I would kill to see Buffalo Springfield on the farm. It's the only thing that Bonnaroo could do to match Hangout for me at this point. The only thing I like as much as Paul Simon is Buffalo Springfield.
WTF is with this demand for Buffalo Springfield? I know they reunited for a show or 2 but I'd rather just have Neil Young. It's such random band to get excited for, would you be as excited for Them or James Gang? B/c they're about on the same level of importance in classic rock. If we're doing 1960's groups that weren't one of the giants but still noteworthy I gun more for The Yardbirds or Blue Cheer

Believe it or not, this isn't actually a trend for some of us. Buffalo Springfield Again is legitimately one of my favorite albums, if not my favorite album, of the 1960s. I don't really care about importance when it comes to shows.
As for preferring Neil Young solo, well, I've seen Neil Young solo. As long as Neil Young is around you will be able to see Neil Young solo. This probably won't happen again (see the Cream reunion) and I'd like to see them while I can.
Now I'm not going to deny that there are probably some band wagoners out there, but "not I," said the cat.

I believe that Buffalo Springfield, coming from David Crsoby, said they'd be ready to tour in the fall, and he'd love to be there. They've already done two shows with 12-13 songs and can clearly do a one-off if needed. If Neil comes on and really plays a handful of BS hits (4-5) with them, then Neil plays some of his own (maybe with some guests), and CSN come out for the end for another handful of hits (Crosby and Nash tour ends late may in CT)...I can see it as "a once-in-a-lifetime show" that could have come together last minute since it was crosby who spilled the beans on the report so recently
Remember, the BS reunion had Neil's longtime bassist and CSN's drummer, the band is basically set
Doesn't everybody deserve to have the good life? -Dave Matthews Diaraby Magni. -Vieux Farka Toure Nature is the infrastructure of our society. -Roo sign The Road goes on forever and the Party never ends. -Robert Earl Keen That was ridiculous! -Mayer Hawthorne Hopefully this will cool things off. -Dr. Dog, leading into "The Breeze" We're in the middle of our one day tour here. -Jack Black

I'm really way more in to the idea of just a Buffalo Springfield set.
It'd be awesome if they just played BSA all the way through plus a few tunes from the first album.
I don't count the third album, as it was basically just a four person solo album. They didn't even all play on most of the tracks on that one.
I'd love to have BS on the farm. My problem is they would have to be a friday band and that is already full (we've been told). I don't see them as a saturday band even as something rare. It doesn't look right.
Buffalo Springfield/Arcade Fire/Widespread Panic
That doesn't, to me, equate 80k tickets, reguardless of the rareness. On the same note
Neil Young & Crazy Horse/Arcade Fire/Widespread Panic
That would sell the tickets, I think.
Again I'd love to see them but I have to thnk it will be on tour.

Yea but nobody looks at just the top 3 acts when buying a ticket. That's why they release the majority of the lineup before selling tickets.....not just the headliners. Yes, the top 3 are important but you can't assume that 80k tickets are being sold solely on the headliners.
I would be cool with this, for sure... but I'd prefer Neil solo or CSNY. I feel like I've said this before.
I've said this in other threads, but that while not probable, it's totally possible that they could easily do a Buffalo Springfield/CN/CSN/CSNY. Hell, if they can get Roger McGuinn to play ball, they could do The Byrds > Buffalo Springfield > CSNY > Buffalo Springbyrds super jam
Would I rather see Neil Young solo, or CSNY? Ofcourse. But I will settle for any band as long as Neil Young is on the farm. It could be him and Devo and I will still be pumped.
As for Rush, no thanks. Not for me. Don't get mad Canada
Dude, Devo with Neil Young would be one of the best things Bonnaroo could ever book.
And, while I think Rush would be a good show, I'm about prog'd out at this point in time, and they'd be among the last I'd like to see of the classics.

Fair enough. I don't think they would go that route BUT I'm thinking I maybe wrong this time around.
Either way Neil is on the farm and that alone is good enough for me.

I for one am totally stoked for the possibility of seeing Buffalo Springfield...This could be a deciding factor in getting me back to the Farm for the first time since 07.

I second the comment about headliners not being the only bands that sell tickets. Not to mention, if you add someone like Eminem in the top 4 you bring in a very different crowd and sell a lot more tickets. I'm not here to say Eminem or whoever the rap HL ends up being is good, I'm just saying that they will sell tickets.

I'll repeat what I said elsewhere.
I don't understand the rabid demand for Buffalo Springfield. They have some great music, but when you boil it down they're simply a one-hit-wonder that no one would care about today had they not started the much more successful solo careers of Neil Young and Stephen Stills.
By that logic Robert Plant & the BOJ should headline, because that's the band that started the careers of Robert Plant and John Bonham before Zeppelin.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
