Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
One of the guys I'm riding with is a meteorologist and this morning I put the weather staff here at work on the Bonnaroo forecast. They all agree on what we're facing.
It's called a "ring of fire". It means there will be a stationary dome of high pressure near the site that will be hot and stable weather. But along the outside of the High there will be a revolving "ring" of less stable air rotating clockwise.
That means there will be patches of fairly strong thunderstorms roating through Manchester the entire time. It will be hot and humid and then a good 20 minute storm...then hot and humid...then a storm a few hours later.
Actually it won't be THAT bad. Granted, the name "ring of fire" doesn't help. I think we'd all EXPECT hot and humid in Manchester this time of year. What this means is that while you'll see rain in any forecast, it won't be a steady all day thing. There will just be little systems, scattered bits of instability, the swirl past us on a fairly regular basis.
Regular does not mean CONSTANT...but it does mean we're VERY likely to get SOME storms.
Just make sure you bring the right gear and you'll be fine....and if you see anything on the horizon like what we saw on Saturday in 2004...find some cover!
It looks like maybe the High will slowly pass over during Roo! The highs in the 80's early on make me think the High will be west of us bring winds out of the north. Later in the weekend as the High moves East the winds will come out of the south accounting for the 90's by Sat and Sun. (from long range forecasts)

That is very typical TN weather, we have had a day or two like that in the past week here in Nashville and it feels great after the storm and rain pass. Afternoon storms like that are usually pretty short also which is fine with me
^ditto - but last year my crocs gave me a wicked end-of-my-toe blister... I'm going to bring some alternatives just in case, but I probably won't touch them.

The croc thong flip flops are great, I bought those the other day and they are the most comfortable thong sandal I have ever bought. If you have the 32 bucks to spare get them.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

ME TOO! A blister on the very end of my pinky toe, weird...
Thanks for this awesome weather report, at first it sounded bad but the more I think about it the more I like thunderstorms and a quick rain feels good too.

Last year was a freak accident I guess then. Didn't rain till Phil Lesh. It was kind of nice because I didn't really come prepared for rainy weather....I probably won't come very prepared for rainy weather this year either so....nevermind.

we had the same thing, only after the storm today, it got SO muggy and sticky. i'm seriously getting afro-head. still, the temperature is cooler. but holy cow, i could jump in the air right now and get stuck.
Karma for the nice post. We had a few trees down here and a pretty bad thunder storm, so make sure to bring extra stakes and string to tie things down!!.. I just hope a show doesnt get cancelled. I want to see music!!!!!! I also have to work all week at bonnaroo ni this rain.. blah maybe i'll just get used to it.
I can post from my cell phone so i'll give everyone an update daily from sunday - wed.
Dude 2005 the little rain shower during jack johnson and he kicked off the set with Banana Pancakes.....it was the most enjoyable storm Ive ever been prevy to.
Edit: I got a pair of the all terrain crocs with the velcro strap in the back and they are the sh!t. I wore them down to a little river spot yesterday called Blue Hole that has a steep downhill tread to get to it and they didnt slip once.

The minor amount of lightning in the distance made for some funny banter between Jack and the tree climbers though (I love that part of the bootleg I've heard).
