bamadancer..... glad you enjoyed yourself. if that stuff gets you off, then more power to you. i just don't get the hype. dont see anything speacil that u couldn't come up with on a key board. he has no build or direction it feels like. sorry. i didn't get the hype over lcd either. i thought they were both equally non-exciting. maybe i wasnt spun enough i guess.
The crowd at deadmau5 was horrible. I left jay-z's show early and got to the this tent before dan deacon. I was close to the front, but it amazed me how many people pushed their way up there. I had 4 6ft tall guys push their way up in front of me and it killed my good time. Seriously had to have my elbows out to keep people from falling on top of me. Then when this kid that was covered in sand started rubbing against me, i just said screw it. walked out to the side of the tent and had 10x more fun. i understand you want to see deadmau5, but people were very rude and inconsiderate that night
wow.... i totally was there during that video and that leno was not epic. laggy i thought u were saying the same thing about mau5 that i did. his music had no build or direction.
I agree, his music is mediocre. But his setup was mind blowing. I thought it was awesome.
wow.... i totally was there during that video and that leno was not epic. laggy i thought u were saying the same thing about mau5 that i did. his music had no build or direction. That's how i felt. never said people being close to the stage was bad. Just think its retarded that the people who had waited up there for over an hour (myself included) got shoved around because some dicks couldn't leave jayz in time to get there for a good spot. They shoved people to the ground on their way to the front. The front should be packed full of the people who waited there. i shouldnt have to watch the people who waited leave because a bunch of pieces of leno decided that they had to shove everyone out of the way to see the mau5 up front. the outside of the tent was awesome and full of wonderful people. this is where i should have been to begin with. i even knew better. i just wanted to be in the middle for one song. trust me all the people i saw pushing up to the front were douchy frat kids. sorry. they do it here at my venue and i know it when i see it. once again, you know a hippie when you see one...... i know frat kids when i see them. i don't care that they are up front but get there ahead of time so you don't have to fight and piss 1000's of people off. if you fill the need to pack if you have been standing there then i guess thats fine, but i just don't want to be packed in because you want to see the stage and once again cant get there early. benny you get my point now? im gonna try to find footage of these douchy kids running through the crowd.
Wow...you are quite the downer. Plenty of people pushed past me to get to the front, and you know how i felt? F*ckin' pumped cause Deadmau5 was rocking my socks off.

I have a theory about being up front that makes some people mad. if you wanna get up front, GET THERE EARLY! If you show up 5 minutes before and you have a group of like 5 people, how is it fair for you to start moving people? Some idiots tried to move me at Claypool...I am not sure what part of their face my elbow nailed "accidentally" but they never tried to get past me anymore.

I will apologize, at least someone here is complaining about one of my friends guaranteed. I however would not let them drag me to the front because like most people I don't believe in moving up unless its just normal spots opening up as the show goes on. I ended up hanging back with my girl then migrating outside the tent where things were more fun anyway. Besides my girl is only 5'1" (I feel bad for her alot at shows) and she could enjoy the cube better from the outside...and then she had to sit cause she thought she was gonna hurl hahaha..... Long Live Mau5

Just for the record, I had a blast a Deadmau5. I keep myself amused pretty well, and I spent the 45-minute delay watching the sound guys set up and playing with the crowd. And since this was the first time i've seen him live, it was worth the wait. The light show was fine, the music set me off, and while the crowd was packed in tight and was a little shovey, it was at least a fun crowd. Pretty much everything I was looking for in a show, short of a rainbow unicorn with nice boobs serving PBR and brownies.

Deadmau5 is in my top 5 bonnaroo shows for 2010, definitely enjoyed the night more than I should have!
I was giving glove lightshows the whole time.. did anyone of you get one from me? You'll know if you did
Were you also doing that at Bassnectar the night before? With the paper 3D glasses? If so my friends and I saw you and got a light show from you and it was AWESOME.
Nope, and yes I did just breathe a sigh of relief. I'd be really bummed if someone was so annoyed they took a picture haha.
Yeah, I had to take a picture. They were just being too obnoxious. Thank you for not being them.
The dudes in the picture pushed their way up to the rail at the very last minute, and some guy who had been there for hours before, I guess, pushed back. The dude in the center of the picture pretty much got in his face and said "If you don't back up, I will knock you the quack out. I swear to god." I posted the picture because I wanted to find out what exactly happened, because as it looked from my perspective, it was absolutely childish and unnecessary.
Afterwards, these guys were pretty much overly obnoxious and loud. When the set started, they pretty much did the thing where they count to three and push as hard as they can to the right so they could get closer to the center.
I had a great time, but I definitely would have had a better time if these neanderthals were never conceived by their caveman parents.
You know, I never thought a simple question would evolve to a 5 page and counting thread...
However, about the people shoving their way to the front. Its interesting to see the different kinds of crowds at different types of shows. Obviously, Deadmau5 was plagued with @$$holes. I went to see Coheed and Cambria a couple of months ago and it was full of pricks crushing everyone to get to the front. Saw Sevendust recently, however, and that was a great crowd! Nobody being pushy or rude. Metallica had an okay crowd, not enough douches to be a downer. Mayhem fest 2009 was another great crowd.
I had no problems with the Deadmau5 crowd. My girlfriend was not feeling well at the time and had to lay down on a towel off to the left side of the tent. I was able to get in and out of the left front-side of the stage with ease.
Also, someone stole the batteries out of my girlfriend's little mister-fan thing. They didn't steal the fan, just the batteries.
I agree that is very childish. These are the same people who if they had taken the time and appreciated waiting for a rail spot would not put up with somebody pushing them out. It's too bad whoever was there first didn't put them in their place. I have wanted to hurt people at shows before but still have not succumbed to that though. One of the reaons I love Bonnaroo because the crowd is so much different than most concerts you find, espescially being from NJ.

I think the difference is that at Metallica, Mayhem, etc... shows, people know there are big dudes like me, Pondo, danger7, who will kick the crap out of you if you start acting like the dudes discussed at deadmau5. I have another question too... DJs play prerecorded music, and deadmau5 wears a mask. Why the hell would anyone want to push up front for that? Not trying to be a downer, honest question. I just don't get it.

Sounds like a "normal" non-bonnaroo crowd. I enjoyed being outside of the tent in the grass (with enough distance from lunar). I could see and hear perfectly and was able to dance in the breeze. If I hadn't already seen him at two clubs I probably would have been under the tent.
