Could The Strokes be in one of the 6 'prime time' slots??
I think they are, I remember someone said they were playing 'Roo this year. And I think it was taken somewhat seriously at the time. I also think that, with the new album, they would be perfect to be the Which closer on Sunday.
Very happy with what im hearing. Arcade Fire, MMJ & Massive Attack were all in my top 10 most wanted acts for this year. Thats quite a step up from last year when there wasnt one act from my top 10 on the lineup. Now if Paul Mccartney or Prince are the big Saturday night headliner then the headliners will be just about perfect for my tastes.
"It's hard to say whether seeing Kellz backed by Jim James and his lion's mane hairdo or Billy Idol rocking out next to John Oates and his soul patch was weirder to watch. Let's just say both were beautifully bizarre sights to behold."
Since AF and Strokes seem to be playing every festival together, I'm wagering Strokes and hip hop headliner on Saturday.
I was thinking the same thing. Strokes as Pre-headliner in front of hip-hop? I don't think The Strokes would headline. For one, their sets are usually about 1 hour and 15 minutes long. Although, by Bonnaroo they'll have another album's worth of stuff.

I think Crazy Horse is most realistic, then maybe on Buffalo Springfield or CSNY. It would just be nice to know if we are getting Neil Young at all. If the answer is no, we can cry, and then readjust our focus.
If Saturday did in fact have a rap headliner the only person I could think of that would big enough for that slot would be Eminem. He has the popularity to pull of a headlining act. Other then Kanye or a possible Outkast reunion what rap act out there today could hold down a Saturday headlining spot?

Exactly, either way whether we get Young or not there's going to be crying involved.

Man if we got The Cure I would blow a load out of my pants , through the window, and all the way to where the mushroom fountain stands in all its glory

Maybe not headlining, but The Roots with or without John Legend could hold down either pre-headliner or SPECIAL LN.

I can't think of anyone...But I'm NOT especially knowledgeable in hip-hop/rap.
I dont mean to come off as dissapointed but I really dont see anything that JUMPS off the screen being speculated. Neil Young in whatever form doesn't really attract the same kind of press as some other big acts would. The jam band spot never usually has commercial appeal, and Arcade Fire, while big is still outside the mainstream, same with MMJ. Will we get a big commercial name this year like Kanye, Tool, Metallica, Pearl Jam, NIN, Beastie Boys, Jay Z were in the past?
