I am not a fan of the Kings of Leon, really. I own Youth and Young Manhood and that's about it. Never really got into them.
That said: they had probably 70,000 people at their show. Unlike the predictions of many around here, there wasn't 40k there and 20k at Bakerton and 15k at their camp. Did people leave early to go to other shows and get good spots? Sure - I was one of those people (10 people back at Chromeo!) But people do that with every headliner.
Simply put: they put on a great show. They played mostly old stuff, covered the Pixies (a nice surprise), and did a way better job than a Delicious Ham Sandwich would have done. Or Gaga. They were so happy to play that show in their home state in front of that many people and they brought it.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Their new stuff sounded great (easily better then most from Only By The Night). You could tell Caleb's voice was struggling a bit but he did a great job of getting through the set.

Kings of Leon sounded sickj and I think that drew the biggest crowd.........After a while i wentr back to my site......(pod 3 by Vendors) and the band/dj playing at the vendors was drowning out KOL........was a little mad about it!!! but that spot made it up for playing some crazyyy hip hop at 5 am......props to that dj!
After seeing the Kings twice before, I was in agreement with most that although the music is mostly spot on, their performances just weren't that exciting or energetic. I had originally planned to lay back and leave after a half-hour or so to get a good spot for the Black Keys, but my best friend hadn't seen them before and wanted a decent spot so we moved up. I must admit, I was a little blown away this time around and ended staying twice as long as I intended. Way more energy and they seemed determined to put on a great show. I loved the Pixies cover and was glad they played a lot of older material, and by the sounds of some of the new songs, there's definitely no "Sex On Fire" or "Use Somebody" (at least for now), which is a plus. Still ended up getting a great spot for the Keys so the night turned out to be even better than I expected. God, I love Bonnaroo.

I'm a Kings Of Leon fan now. I now say they deserved the headlining spot.
The Pixies cover was amazing.
I was around a bunch of couples dancing sensually during "Knocked Up" which I loved. Unfortunately, my girlfriend left that show early to rest up before Flaming Lips.
I agree, their show was really good. I have seen them a few times and this was by far the best show ive seen from them. They had good energy, something that ive found lacking from them when ive seen them in the past. Also the new songs sounded great.
Kings of Leon was the only Headliner that I wasn't disapointed by, never would have expected that going into the weekend.
