I missed the Avetts in order to get a rad spot in the pit for Dead Weather/ I heard their set was wonderful as usual. Luckily they are playing 3 nights in August here in Myrtle Beach so I don't feel too bad.
Gwar. I just didn't have the energy to wade through the Deadmau5 crowd I was in to make it over.
I missed Daryl Hall/Chromeo because I was getting a spot on the rail for LCD Soundsystem. I can't help but feel I made the wrong choice because 1) Bassnectar was really not that good and 2) I didn't have hardly any dancing room on the rail.
On the other hand, being so close that I could literally touch Bassnectar's subwoofers was pretty awesome and having a perfect view of all of LCD Soundsystem dancing around and having a blast on stage was just incredible.
haha that's funny; i feel basically the inverse of you. i had a great time at daryl/chromeo, but right now i kidna wish i would've said "fuck it, i'm camping out for lcd and getting a spot right up front for my favorite band at my favorite event of the year".
i mean i still had ended up with a pretty good spot, having got there halfway through bassnectar. but i'm really short and so i didn't have a great view of the band.
really though - having a rail spot for lcd or doing daryl/chromeo ---> lcd - it was probably win/win situation.

I walked up to This Tent at like 9:30 on Friday and sat down on the rail to wait for LCD. Being in front of the speakers for Bassnectar was intense and maintaining first rail for most of LCD was awesome. But I gave up Black Keys/Chromeo/Flips. I still think I made the right decision though...

Jay-Z - I'm agreeing with everyone that it was a classic headliner set...seriously up there with Radiohead, Tool, David Byrne (he was a headliner) and Pearl Jam. And I don't even like Jay-Z really. But his band was literally exploding from the What Stage. His show really gave me a great feeling. Unfortunately, I was dumb and left with my friends for Thievery, who were disappointing probably mostly bc I just left fucking Jay-Z for them.

Jay-Z - I really regret this one, but at the time I thought getting a good spot for Dan Deacon was more important.
Flaming Lips - I don't regret missing this as Chromeo w/ Hall was simply incredible and I've heard mixed reviews of the Flips show, but damn, missing Flips doign DsotM? 6 months ago if someone told me I'd be missing Flips doing DsotM I'd have laughed in their face.
John Fogerty - Was way too hot for the what stage.
Regina Spektor - Again, was way too hot and tired for the which stage and there was no room whatsoever in the shade.
Jeff Beck - Was going to split Becks and Prines show but couldn't leave Prine. His show was amazing.
Pheonix - second year I wanted to see them and second year I missed.

Tenacious D, I was waiting in line for the pit and seriously felt as though I could pass out at any moment so I rushed and grabbed some water and went back to my tent and chugged a whole gallon.
I almost missed saturday late night but I decided totake a nap during the last half of stevie and it was probably the best decision I made all weekend.

I went to Flips first to see DSOTM, after 15 min or so left for Hall/Chromeo. Went back for Flips, when they finally started doing DSOTM around 1:45.
I started getting the bonnaflu saturday and felt godawful after spending all day in the sun, so I made the decision I knew I would regret and took an ambien after stevie played superstition. About an hour and a half afterward I still couldn't sleep because I knew what I would be missing and took something else to pep my step. But I walked up to What right as Jay Z ended. I've seen the videos on the tube and I envy everyone who was there.

I wish I had seen dieselboy and just caught the end of the XX. Their show was alright but they work better on cd. I wish I had caught neon indian instead of j.b. smoove. he wasn't that funny and I heard nothing but good things about neon indian I wish I had caught more of the Flaming lips, maybe even by skipping the black keys entirely. The Keys were AWESOME but I saw them 2 months ago, have the oppurtunity to see them in a few months opening for KOL, and the Lips set looked epic and amazing, and I was too far to see much in the few minutes i dropped by.

