OK so Im embarassed to say but I really haven't listened to too much Neil Young extensively. I've heard the hits, listened to a lot of Buffalo Springfield last Summer because of Roo and I own After the Gold Rush on vinyl. Also have been a CSNY fan since my childhood because of my dad. But he has such an expansive solo catalog Ive never really known where to dive in.
I'm looking for less of the acoustic, mellow folky-country stuff and more of the electric, rocking jamming stuff like what's streaming on the website right now. Give me an album or two to get started with, bacon or Garage
Just get everything man. If you want to rock, start at Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and don't look back. I think his self-titled debut rocks too, but it's over-produced and not for everyone.
Almost all of Neil's albums have a little bit of this and a little bit of that, and you'd be missing out on many, many gems by just going for the "rockin'" albums.

So I would guess this is just some warm up studio jamming they did or maybe tour practice.
It sounds damn good, I could certainly see myself getting lost in it at Bonnaroo for several hours. I have not seen a good Neil show since the three night Ryman gig a long time ago, when they filmed the movie.

OK so Cortez the Killer.... wow
After listening Zuma and that live Weld album a couple times through my excitement about the possibility of Neil being at Roo has risen exponentially. Thanks for the recommendations guys

Last week, it was reported that Neil Young is recording new music with Crazy Horse. As a follow-up, Rolling Stone has posted a video of Neil discussing the project. In the video, Young says he has already recorded one album with Crazy Horse entitled Americana, which he describes as having "a choir in it that sings with Crazy Horse. A very young choir of children. They're songs we all know from kindergarten, but Crazy Horse has rearranged them, and they now belong to us." The group is already working on the second record.
Neil Young fan site Thrashers Wheat points to a 38-minute video posted on NeilYoung.com, which contains close-ups of recording gear while the band jams on "Fuckin Up" and "Cortez The Killer". Head over to Neil's website to check out the video.

i've recently had a falling in with tonights the night, and its p much the g thing ever. i know thats not relevant to ch, but i thought id share. youre welcome
Tonight's the Night is also one of my favorites. I saw him in Detroit in 2007 and played a lot of material from that album and On the Beach. It was an amazing night plus it was with the late Ben Keith.

So tonight was the night for the Paul McCartney show. No reports on what Neil and the Horse played yet.
I just finished reading the 40th Anniversary of Harvest article in the latest issue in Relix. A good read with some interesting tid bits about Neil and the album.
Harvest was released on Feb 14th 1972. (lineup day is the 40th anniversary just saying)
Thrasher's has some great reviews and a video with a ten second clip from last night. The Horse is back and seem to be rocking as hard as ever. I'm still expecting the tour dates and album announcement very soon
"But the performance that brought the crowd to its feet and seemed to capture the rock and roll spirit of the early Beatles came from Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Mr. Young, his long grey hair spilling out from under his white hat, launched into “I Saw Her Standing There” in a loose, free style, letting the guitars ring as he sang the teenage anthem with a snarl and launched into a post-modern guitar solo in which the melody jumped, stuttered and seemed to cry out in pain. Simply put, the song rocked, sounding as if it could have been recorded yesterday.
“Paul!” Mr. Young said after he finished, raising his hand in a salute, while the crowd applauded wildly."
