Margaret Cho and everyone that preceded her were awful. I went to see her on Thursday night just to see Brendan Benson. I really like Brendan's solo albums and the only time I've seen him was with The Raconteurs. I wanted to leave the set early but I was stuck on the inside and couldn't get out. It was like I was being tortured. I didn't think it would ever end. The guy with the wigs was the worst! I didn't really care to hear about Margaret's sex life either. When Brenden finally came out it was for one lame song which he didn't even play very well (her singing didn't help any).
The worst musical performance for me was The Flaming Lips but I didn't give them much of a chance. I had never seen them live before and I got there pretty late into their first set. I saw one song which wasn't very good, then Wayne started ranting about the government or something like that and I got annoyed and left. I was tired and my feet hurt so that might have influenced my opinion.
The worst musical performance for me in which I saw the entire set was Stevie Wonder. I was on the front row behind the pits so I had an awesome view but the show was boring. I didn't like the sing-a-long stuff at all. I didn't recognize half the songs so during the sing-a-long stuff, I was completely lost. I came to hear Stevie sing, not the crowd. He also came on late and left early. The drum thing was cool at first but it went on for way too long.
Honorable mentions: DMB's show was boring and would have been the worst set for me but I enjoyed the encore. I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan and AATWT is one of my favorite songs. I love it when I get to hear it live by any band (one of my favorite Bonnaroo moments was when Pearl Jam played it in 08).
Kris Kristofferson wasn't very good. He kept forgetting the words to his songs. He was singing so slowly that it was putting me to sleep. Maybe he was just having an off day.
Even though I was disappointing by The Flaming Lips and Stevie Wonder, I'm glad I got to see them. Stevie is a legend and I would give The Flaming Lips another chance if they came by on tour or made another appearance at Bonnaroo.

Can't believe people are saying The Entrance Band. Now, I missed their main set Thursday since it took forever to get in and maybe they were off a bit. I caught their shorter set friday at Sonic Stage and they sounded fucking great. They play some real psych rock music, like Hendrix and Mars Volta mixed together. Acid dripped riffs blowing the speakers out to your heart's content. Wish there were more these type bands at Roo.
I am a big Flaming Lips fan but I just could not get into their set at all... for such a short time playing their material Wayne talked wayyyy too much. Compare FLIPS who played about 15 songs in an hour and a half and Jay-Z who played probably 30 songs in the same time.

John Roberts was the worst comedian (no worst performance of any type) I have ever seen! Looking around the comedy tent at everyone with their mouths half open and eyes scrunched in confusion was more amusing than listening to anything he had to say. In fact, the jokes of his impersonation of a "bad comedian" were sadly the funniest part. When he got off the stage I was like, "Thank God!" Needless to say I was very disappointed when Cho brought him back out to finish her set.
I personallky thought Cho was sort of funny. I can see how she is not everyone's cup of tea.
I am a HUGE DMB fan, but I was disappointed with his set. I expected something more/special.

Flips doing DSOTM was horrible, but I expected it to be horrible but was curious to see it Conan's set on Friday was not good at all. He doesn't do angry very well in my opinion, he should just be weird and goofy What I saw of Jay Electronica sucked
Other than that, I really liked everything else I saw.

I thought Stevie was great- he was filled with energy and had a great stage presence. But to be honest, Kings of Leon really disappointed me. Theyre great musicians, no doubt about that, but they were really boring.

I saw a F**k load of shows this weekend and I didn't think any of them were bad at all. Most were absolutely great. Only three were just OK.
1.) Damien Marley & Nas - Some songs were good, but most were just...I don't know, blah. I think the ones without Nas were better. 2.) Stevie Wonder - It was just a sleepy show. Sorry, It was 3.) Dan Deacon - It was really interesting, but many songs sounded like a mess of sounds.
Nonetheless, I'm so glad I didn't see an actual bad show all weekend.
Stevie, DSOTM, and Jay Electronica were awesome, yall are nuts. Jay-Elec's acapella's were great and he had seamless transitions from the music/acapellas.
Deadmau5 was slightly disappointing but I think thats the audio's fault. Did anyone else thing something was horribly wrong with This Tent? Thursday the vocals were way too low and the rest of the weekend the overall gain seemed too low. It was being overpowered by Lunar during latenight...

