Stevie Fuckin Wonder Seth Avett Matt Berninger (the whole band is fantastic) Norah Jones Beth Ditto Anthony Green Chris Thile Mayer Hawthorne Jade Castrinos Imelda May Dr. Dog Local Natives
This almost begs the question whether there needs to be a different category for best frontperson. I wouldn't say his voice is great, but he certainly entertains.
I realized I forgot my list: Beth Ditto Norah Jones The guy from the National.. can't remember his name Neil Fallon (more for frontperson skills than singing) Stevie Wonder Regina Spektor The Avetts
Stevie quackin Wonder Seth Avett Matt Berninger (the whole band is fantastic) Norah Jones Beth Ditto Anthony Green Chris Thile Mayer Hawthorne Jade Castrinos Imelda May Dr. Dog Local Natives
This is a solid list. I agree with the notion of Seth Avett being the better vocalist, yet I prefer Scott to Seth.
I adopt this list and add one more: Jill Andrews...honestly one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.
I'm listening to Jill Andrews' solo work right now and she certainly does have one of the best voices at the farm this year. RIP everybodyfields I'm still disappointed that I ignored this band until about 2 weeks after they played Bonnaroo, and now they're broken up. So much for that.
I'm such an ass. Don't know how I didn't mention Brandi- she's one of my favorite vocalists PERIOD, nevermind just at Roo. That woman wrenches every last drip of emotion out of every word. It's pretty amazing.
I'm going to go with the combination of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings.
Too bad I can't see them because they are scheduled during Isis
Yeah, Isis/DRM wasn't a conflict for me until I finally decided to check DRM out because QuestionableSanity kept talking about them. Now, I have a conflict.
But I also dig Gene Ween alot. Not the most technical of choices.
Gener actually has a fantastic voice. great range and control, and he's able to be funny as well as emotional. He's probably My favorite vocalist at the fest this year after Stevie.
As for the ladies Tori's probably my favorite, but I haven't heard her sing live in more than 10 years so I don't know how well she's held up.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

Even though she only does a couple songs with him, the answer is definitely Bridget Kelly. She sings the Alicia Keys part of Empire with Jay-Z and brings it to a whole new level.
