Well, Katie's not ignoring us, but she's not giving hints either. This is from her Twitter earlier today: katieontheair Katie Cauthen For the record, I have no hints for you right now about Clue #1. But I can tell you Clue #2 will drop around 2PM EST tomorrow on #rooradio!
I don't see that quote anywhere on her twitter....

Ain't no thang . Hopefully tomorrow's clue will be solved before we get the third one!

To me it sounds like she is not controlling the clues rather she is just posting them and at this time she has been given no other info on the first clue? I think we need to stop beating her up and just wait for the lineup or to be told we are right...these pages are now just being filled with how displeased people are with her. Why not be happy we are getting clues and make her want to keep her job? quack quack quack...

completely agree... no reason to hate on katie.. except she does have the dream job of 90% of the people reading this
really though, DJJD is looking pretty awesome by comparison.... somehow i doubt anyone will be heading to any bathroom stalls for answers this year...
Other than the speckled lad part of the clue this makes a lot of sense.
I found out the L.A.D stands for- Liquid Acquisition Device, a device used in spacecraft and rockets to collect liquid propellants in weightlessness . could this be what delayed STS-9's its flight?
This could suggest Apollo but it more directly refers to the astronaut Ken Mattingly. The mission itself wasn't thwarted, but his was.
I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but in the US, the term "watershed" also refers to the areas of land that drain into a particular body of water (aka a drainage basin). outside the US, the term refers to a drainage divide. The term "watershed moment" means something very different, but this might be a misidrection.
didn't djjd confirm some answers in the past? I forget
some of them, i believe... and the ones he didnt confirm, he would at least give us guess elimination hints
as far as confirmations...djjd would tell us that we had guessed the correct answer... but without saying what the correct answer was... but i dont reme, ber any rumour EVER being "officialy" confirmed... even after the lineups were released

not sure where i'm going with this but a synonym for speckled is flecked. could it be bela fleck and the flecktones? not sure if it's been mentioned or how it plays into the rest of the clue. isn't one of their members named spaceman or something?

His name is Futureman, not a bad idea though, it could work
How involved were these clues in the past? For some reason I can only remember the insanly easy clues like the "hard substance, soft substance" (Iron and Wine). Just seems like everyone is diggin way deep on this, when the clues I recall were right in front of your face.
Dead Kennedys or N.A.S.A honestly seem the most likely here.

Holy wow. Just finished reading through everything you guys have posted today. 43 pages! Sheesh.
And um, I'd like to remind us all of a few things. And let me start by saying I really hope this doesn't come off as me being a jerk or negative or trying to stop anyone from sharing their opinion, because that's really not my intent. But let's keep in mind...
1. As someone mentioned earlier, we're not entitled to ANYTHING. It's awesome that they're giving us clues at all. If they give us any hints, that's even more awesome. But you really can't act like they're screwing up just because they decide to change the way they're doing that (or stop altogether). 2. If you don't like the clues, or think this is stupid, or think we're never going to figure anything out...you really, really don't have to be here. Especially since the mods were nice enough to give us a subforum so we could get out of everyone else's way. A ton of posts just saying this is dumb aren't going to help anything, and it only makes this harder. 3. Even when DJJD was running this show, he couldn't confirm or deny anything. Yes, he sometimes told us that we had a clue solved, but we didn't necessarily know which of our guesses was right. Sometimes we were so sure it was one thing and turned out not to be. So chances are no amount of involvement from Katie is really gonna close this case. 4. I know it's cool to feel like you're the one who solved a clue, and that's why I make sure the guesses/answers on the website always link to the first person to mention that act. But it seems like people are getting way too militant about making sure they get credit for their guesses, especially when we don't have an answer. It's not a contest - if people like your theory or if it turns out to be right, then congratulations - I'm genuinely happy for you and glad you mentioned it. But constantly reminding us that you said it first isn't going to get the clue solved any faster and it's stirring up useless rehashing.
Absolutely none of that is directed at anyone in particular; I really have no clue who said what and I wouldn't be saying anything if it was just one post anyway. Just seems like we're all getting a bit frustrated and tempers are getting hot.
Alright, just trying to keep us positive! Now...carry on! I don't have any brilliant ideas, and I'm afraid I'm heading out for the night so I won't be around to contribute (or fix the website, sadly) until later tonight.
I was thinking about it. Maybe were just over analyzing everything way to much. I think whoever it was might have had it with the Apollo band(sorry I don't remember)that was at roo 02, I thought that person said but i couldn't find them. Trip to space thwarted by a lads demise-the real first trip to space put off by Kennedy's death. And a watershed moment-duh..but i do have another idea but I don't think it goes anywhere. Isn't there an Apollo venue? Do they play shows there?
I posted earlier that "A trip to space thwarted by a speckled Lad's demise" was Apollo 13. Ken Mattingly was supposed to was supposed to be the Command Module Pilot but contracted the german measles before the flight and was unable to go. My guess was Apollo Sunshine who played Roo in 2002.
That would be my number one. It ties in nicely without taking too many steps to get to the conclusion. We're not gonna have to line twenty different things up to get the answer. I would say Apollo Sunshine is the correct answer for 1.
1st part points to Apollo 13 = Apollo Sunshine, who played 2002. The first Bonnaroo is def a "watershed moment" by definition.

"A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. A watershed moment otherwise."
1. "A trip to space..." ~ 'foo fighter' was a term used by WWII pilots to describe UFO's or other unidentified flying objects. 2. "...thwarted by a speckled lad's demise." ~ could refer to Kurt Cobain. 3. "A watershed moment otherwise." ~ the Foo Fighters' self-titled album has a song called 'Wattershed'; a 'watershed moment' implies a transition, which could refer to Dave Grohl's progression from the role of drummer to frontman.
Thus, Foo Fighters are a good match to the first clue. I'm not a huge fan, but it seems logical. Yes, they are playing Europe several times during the weekend but they are not playing on the 10th (Friday)...a stretch, but so was Jay-Z, and the Foo's seem to be pretty versatile so conceivably they could pull it off. They are bigger than Kings of Leon...and it could be worse (if this is indeed true). It's a possibility, speculation if you will, so take it for what it's worth.