I had heard so many good things about Zac Brown that I was a bit disappointed in him. Great guitar player but it's just too much Top 40 "I like beer and Jesus and USA and Making Babies with my Sister" Country for my tastes.
KoL wasn't very good but I don't care for them so really expected that.
Several people I know who saw GWAR were really disappointed in them and said they played an excruciatingly long un-funny Behind the Music spoof and then just kind of went through the motions. Didn't make it to that one, though, so I can't say.
Overall, I'm giving the "worst performance" to myself for letting Tserof talk me into staying with him for Dead Weather rather than check out a John Prine set that included Old Crow Medicine Show and Kris Kristofferson...
I thought Neon Indian sounded pretty terrible, I left after a few songs though so maybe it got better. Cant believe people are saying Entrance Band, I thought there set was pretty great. The sound wasnt that great but I thought they brought it pretty hard.
and they were far from the worst but DMB and Stevie were both hugely dissapointing. DMB basically played the same setlist I saw last year. They have a huge catalog of great songs but they choose to play stuff from their mediocre new ablum and Stevie was flat and boring as others have said and I felt embarrased that he kept trying to get sing alongs going and hearing dead silence. Didnt he know that he was playing a festival and that 95% of the audience doesnt know the words to all of his songs?
Stevie Wonder was great. Not sure where the hate is coming from on that one. Most people don't realize that a couple of songs in Stevie was getting so exited that he stopped following his setlist and improvised the whole rest of the show. The sing along was part of that. He was just having a great time with the crowd.
The Flaming Lips were the band that disappointed me the most. We were very excited about watching their Dark Side of the Moon but couldn't make it all the way through. During the first set it felt like there was a 10 minute break in between each song with Wayne rambling on and on (he appeared to be "fuzzy"). It got very old and very boring. Then when they decided to take a break we just left. It was a snoozefest.

I'm a huge DMB fan and I was a little disappointed with their show. They could have put together a better set list. This will be the first year in 13 years that I'm not going to see them on tour other than a festivals. I hope they get some good rest on their year off.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
Stevie was amazing - a huge dance party and I loved every second of it. Flaming Lips was a party as well - I thought they were amazing (although it was my first time seeing them).
DMB was my biggest disappointment. I had high expectations - they can put on the best show I've ever seen when they're on, but that set on Sunday was so uninspired and boring. They played a run of the mill setlist with a bunch of boring songs. Over half their set list was post-2006 which was a letdown.

The music was the only good thing about roo, I will never go back the venue was so lame, bad vibes for the most part. Flaming Lips, DMB, Damien marley & Nas, Fogerty, Stevie wonder, they were alll fucking fantastic, some of the best shows i have ever seen.... but as far as setting, Bonnaroo is the worst festival I have been too.
FLips were the worst for me. too low key and they seemed to slow the tempo down on every song they played. But this was the way of Friday in general as nearly everywhere i stopped was just not as energetic as i expected it to be .

Jay Electronica was godawful. I only endured it to the end, so I could get a better spot for the Gossip. I was thankful he ended his set 25 minutes early.
The Entrance Band was a big letdown for me. It was the first day and the first band I saw, so I was so excited and they just did not do it for me.

I did not like Japandroids or Lucero. The sound in the Comedy tent was awful. Everything was muffled and echo-y and I couldn't hardly make out the jokes. I was p.o'd that Deadmou5 was 30 min. late but came back later to watch and listen and liked it. Jamey Johnson I did not likeat all. Tori Amos made me loose by buzz and sounded like something you listen to on a rainy afternoon to take a nap to. The Deadweather was too bluesy and depressing for me and I was expecting more of a up-beat indy-rock sound. Norah Jones was okay but the volume was too low and I heard mostly sound coming from the Troo Lounge. The Magnetic Zeros -don't know. I was up front but was pushed around so much by kids trying to move into the area that I had to leave before they even started.

