I mean, obviously to each his own. But i think thats exactly what doesn't work about his music. To me dupstep is supposed to be this really hard, heavy music. And he doesn't have a hard/heavy sound, its just wobble.
When he first came out i heard stuff and thought, word a little more depth then deadmau5, less housey. a little like wolfgang gartner. Then came all the dubstep and it totaly ruined him for me. I feel like most dubstep in general is too forced and is just done for the novelty of the wobble sound, so theres that too
You guys know that there is dubstep out there that doesn't use wobble bass at all, right? I know arguing genres is silly, but seriously. Dubstep doesn't always = wobble.
I've heard exceptions to this, but generally I feel dubstep without the wobble is boring. I <3 wobble
And why was this thread moved? Skrillex is a popular name right now, totally reasonable 'want' for roo. Just because a mod never heard of them shouldnt be grounds for moving the discussion

That's fine, I enjoy some wobble myself now and then, but like... there is literally TONS of dubstep without wobble. It's not just an exception.

I was unclear, sorry. I didnt mean dubstep without wobble is an exception to the rule. I meant that generally I think dubstep without the wobble is boring. But there are exceptions to that (that all non-wobble dubstep is boring). I.e. I like james blake

I've seen him twice. Both times he just plays track by track (has noooo clue how to mix, just hits play on his laptop) and just crowd surfs. Basically he is a jukebox of his own tunes. Whatever, I can do that at home. Some of his tracks are cool, but there is way better sounding dubstep out there.
By this time next year Skrillex will be just as much a joke as Justin Beiber. Now if only more people would realize that Sigh No More is the best drink coaster since No Strings Attached...
Then again Skrillex appears totally appropriate for this years undercard. Here's to '12
wow this is funny. made this post 2 years ago and before anyone knew who he was and just heard his music, they loved him. then he gets popular, people start critiquing, and boom, mass hatred, lol.
i was really hoping to find a post from NoD saying he loved him in 2010.

There were people hating on him since page one, don't know what thread you were reading.

If people disliked Skrillex because he was popular, how would you explain Daft Punk?

If Daft Punk had been touring all over the US, and played at every festival since 2007 the haters would be out in full force. They are popular, but a hard act to catch in the US, therefore the haters can then talk about how they saw them and you did not.
