These guys have been one of my favorite live bands for the last few years. Tip: If you get a show poster ask to have Bradford sign it. The results will be hilarious.
Deerhunter has been my favorite band ever since Microcastle came out. One thing that I have always liked is that a lot of their fans make really good music videos for their songs. Here are a few of my favorites:

Saw these guys open for Spoon in Birmingham last year, and it was far more fun that I figured it would be. I expected a much more downbeat, dark performance.
Great crowd interaction from Bradford. Came across as a genuinely good guy, FWIW.

I just watched their Letterman performance and thought it was pretty fucking awesome. Does anyone know how many people they have on stage for a normal tour?

To my knowledge that was the first time they've performed live with more than the normal 4 dudes. Although it's possible that by the time they hit roo they will have their 6-man act in full effect. Hope so.

The other two were from The Black Lips, I doubt they will be on the rest of the tour.

Think we get a Atlas Sound set announced too?
care to elaborate?
Took a picture with my Mac since my digital cam's out of batteries...
The penguin is saying "Lockett Pundt" since it was the way he autographed it. Bradford was the last of the band to sign the poster, noticed Lockett's penguin and said, "Lockett's drawing that stupid penguin again? I'll show him."
^yeah i'd say they are definitely established in their respective scene for sure. but i'm talking MGMT, Phoenix status. it's a bold call, i know, but i feel like it happens to one band every year. doesn't necessarily have to be a thursday night band.

I feel like if you played Deerhunter for an "average" music fan, ie people who pretty much only listen to the radio and don't spend much time researching/discovering new music, they'd think they're weird. Sure there's a lot of pop elements to their music, but most people would find Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix and MGMT's hits from their first album much more accessible. I'm sure they'll gain a lot of fans though.

Yeah, Deerhunter probably won't end up on party playlists like MGMT or Passion Pit did. And they don't make for easy listening like Vampire Weekend or the National. They're a bit weird, and I'd like them to stay that way.

Actually, the dude on guitar is Cole Alexander from the Black Lips and the keyboard player is Adam Bruneau from the Back Pockets and sometimes a Spooks member. The Spooks are a Black Lips off shoot band.
Also, Deerhunter is playing Thursday while the Black Lips are playing in California the same day.
Anyone know if these guys are getting a LN or not? I am hoping so.
I posted this in another thread:
I saw Thee Oh Sees tonight and it was one the most amazing, hypnotic, feel the rock to your bones shows I've ever seen. I also saw Bradford Cox from Deerhunter there and asked him about their roo set time. He said, "I think when all of the small bands play. Maybe Thursday." What time? Day or Night? "They don't tell us untill its closer to the show." FYI
