The Killing. I watched every episode in 2 days. Loved the writing and the acting. Damn shame it got cancelled.
Man I really enjoyed the first season. But I gave up after a couple episodes of the second season. It was just too slow. I typically love shows similar to The Killing, just couldn't get into this one.
Just watched Blackfish with my wife. One of those things where I didn't think the subject matter would interest me, but it was absolutely superb. For those who haven't heard of it, it deals with Seaworld and similar parks and their treatment of killer whales. A really shocking and for me an emotionally devastating documentary.
I watched it, I was angry, sad, so I was crying and cussing seaworld at the same time.... Also "The Cove" about the dolphin killings in japan. talk about heartwrenching but a damn good documentary about what happens and the truth being known.

It was so interesting. What's baffling is apparently you really need no credentials to work with the whales except know how to swim? I certainly will never look at those parks the same.

It was depressing to learn it all, and I work animal rescue, I've seen the worst of the worst in the world but that took the cake on what I've seen, specially how they used to keep them back before the real park was built, a lil floating prison. just evil and wrong

My friends and I watched Too Cute for hours one day during Memphis in May festival because we were so hung over and couldn't move.
I love this thread. I'm a bit of a netflix junkie lately so I'm always looking for good movie suggestions. Some recommendations based on my recent viewings.

I watched a heartwarming, engaging documentary about 3 restaurants and the people who own them....Spinning Plates. I wasn't sure what to expect, but at different moments throughout I found myself smiling, laughing and even a bit teary eyed

I'm sure everyone else has seen it but just watched Pearl Jam 20 on Netflix. Really really cool.
I forget that in the 90s "selling out" was such a huge concern of so many popular alternative bands. Now there is no money in selling records so nobody cares.

A movie called rubber, so bad its like watching a train wreck full of teletubbies. Just can't look away
I have to second this one.
No, really. Add it to your queue, grab some corn and go nuts with the omnomnom, and enjoy.

I did something fairly awful over the weekend... My girlfriend's eight year old now adores An Idiot Abroad.
I was but a couple episodes in when I figured it would be a good way to learn about other countries/cultures, but I'll be damned if later episodes didn't turn into a lot more cursing & nudity than she'd be comfortable for his exposure.

Anyone else stumbled upon Bojack Horseman yet? Quick summary: Netflix original cartoon with an Adult Swim vibe. I came across it by way of seeing Patton Oswalt tweet about it.
Takes place in a bizarro Hollywood where anthropomorphic animals coexist with humans. Bojack (voiced by Will Arnett) is parts horse/man and a washed-up former sitcom star attempting a comeback. Supporting voice cast includes Amy Sedaris & Paul F. Tompkins. Pat Carney & Grouplove do the opening & closing themes, respectively.

I wasn't sure I was going to like Bojack at first. I think I started getting into it after the episode where we see the sitcom daughter Sabrina at 30 as a fading, drug addled Pop star. Loving the Diane Nguyen and Princess Caroline characters. Patton Oswalt as the Navy SEAL was good too. Three more episodes to go.
I'm not that far just yet - only five or six episodes in myself - but I'm gaining steam. Another reason I gave it a shot past the first episode: I've learned to give Netflix originals the benefit of the doubt by this point.
I also see it's already been renewed for a second season.
