I hadn't met the guy, but that picture with the cigar is totally him. He loved a good cigar. This is weird. Just...it's like when Neal Cassady died. Just confusing. No answers, just stories.
I am just so sad over this! Matt was at brunch this year, I sat with him for close to two hours talking. He got to the brunch about an hour early and hung out for a while.
I really dont know what to say at this point. Having known Matt for 3 years now, as a roo/Inforoo friend..I am feeling really shaken.
I went to DMB and I thought alot about the fact the DMB was his favorite group. He talked Friday morning about really being jazzed for DMB.
He was a great soul, if you had met him, you were better for it!
i agree about the water situation. i will also write to the roo folks...im going to mention some other things too. several times i didnt have water and i went to the water stations and figured i could overheat waiting in that line. i walked back to my camp but i was close enough to do so.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
I remembered waiting on Deadmau5 at the fountains and seeing an EMT cart freaking out yelling at people to move while they gave chest compressions. Said a prayer then that he woulud be revived. Absolutely shocked to find out it was an inforoo'er :-(

Oh my God - I can't believe it. This is just so tragic and unexpected. I didn't know Matt outside of these boards, but he seemed like a genuinely good guy. There was something about him - his smile, his eyes, I'm not sure exactly what - that made me think he'd be the kindest, warmest, most inviting friend I never had. My heart goes out to his family and friends, and those that knew him best. Rest in peace, Matt.
I was at DropKick, and something told me to check my phone. I never do during a concert, so I left the tent. I had a message from Zoie wanting to know what had happened to Matt. I ran (fast walked) to the medical tent and confirmed his death as best as you can due to HIPAA.
I shared the sad news with the rest of my inforoo family. And with their kind hearted help, Katy Mae and I packed up our crap and came home.
I did not know him well, but he was my FB and inforoo family. I share most of my life with my small FB group and some of it with my inforoo group. So to me they are all my extended family.
He loved music and helping people. New Orleans was the perfect place for both.
To his family and close friends, my deepest condolences. I can not express how sorry I am for your loss. He was a kind soul.
I found out while driving home last night and am still stunned.
I talked with Matt for a while at brunch and joked that I'm the reason his cookies should come with a warning label. He was a good guy and will be missed tremendously.

This is just awful news to hear... My heart goes out to all of his family, friends, and acquaintances. As someone mentioned above, may we all be so lucky to pass in such a wonderful place so close to our hearts. He will missed by many, loved by all.
RIP Matt (It is a shame I never knew him well enough to address him as such)

The gravity of this situation hits a little harder today. In honor of Matt I will be wearing my Sanuks to work all week. I am sure there are dozens of Inforooers with comfortable feet because of him.
We all come to the boards to discuss things and ideas with people who are like minded, we become friends without meeting each other. With our inforoo brunch we get to put faces to names. I think my conversation with Matt started off with him saying "Hey sanuks!". I can't recall much else other than exchanging names and screennames. I do think all the cookies were gone by then though. If ever so brief always make the most of the time you have with your friends.

It makes me sad that it takes a situation such as this for me to say this on the boards but: YOU GUYS ARE ALL MY FRIENDS/FAMILY. It doesn't matter if we haven't met, or if we have...all it takes is that "Hey you're on inforoo!" moment and there's that instant connection.
I hope you all know that. It might sound cheesy/nerdy but you all mean a lot to me!

havent been on here in forever (hi...?) but after hearing this horrible news, i have to pay my respects on this thread. I didnt know Matt well, but just looked at my inbox on here and had quite a few private messages back and forth from a few years ago.... I hope his family and close friends are coping as best as they can at this time.

this is terrible, matt, may you rest in peace, and enjoy the eternal roo in the sky. amy and i thoughts go out to his family irl, and the family we have created here. you will be missed.
i did not make it to the brunch this year and did not see him, but i met him a couple times over the last few roo's and definitely had many of convo's on here over the years with him...such a great guy.
so tragic to hear...my heart goes out to his family and friends.

I met Matt at the last couple of inforoo brunches, and we actually hung out for about 15 minutes after LCD Soundsystem. This is terrible news he was a really great guy, a friend of mine had a cookie of his last night and I cried just looking at it.
Matt's family is looking for anyone that was with him Sunday. If anyone on here was or knows someone that was with him this weekend, please PM me and I will get you his brother's number. I explained that we are on our own a lot of the time out there. I know I was.
