Michael Sheen is the only British person of I can think of in the Tron movie... he was also in a short film in 2007 called Airlock Or How To Say Goodbye In Space www.michael-sheen.co.uk/career/82.html Interesting... idk, I would love if it was Daft Punk though!

The thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word "cast" is like "casting" for a fish...dunno how it relates to either clue though. Not trying to throw anyone off track, just another angle.
Given the reference to eastern religion/guru, I can't help but wonder if the repeated use of the word "cast" may be a reference to the Hindu caste system.
Also, with all of the movie "cast" guessing (along with the possibility of a double meaning) I immediately think of MIA and her soundtrack work for Slumdog Millionaire. May be way off, but who knows. . .

Im trying to work with a common element between clues 3 and 1... using cast and guru which seem to be key words.
I took what I believe is the #1 guess for clue 1 = STS9 (sound tribe sector 9)
looking for common threads in the name I came up with A tribe called quest... but then deferred to the #9... which certainly would be a cast of musicians..
And then I realized that Wu-tang had 9 original members, and they're all rap guru's, and heavily influenced by the 'shaolin' style. they were also just on tour for about a month through and astronauts drink TANG...
yeah i know its stretchy but there's something about this clue thats leading my thinking into some sort of pivotal rap/hip hop group... though I do like pretty lights...
I'm surprised no one guessed neon trees yet? An xmas tree usually stays up a month or two after xmas and is usually full of lights... dont call my priest... ehh i could stretch that in... but "just call my guru" doesn't really make a lot of sense with that... unless the dude from neon trees is like taoist or something... anyone care to pick up my ball of perpetual thought?

Here's something anecdotal though I don't expect it directly relates to our clue's band. I was looking at International Space Station crews and there was a launch on December 15, so they've been up there one month plus. Among these three astronauts is Catherine Coleman who is in an all astronaut band known as Bandella. How cool would it be to have the NASA house band on hand at the farm this summer.

I like plasticpepper's idea about levitation. Pixies originally came to my mind, but they're kind of big to be a clue this early (maybe). That could mean it's MIA. She samples the pixies in 20 dollar. Plus she was at roo 08 and released a new album last summer and a new mix tape a few days ago, so it's not a stretch to see her there

So elements, fire, water, earth and air. Fire creates smoke. Could they both be off the Up In Smoke tour? That had a cast. So maybe both artists bands where off that tour? Spit balling here.
"still up" could refer to a ship or boat, which they mention a lot in some songs, or even "float on" or the balloon on the cover of We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. a month now, maybe two: not too sure about this other than it gives the tone of a long drawn out journey or voyage and We Were Dead Before the ship Even Sank is a reference to Moby Dick. "don't call the priest": Isaac Brock's wikipedia mentions how Modest Mouse song has many religious references but he thinks that Christianity is "a crock of shit" guru: Ishmael is the narrator in Moby Dick but it's also the name of a wise gorilla in the Daniel Quinn novel. Or maybe it's referring to the Pequoid, which is named after a Native American tribe.
As for the "cast" idea: Isaac Brock was part of the cast in Christmas on Mars but he wasn't shown in the final movie cut.....but that involves Christmas.
Hi guys! I actually had an account, but for some reason can't remember any of my log in info, so I'm starting over. I can go some terrible places with clues 1 and 3, and because I'm unfotunately awake with an 8 month old who detests sleep, I'll try to amuse you as much as I've amused myself. If what they're thinking for clue #1 is correct, that a cast member of Apollo 13 is playing the 'roo, we'll say Bacon Bros. Band, just for fun. Could it be that the 'element' that's the same would be another Ron Howard cast member that also has a band?? (Here's where the fun starts...) According to the little bit I've read, Sirius, the brightest star in the sky disappears for awhile, but reappears in late November. This would make it 'up now. A month now, maybe two.' Anybody wanna know what the nickname of Sirius is?? The "Dogstar." (oh yes, fun, fun) Keanu Reeves starred in Parenthood. Ron Howard. He was in Constantine, where they had a priest on set for the movie. He was also set to star in a movie, 'Hanuman' that had Hindus worried because they were afraid that he would smear the reputation of their religion. Priest... Guru. Okay, I know it's not Dogstar, but it was fun while it lasted.
Not sure how to get to the answers for Clues 1 & 3 from there, but it seems that is the connection between the two that was alluded to
Yeah, I know Howard is the connection. I meant I can't see how the Grinch fits or can lead us anywhere. I've looked over the entire cast. Saw that Eddie Murphy and Jack Nicholson were considered for the role, etc.

I dont think that we have to go through the Grinch for the answer, I could easily be wrong though. Since Ron Howard is our connection we just have to find a way to tie him to the clue, to get on track for the answer, I think.

OK, I follow. I was looking to much into the hint. I suck at this.

We need to list all the hints that Gary gives us on the first page with the clue. We should do that with each clue so it will be easier to connect them together.
