omg i went to margaret cho also. that first guy who was MC'ing was HORRIBLE. i mean you could hear the crickets chirping inside that tent. and the dude w/ the afro was midly entertaining w/ his beatbox looping. margaret cho did make me giggle a few times but overall I was very dissapointed that i wasted an hour and a half in the comedy tent.
Margeret Cho is horrible. I saw her last year in the comedy tent when she was a surprise guest. Only surprise I got was finding out how unfunny she can be.

Eh? I didn't think so, unless you just didn't care for their music. Blues Traveler kind of disappointed me, although yesterday was quite a challenge to be able to concentrate on music over hydration all over the place.
I gave Japandroids a shot, I just couldn't get into them at all. Their album wasn't bad at all, but... I don't know, it just didn't click at all for me.
Jay Electronica might have been good if he let a beat ride for more than 2 minutes. Every time something got rolling, he would kill it and start talking or doing a capella stuff.

All the sets I saw were good. I was a little disappointed by Phoenix and Deadmau5 but they were still definitely enjoyable, just not as high energy as I had hoped. Being on the rail for Bassnectar and LCD and then seeing Dan Deacon was just too fucking good for most bands to live up to.

The Gaslight Anthem...I found them so damn boring and I hyped them up to my trusty sidekick too!
I do not know if it was because they went after Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave. (Who totally rocked and had such a great sound) or because it was just beyond hot but their set to me was BEYOND boring...I would have rather have listened to Garofolo in the comedy tent again (& that is saying a TON since she is HORR-I-BLE!) I kept waiting for it to get better but it never happened so we left and caught the end of Jay Electronica.

I liked Stevie, and thought he still sounded great.
I was very disappointed by The XX. I liked their album, but their show was terrible and boring. I left a little early to go see some of Wale. He was 45 mins. late, so I got there right before he started. I didn't think he was very good either.

Wale was great, brought ton of energy and played past his ending time.
Cudi was just awful.
gotta disagree on Wale, I was embarassed for him. That may have been the worst live show i have ever seen. Were you there when he was supposed to start?

The wale show was just bizarre. He was late, then he came out and apologized using him taking a nap as a suitable excuse. Everytime he started a song he'd stop and talk. I'm a big fan but he really disappointed me.
The entrance band was the worst thing I've ever seen at roo. I was only there killing time before here we go magic, but it was enough to make me want to leave.

I was disappointed by Stevie. There was no excitement coming from him at all. Flat boring show. And Isis sucked it up too. Other than that, the only reason I may not have enjoyed a show was just because I was too far away from the stage. Did anyone go see any acts on the Solar Stage or Troo Music stage?

Someone said this about Wale:
I love that there's hip-hop at Bonnaroo. I wish there was a lot more of it. There are few things I'm looking forward to seeing more this weekend than Jay Electronica, and Kanye West's 2008 performance -- even if it was delayed for two hours -- remains one of my best Bonnaroo memories.
But of course, West's set was plagued with problems, and I couldn't help but draw parallels as I and several hundred irritated fans waited a good half hour past set time for Wale to take the stage Thursday night. It's clear that thousands of Roo attendees are all about seeing some rappers, but I'm thinking there are definitely some swagger adjustments required for guys like Wale if they want to make it in Manchester.
Sure, if you're playing in a club, taking your sweet time to hit the stage is expected and practically a live hip-hop custom -- but it's just not kosher here. The booing started around 20 minutes into the delay, and got worse during a prolonged introductory DJ set, which swerved from pandering (Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit) to just plain clueless (Drowning Pool's Bodies). The hype man required that a half-hearted crowd chant Wale's name a few dozen times before he hit the stage, set to coast on simmering swagger like any other gig.
Early on, he interrupted one of his best-known songs, Days Like This, to ask if there were bloggers in the crowd and if they had flipcams, then resumed the song after a few more moments of incoherence. The band was air-tight -- like a Jr. Whopper version of Jay-Z's flawless backing unit -- but the flow was muddy and detatched. Later on, Wale taught the crowd a call and response: "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the realest of them all?" We're going to go out on a limb and assume that he's referring to himself, but he sure didn't do much to convince us.

I agree about Jay Electronica stopping the beats so often. That was a real buzkill.
The Entrance Band drowned out the end of Frontier Ruckus which I was really enjoying. That band is just bad.
I'd like to reiterate that I saw them open for Sonic Youth in Birmingham, where they talked about their song about MLK, and about how he was such an important part in Birmingham supporting the bus boycott. That was a really surreal moment and I wanted to punch the singer.
Jay Electronica might have been good if he let a beat ride for more than 2 minutes. Every time something got rolling, he would kill it and start talking or doing a capella stuff.
Yup, I posted the same thing in the Jay Electronica thread. Especially when he has half the crowd on stage. Just roll with that for a few songs no stopping.

Wale was awful. I like him, but that show was awful. I don't know how you can say Stevie was your biggest disappointment. He was far and away my favorite performance this year. Terrific set.

As far as music goes, the worst performance I saw this year by far was Bassnectar. I knew little about him before I went to the show and I mainly went just so I could be at the front for LCD Soundsystem. It was not my cup of tea.
Overall though, the worst performance I have ever seen at a festival was Greg Giraldo's stand-up. He looked like he was out of it and he rambled forever about gay marriage and stem cell research. Not funny at all. The set ran over by about 15 minutes and was followed by Bo Burnham, who I figured out quickly I was not into at all.

I didn't think the Entrance Band was too bad. All of the music I saw was pretty good. I went to see JB Smoove on Thursday. Holy Shit, he is not funny at all. The MC was the funniest of the three comics. About 5 minutes into JB's set, half of the people bounced. It was embarrassing.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good

I've heard that from quite a few folks, but I quite enjoyed their set. Paz plays a mean bass, and I like the psychedelic vibe they bring to the stage. You just have to look past the annoying vocals of the singer.

I wasn't sure if it was just b/c I was tired from waiting in line all day then setting up camp but I didn't think Smoove was that good at all. The MC and Rob Cantrell were way better. Very disappointed, especially b/c that's the only comedy show I wanted to see without a giant snaking line.

Jay Electronica - Could have been good, but he would start talking 1 minute into a beat and kill the mood. No thanks.
And I have to say that I was really disappointed with Dave Matthews Band........after a GREAT weekend of music, I thought he could have brought it more.....very slow