Honestly I did not see a bad performance this year, Out of 25 shows (most of which were full sets) these three were the worst. Not bad, but not as good as the 22 other shows I saw. 1. Pheonix- Just kind of boring, had to leave early to go back to camp to get a bowl for dmb, because my friend's got taken up the last time we planned on going into centeroo. Not bad tho cause it caused us to get a way better spot for dmb. 2. LCD Soundsystem- Only saw part of it, again wasn't bad but I expected alot more. Thank god for Galactic only having a quarter of the tent being full so we got to dance til the end with no one around us in the middle of the other tent. 3. Blues Traveler- It was just too damn hot and it wasn't even a bad show just hard to enjoy in the heat and we had no energy to stand under the tent.

Saw almost 30 acts this weekend and the only dissapointments were the comedians preceding Margaret Cho (I thought she was pretty funny until she started singing). Seriously, the wig guy was the worst performer of any type I have ever suffered through. The "lousy comedian" act can be hysterical (i.e. Neil Hamburger) but this guy was torture.
Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed everything I saw, including Stevie and The Lips, but I guess I just don't have any taste.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
The Flaming Lips was the main act I was excited about, but since I wasn't of an altered state of mind it was hard to stay awake through it. A little droaning.. I've become disenchanted with Wayne a bit. He's starting to seem slightly washed up and full of himself, honestly. Weezer seemed to think that everyone who bought a ticket came to see them. I thought that was funny.
I'm 100% sure weezer was joking about that....the worst I saw were wale and japandroids. Wale was asleep and started way late and while we were waiting his sucky dj was playing stuff like let the bodies hit the floor and getting booed at. The keyboardist had to go throw up in the middle of the set because he drank too much patron before. The set was awful and the full songs he did do weren't that good. It seemed like they didn't have a set big enough to fill the time slot so they were just trying to drag it out.
Japandroids were just straight up not good... but they also were playing in the hottest weather possible
I did not like Japandroids or Lucero. The sound in the Comedy tent was awful. Everything was muffled and echo-y and I couldn't hardly make out the jokes. I was p.o'd that Deadmou5 was 30 min. late but came back later to watch and listen and liked it. Jamey Johnson I did not likeat all. my favorite was the lips but this was my first time seeing them live so that might of effected it.
stevie was dissapointing it sound like LENO from where i was sitting so i went back to camp were it sounded much better
also the dead have been a huge fan and i would go gay for jack white. but he seemed so disconnected it was depressing i was so looking forward to that set. he was the first one off the stage too. i guess he was just having a bad day
First, Wale was easily the worst act I saw on stage at Bonnaroo. He embarrassed his band leaving them up there starting and stopping. When he came out, he did blame sleep but he was clearly out of sorts as well. He started talking to the audience asking for a camera on each side then abandoned the effort and started playing. People did boo, but most of them just left. My friend and I were talking about how dissapointing the guy was when two rooers walked past and said. "man, that sucked."
We caught the end of Blues Traveler, for "hook." He just sounded done for. His golden sounding voice came out a few times during the most important parts, but I think that dude is just about done for.
I have been a huge DMB fan in the past, seen them 40+ times and administer a fairly large DMB fan website. I interviewed Stefan Lessard on Saturday and since they're taking a year off he said that they are planning to be more experimental than before.
A couple of reasons to explain why DMB was a yawner for some: 1. People are exhausted on Sunday night. 2. The exciting stuff that was happening on stage was subtle, they have re-orchestrated important parts of the song in interesting ways. Too Much, normally a boring tune to me has some really interesting new stuff in it. How you would possbily have noticed if you aren't a huge fan and paying attention I have no idea. 3. Dave was intimidated by following Wonder and Jay Z. When it comes down to it, DMB is not as cool as either and I think that kept him from going very crazy.
Another comment on DMB. They screwed up musically a number of times, including the very opening of their set. That was ok for me, because I saw and could hear the trickery they were doing with standard tunes but for people who have no idea I could see it feeling sloppy.
