Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
It was right around the time that the Led Zeppelin rumors were in full effect (late 07 early 08). A friend of mine was working for me at the time, and while at work, I mentioned this rumor and suggested that we make the trip. Although we went separate ways during Roo 08, we independantly had the time of our lives, and went back the following year. After '10 was a bust for various reasons, we've established a Roo Crew, and we're looking to be back in '11. Ain't gonna miss this one.
One of Boz's friends had been and talked about it - we didn't make it in 2005 (had a 2 month old) but made it in 2006 (BFE) and dragged my BFF along with us. Thankfully because of Boz's friend, we were prepared for the camping aspect of it - but nothing he could have ever told me would have prepared me for Bonnaroo itself.
From the moment we drove through the Walmart parking lot, I knew I was in another place. Once we hit the farm and got the tents set up, I felt like I was home. And it just continued like that all weekend.
That acreage in TN is a magical place. We went back in 2007 (BFE) as a foursome +2 extras, Boz and I went alone in 2008 (access camping), and with a whole crew (BFF, her sister, Bamabelle, Bunny, Chico, Jenkazoo and Dallas too, SteelCityX and his son) and RV in access camping.
We missed last year because of funds - went to The Hangout - had a blast but it's not the same.
We will be back this year - Boz, me and my BFF plus my oldest daughter who, by then, will be 18 and a brand new high school graduate. She has been promised since we came back in 2006 that her grad/18th b-day present would be Bonnaroo.
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo

I was living in Knoxville and a buddy of mine from Maine went in 2002 and talked about it for an entire year so i had no option to go in '03. We hooked up and went about 15 deep in 2003 and had a fantastic time. I have actually not had the pleasure of going since but i think i'm gonna make it this year at the 10th anniversary.

I went with a few friends to the showing of the documentary Glastonbury during the Sundance film festival in 2006. We were extremely inspired by it and started looking up music festivals around the US. After seeing the lineup for Bonnaroo 06, we were sold. My 2 best girlfriends and I made Bonnaroo our senior trip that summer and we have made it back to the Roo every year since
2007. I had only been out of high school for a month or two. Tool was my favorite band at the time, they were headlining. All of my friends had been raving about this thing called Bonnaroo for as long as I can remember. I was poor and without a job, and being 17 still, kind of stupid. So we snuck in. Made realistic wristbands (before they came up with the cloth ones), and we got in. Tool at 'Roo '07 was my first concert ever.

My best friend in high school went to Roo '03 and '04. I couldn't go with her but I heard about what a great time she had. Since then I always wanted to go but had no one to go with/was afraid to go alone. Although looking back I wish I would have just gone alone. Anyway, in 2009 my sister and I decided to go last minute. Had a great time. Went last year too. This year my best friend who went to the earlier 'Roos is coming with me!
Just got done with my freshman year of engineering school in '06 and I really needed a vacation. I knew a few people that were going, talked a few more people into going and the rest is history. Since '06 we've had pretty much the same crew go every year.

Wow that was way back in 2002. I honestly can't remember how I originally heard about Bonnaroo but some of my friends and I decided to go and I'm sooo glad that we did! Best. weekend. ever.
Avett's announcement of playing Roo. 17 hour drive?? no problem
Had I known about the awesomeness that has transpired at the Farm, I would have been there a heck of alot sooner! but up here in the north country there isn't much talk about it.

A good friend told me about it in '09 and after seeing the lineup and talking to others who've been I was super in, then the friend who convinced me & my roommate decided not to go and our enthusiasm waned. Me and my roommate were going to go in '10 but I had to take summer courses to ensure I didn't have to spend 2 extra years in college. This year I got my roommate to swear an oath that we would go and bought my tickets as soon as the presale began so that I was locked in and by honor of the oath, my roommate was too.
My son who was 22 years old at the time, 2 years ago, asked if I wanted to go with him. I went and we had a great time and have gone the last two years and will be there this year. The best 4 days of the year!

in spring 2006 my friend told me about a music festival put on by a bunch of jam bands...we were 17. we had nooo idea. The only other festivals I had known about at the time was Monteray Pop and Woodstock, so thats what I imagined. Once he told me that Radiohead was going to be there I was ready, and the rest is history. I've been to every one since and don't plan on skipping any
In 2006 I received a email from Radiohead regarding them playing the festival. We (my now wife and I) bought tickets pretty much immediately and have been at Roo every year since.

