Let's say that you must actively attend to at least 15 minutes of a particular act for it to count. Given that scenario, let's hear your best guess for how many different acts you'll take in this year.

32 if i remember correctly. Those are almost all full sets, except for a couple of partials while waiting for another act. The Sonic Stage is going to keep me busy on Friday.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good

44 acts! I will do it too, just have to break my usual thing of seeing entire sets. It really flows nicely on my schedule, however, and there aren't many at all where I have to see less than half of a set. I'm excited!
I'm sorry, but I think the 15 minute set criterion is BS. I've done this before, and just don't think that you can really get the feel of things in just 15 minutes. If a set isn't doing it for you, that's one thing. But to say you "saw" someone for 15 minutes is crap...

^I agree...I'm a full or as close to full set guy as can be. The only reason I'll split is if there are 2 bands at the same time that I just can't miss or if there's a few bands I want to check out that I don't know too well.

I think seeing a half or 30 minute amount can qualify as 'seeing them'...some bands only play 30 minutes as openers when on tour, and you still 'see' them. Either way - to each their own. I'm extremely happy that the schedule works out so well, and that I will see each band in full or at least half! Be happy we get such long set times....at Coachella even the headliners had only 1.5 hours, and most everyone else had 50 minutes or less (including Les Claypool, Avett Brothers, Gossip....and even Faith No More). THAT is when you really can only have a choice to miss someone completely, or see only 15-20 minutes, and there's no other way to do it. Roo wins!
99% of mine are 30 min. or more. i can't give an exact number because i'm not sure what sets i might leave early. there is so much i want to see. in the past i've been mostly full sets. but this year i will be doing a lot more split sets, while still seeing a good bit of each set.
I concede that my complaint is purely semantics; to each his\her own. I just think that if a band has a 60 - 75 minute set, and you see 15, you don't get the full experience.

I'm covering the festival for a magazine, so I won't see too many full sets although I agree that such an approach disrupts the integrity of watching a set start to finish. If I only count sets for which I'm planning to see at least 30 minutes, I'm up around 65 acts. We'll see if that pans out...
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
