to see Dr. John for years and those pairings are shows that may not happen again. I'm a little scared to find out what they're put up against.
I would doubt there will be any of Neil's famous one note solos during Buffalo Springfield, they are going for an accurate reproduction of the songs. He didn't discover that particular technique until about 71-72.

C'monnn man. I normally stay out of these things, but I gotta throw the flag on that one. "Cinnamon Girl" was recorded in 1969 and is THE definitive Neil one-note solo.
I love Neil. I just really really really love Buffalo Springfield.
I kind of don't understand this. Neil's solo/Crazy Horse material is some of the deepest in any artist's catalog.
Of the (many) interesting parts of Jimmy McDonough's biography of Neil Young is where he discusses how some of his most hardcore fans only appreciate the acoustic/folk stuff and loathe the Crazy Horse material, or visa versa

Stephen Stills played a lot of the leads didn't he?
Yes, Stills and Young both played lead alternately and primarily depending on who wrote the song. Bluebird would actually feature Stills since he wrote it while NY wrote Mr. Soul.
BS didn't seem to do any songwriting collaboratively. Stills, Young and Furay were the creative juices but they all did their own thing.

Yeah, that's how it's always felt.
I think that's why Last Time Around fit so well despite being practically a three person solo album.

I just listened to all 3 BS albums in a row, again. Every song is brilliant, I can't freakin wait! I was brought up listening to this band, but I never thought I'd have the chance to see them!
The other day my friends and I listened to Buffalo Springfield and Buffalo Springfield Again, then we listened to Buffalo Springfield and Buffalo Springfield Again again.

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I thought they'd be on the What stage......but I've been wrong about Flaming Lips and Nine Inch Nails being on the What stage for the past few years.......so it makes sense I was wrong about this.
a completely unopposed (main five stages) which stage act? sounds pretty crowded to say the very least. but lets admit it, although we all love the idea of buffalo springfield, johnny popculture wont be at this show. still should be fucking crowded as fuck

Hokay, I didn't read through all 11 pages because I'm "working", but I would really prefer CSNY over BS. My best childhood memories are associated with CSNY/ Neil Young and I would love to hear some "Harvest Moon" and "Southern Cross" and "Our House" and "49 Bye-Byes" and my emotional connection song list continues forever.... For some reason my Dad's BS appreciation didn't go past "For What it's Worth" which means MY music catalog was never filled with BS. I feel like I need to start listening to them ASAP to really get a full appreciation for the situation I'm about to be in. WHAT DOES EVERYONE RECOMMEND?!?! Best album? Best songs? etc?
Who cares if someone is on a "bandwagon"...I honestly just feel SO grateful that I get to see anyone from CSNY with anyone from CSNY that I'm SO excited to see BS. I'm 25, and I've literally been dreaming about an experience like this for 20 years...even if I won't know any of their songs. Maybe the dreamer in me is hoping they will just play CSNY songs for some reason...