A buddy of mine always used to talk up 'roo, and after seeing the lineup in 06, I decided to tag along with him. Wow. What an awesome decision, in retrospect. I've been back every year since, the last two without him, and I've had some of the best times of my life on the farm. Now, I'm the guy talking it up to my other friends - trying to convince them to come.
My son who was 22 years old at the time, 2 years ago, asked if I wanted to go with him. I went and we had a great time and have gone the last two years and will be there this year. The best 4 days of the year!
Great fathers day present, I went with my dad in 07 and we had the time of our lives

I saw the 2003 lineup in a magazine and was surprised by the variety. There was obviously the jam element (especially The Dead), but I also saw Neil Young, James Brown, Galactic, The Roots, Lucinda Williams, Garage a Trois, Antibalas, and other acts that I loved. I couldn't believe that such a variety of music was available in one location. It took me to 2005 to make it out, but it was love at first listen. I've missed only one since.
First year was 2003. Just graduated from high school. My friend tells me about this music festival I've never heard of featuring Neil Young. I say I'm down. Pick him up on Friday with nothing but a case of beer and the clothes on my back. Get scalper tickets for $100 each. Had such an awesome time, we drove back to Nashville late Saturday night to tell our friends. We end up driving back and sneaking them in for Sunday. I've been every year since except for 2006 (financial difficulties)
Have not posted in quite awhile but can not resist this topic. In 2002 my buddy and I found out about Bonnaroo to late and were quite heartbroken about tickets selling out so quickly. We swore we would make it the next year. The summer of 2003 I turned 40 and purchased my first Bonnaroo ticket as a birthday gift to myself. I am now 47 and will be attending my 9th Bonnaroo this summer. My crew that I attend with has changed over the years but I never tire of the farm.
In 2004 my husband friend ( who is by far a crazy wook) told us he was going to Roo before moving to California...we had jut had our 2nd child and he was, by june, old enough to leave with my parents so we could have a long weekend together....well I thought I was prepared. Having gone to over 40 grateful dead shows..living in my car hockin meat on a stick for gas money...I figured I was well versed in festie/camping life. How wrong I was! I planned food coffee bar for the morning..great tent and clothes...but I never took into consideration the SUN in June in TN! Well, by Sunday I was completely fried and not in a good way! blisters on my face and shoulders....Though I had a blast! Been going to Roo since and love it every year...and every year gets better! Now though, we bring extra shade tents/tarps to help any RooNoob near us!!
Live nearby and heard about it in 2002. I was at Krogers buying whatever on Wed evening and saw a ton of people making there last stop en route to Roo and went "Hey, I should go!" Went home packed some gear and drove down Thurs AM, scalped a ticket and the rest is history. Magical, wonderful history!
It was the summer I graduated from college, I was getting ready to move to Chicago, I was 21 and fearless and I had just broken up with my long-term boyfriend.
I had heard about it through some friends who had gone in 2002 and I thought, "Why not?"
It was a spur of the moment decision and one of the best ones I've ever made.
I packed up my Jeep and headed to Roo alone and I ended up camped next to some very awesome people and they made my weekend.
Nine years later, I've had more fun than should be allowed and can't wait to spend the last little bit of my 20's at the Farm.
My closest friends started going in '04, and they tried convincing me to go every year. I could never afford it though, a $250 ticket PLUS expenses was just too far out of my pay range. I've been a full-time student and working almost full-time as well since then, so it just seemed like a pipe dream.
Then after my friends left for '06, I couldn't shut the hell up at work about how bad I wished I could go. This guy who had just got hired asked me why I didn't ask him about it. I felt curious, and as I asked more questions he started to tell me how his friends work the parking at festivals all over the country, including Bonnaroo, and they had just left too.
I've been working for that company, every summer, ever since.

Back in 2004 I worked with this super cute chick who would make out with me spontaneously and always up to hot box my car. She was going and invited me but I couldn't get out of work. I looked it up and was totally psyched about going. 2005 came and went, 2006 didn't make it, 2007 started college and that slowed me down, 2008 more college, 2009 crismess and I made a vow to go next year and 2010 finally we made it to the farm!!!! 6 years of wanting came through 2011 I'll be there regardless of the line up - I spent so much time meeting/greeting with my neighbors that the experience of camp is just as exciting <3
My son was talking up Roo in 2007 but he couldn't work it out that year. It got me to checking it out as well because we are all music lovers. The next year when the line up came out the talking escalated. The LOML (fawnmart) saw it as a great bonding road trip for my son and I and surprised us with a couple of tickets. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Last year she joined us along with my daughter and some of my kids' (their not really kids anymore but I'm a dad) friends. Now it's a family affair and everyone gets so jazzed about it. Seven of us going this year.
