Also we will make sure you can get this digitally this time BUT the vinyl is going to be where it's at and it's going to be where the extras are. I am finalizing art with Neal and Jon and we are working with Andy who we did Cold Roses with- it's going to be THE Cardinals experience in one record and I am putting everything I got into this. It's been awesome to work on this and I think a lot of healing has happened because of it. There are some days where we even discuss a future. That is pretty damn exciting.
Ryan Adams p.s. for everyone that has been asking... I am thinking about doing some solo shows later this year, much later-Me+acoustic or possibly half like that & half w/ the insanely badassed new band I have assembled out here in Cali-I dunno yet tho-still findin my balance in every way post Meniere's. I am kind of itching to play though. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for asking/ keepin the faith : )
Interesting. I disagree completely, wolf. I don't think that his recorded work has suffered much at all. I still prefer his earlier albums, but I think he still puts out pretty great music. And don't get me wrong, I'm happy for RA (and his family) that he's sober. That being said, I think his live shows from the early 2000's were better than one's I've seen more recently (more energetic, more carefree, and less focused on and distracted by trivial issues). That could very well just be sampling error, though (I've heard the horror stories).
Yeah, I don't hate Cardinology like a lot of people do. But I see what you're saying. Musically, his live shows continue to impress (and I may even say "improve"), but they just don't seem to have the same fire and passion - I still wouldn't pass up a live show, now, though.
Ryan Adams Hey there. I've been computer-less in NYC for a few weeks recording. It was great. I made 25 songs but I only like 2 of them- only 2 of them will be good enough so I am going to go on another journey to find some more. I am working very very hard and doing my best. LOVE LOVE LOVE ya'll and I send you invisible snacks, ...
"Back from NYC sessions... Monday me and solo band start 2 weeks in the studio in LA then 2 more weeks in NYC, working with Tom on one coast and Jamie C on the other... will post some video from the studio next week. Band is sick, songs are getting there. Miss ya. Hope Everyone is doing GREAT. XXX love, the DRA
p.s Blackhole is mastered and done, III/IV went back in for a remix ( again ) and now for a re-master ( again )... got a killer distribution co. in place for PAX-AM so next time we can handle tons more orders PLUS they do great digital. It's all coming into focus friends... : )"

Tom Schick in the Tom Zone. He is a beautiful man with a beautiful mind who is also vegan and extra-gassy. He will appreciate me telling you that. He has been with me so long.. he recorded and engineered "Love is Hell" ( John Porter of Smiths fame came later on that and mixed and produced some guitars later) and also did the demo's from RocknRoll ( which were way different and cool ) and produced "Cold Roses", "Jacksonville City Nights" and also "Cardinology"- which aside from Easy Tiger is everyone's favorite, a fan favorite really.
Some humor from DRA.
I'm really looking forward to actually purchasing blackhole and III/IV. I kind of waited on Orion and it wasn't there once I got paid. I'll probably like these albums more anyway.
Tomorrow starts the first day of two weeks of recording a new solo album. The songs are based around my acoustic with some stark drums/bass/piano in there. anI'm keeping these recordings simple......THEN in two weeks I am off to NYC to record part two of the crazy NYC sessions I started last month by accident. What started as a weekend studio hang with Johnny and Tom Schick turned into some kind of Smiths/Simple Minds/Love Is Hell throw-back and just way too much fun to not finish. So two coasts, two sessions happening. The new daze are here... fingers crossed these things turn out! I'll check in again from the studio this week. Meanwhile enjoy a few more photo's from the last studio sessions. DRA
