The Jomfru brothers were threatening to upload a song that was supposedly "exclusive" for Dethklok fan day and was not to be released to the general public, thus giving the song a trip into cyberspace. But when one jomfru brother gets shot in the head, his brother then, somehow, escapes, presumably not uploading the song. The "watershed moment otherwise" is how that instance changed him from his "Die for Dethklok" allegiance to the revengencers, a group wanting to kill dethklok...
I figured I'd take one of the bands and see if I could make it fit the clue. Maybe it will spark someone's imagination or maybe it's a waste of time. I'm just trying to think like the clue givers. This should go over well.
Silversun A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise
Gary steered us toward Apollo 13/Ron Howard in direct responses to Natedog and Riburroo's posts. So we have a silver spacecraft named after Apollo the Sun God.
Silver Sun is an Australian Kids show about the remnants of the human race on a journey through space to find a new planet to inhabit.
Pickups A watershed moment otherwise.
The Apollo program preformed Splashdown spacecraft landings. Here is a pic from a pickup in the mid-70s. If I ever reenter the Earth's atmosphere and landed in the Pacific Ocean. I'd probable consider that an important transition in my life.
This thread reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day.
According to their wiki: A remix of "Lazy Eye" by Adam Freeland was featured on his compilation Global Underground 032: Mexico City.[9] It can also be heard on The O.C. Season 4, "The Groundhog Day".

Why is this still being debated? Sounds like it has to be Dethklok. He gave it to us with the def/deth tweet...
Hate to throw out another band but has Deftones ever been mentioned? Through that tweet it's getting loud and the fact they're a metal band, could be an answer to the clue.

They got brought up a good while ago, they've been eliminated already.

Augh, I'm so confused by now! I lost track of how we ruled everything out so I'll have to go reread stuff at some point, but if there seems to be a general consensus that we're down to either Silversun Pickups or Dethklok, I'll trust you guys on that.
And I agree that we won't get any further than that. Just like on clue #2, if we're actually down to two options there's not really any way Gary can help us narrow it down further without giving it away.
And just like I said then - if we manage to narrow every clue down to two artists, I'll be thrilled!
I'm a huge fan of the show, and I can't really tie it to the show. I'm pretty sure there was an episode about them doing a show in space for an album release party, but I'm also pretty sure it was successful. I'm confident it's Dethklok because of the tweet but I'm not really a hundred percent on the actual tie-in to the clue. I'll watch some episodes later and see what I can dig up.
I'm really not confident that tweet was meant to be a confirmation of Dethklok.
Agreed. I just don't see how Dethklok goes with the hint or clues, outside of being a metal band. Someone's going to have to make a more convincing case.
Plus, I tweeted Gary if I was on the right track regarding my list on page 60. Dethklok was in my 5 likely answers. I also asked if I should keep looking into Scandinavia metal. I got no response. Which leads me to believe he bypassed that list because I had the right answer crossed out.
Gary asked for the reasoning behind them after the "awfully loud" tweet.
This tread is a ridiculous!

dethklok is actually looking really good...whats the reasoning behind silversun pickups?
The analysis earlier seemed awesome, jumfru borthers, stealing the song and uploading it to cyber"space", one getting killed (speckled demise) and the other completely changing his ways (watershed moment...in the last episode of the 3rd season we see hes working with Charles)
plus the other hints about it being a metal band, "going def...or deth"

Has 'The Who' been ruled out for clue #1? Cause i was thinking... Keith MOON's early demise??? A MAJOR loss but The Who still went on to be epic. (And they are getting ready to tour.)
And I also thought maybe... Roger WATERShed...??? (and of course "Dark Side of the Moon.)
(And out of sheer desperation and hope.... could it somehow be 'The Rolling Stones' based on the connection to The Who because of the movie (i think a move maybe audio}that they did with 'The Who' but never released it because (with Keith Moon still living) The Stones felt too upstaged by The Who's performance and pulled the plug on it.) idk Am i thinking too big? But i mean..... it is the 10th anniversary and all.
Gary Chardonnay I've seen the right answer, but I believe it was discarded. RT @megankristenn: garychardonnay has there been an answer for clue #1 yet?
Guys
It's not Dethklok or Silversun. Back to "The list"