I had a chase freedom wristband, and when I tried to go into the tent early sat I was told 'Sorry, private show' I think only those with the blue wristbands who paid for the vip experience with their chase points were allowed in for that show
Avetts - chose a good spot for the Dead Weather/Stevie instead.
Black Keys - I loved the Flips, but this one stings really, really bad.
Jeff Beck - see Avetts.
Phoenix - everyone in my group wanted to be up front for DMB so I missed them and saw ZBB instead. Really angry about this because DMB sucked and Phoenix has become one of my favorite bands (I did take a bathroom break and got to the Which Stage right when they started playing Rome - my favorite song - so I got to see that...)
okay i made the ultimate mistake and missed LCD. i was looking forward to their set the most!!!! it's kind of my fault because i partied hard to the point that i forgot the urgency of the moment. i can't even listen to them now because it makes me physically sick. i don't think i'll ever forgive myself.
i also wish i had stayed around for the end of Jay Z instead of Dan Deacon. Dan was fantastic, and one of my favorite shows, but in my opinion Jay Z felt like the best show ever

i cant believe i missed the Tractorbeam set after the encore. it really seemed like they were done after they played Morph, i wish they had indicated they were coming back out.
Avetts, Jeff Beck, John Prine, Weezer - I had an awesome spot in the front row, right behind the pits on What and didn't want to give it up. Ended up seeing Dead Weather, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z from this awesome front row spot. I think it was worth it but I really regret missing John Prine. Avetts and Weezer are doing a show together at a local block party in July so I might be able to catch them then. Jeff Beck is also playing a gig in my area in a couple weeks.
Flaming Lips - I developed blisters on my feet on Friday and could barely stand. I managed to get through an hour of Daryl Hall/Chromeo before having to head back to camp.
MMW - Ended up seeing the White Stripes documentary in the cinema tent. It was too hot and I needed the AC. I had been wanting to see this movie and knew I'd never get around to it unless I did it then. I've seen MMW before so I don't feel too bad about missing them.
There are also some bands that I saw but I wish I would've tried to get a closer spot for such as Fogerty, DMB, Edward Sharpe, Blues Traveler and NGDB.
can't believe i left jeff beck's set, but i had to go meet up with my wife and get to stevie wonder can't believe i missed clutch, one of my favorite bands, but i was too tired to go see them. also which i had been able to see a little bit of the gwar spectacle
sang...Clutch brought it both barrels!!!! They were one of the best performances IMO this year!

Isis. I had to make sure my sister was OK though. She actually had to leave early on (Saturday afternoon) because of her heat stroke; but I am so glad she got the help she needed. I would sacrifice any set to know that I could help save someone's life. (Even if I will never be able to see this amazing band again) Also note....of the 4 in my group, I am in the only one that even took any time away from their day to make sure that she was OK. Justin who is supposed to be like her boyfriend or something (i dunno WTF they are...but they are intimate I know that) never even stopped to check on her. I felt so bad that she had to leave that I bought her this wicked piece of glass to adorn her coffee table. Now....with Karma on my side....time to try and get some much needed rest.
Dave Rawlings Machine, but it was worth it for Isis. Chromeo as well
Don't think Deacon will be touring with the ensemble much in the future
Trust me, there is no way that Isis was worth missing DRM. They were on fire. 10x better than when I saw them a few months ago.
I wish I could have stayed up longer on Friday. My stomach was in knots and I needed rest. Best choice I made though because Saturday late night was epic and I never would have made it if I hadn't gotten some rest on Friday. I don't have any regrets. My Roo went pretty much as planned.

Yep Clutch was my favorite set by far. Amazing show. I am just hoping someone taped it......
I missed Weezer and Blues Traveler, due to the heat. I missed the Flaming Lips due to the Black Keys I missed Isis and am bummed now that I've heard the recording.

I was very underwhelmed by Blitzen Trapper, we left before they were done. This was a show I was really excited about and to me it was a little disappointing. They just didn't have much "stage presence".

i just saw them last night. it doesn't make up for missing them at roo, but i feel a little better at least.
