Just for fun as I don't think this will happen....
In 2008, Coachella announced Prince was headling 2 weeks before the festival began. Was it ever reported whether this was a successful move to generate ticket sales?
Let's say ticket sales are not what Roo had wanted (as some have hinted). Here are some of the 'big name acts' that Roo may be able to get to spur ticket sales.
Available: My Morning Jacket Prince Neil Young Bon Jovi U2 (Friday only) Arcade Fire Rush Pearl Jam
Unlikely: Gorillaz (rarely play - may have had exclusive deal with Coachella) Roger Waters (Wall tour not ready - would have to be a one-off show) Soundgarden (may have exclusive deal with Lolla)
Unavailable: McCartney Muse Elton John The Strokes Eric Clapton
Note: I only put bands on here that are actually touring this summer, I would assume acts like Bowie, Daft Punk, etc are not available.
Thoughts? For those that are not going this year, is there anyone out there that would change your mind?

I'm not even remotely expecting any of these to be added...but I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility, especially with the lineup being delayed. But again, not expecting this at all.

I don't expect it either... I tried to make that clear in the post. Just wanted to try to start a thread to get everyone away from complaining about the schedule not being released.

The schedule (which is what I assume you are referring to) has not necessarily been delayed. While it came out May 7 last year, in previous year it typically came out May 20-something. Last year's early release was a pleasant surprise, but maybe they feel as though they shouldn't be held to that early May standard every year.

You could definitely add Pearl Jam or Vedder to that list. They finish there small and very humble US tour in late May, and are off an entire month until going to Europe in late June.

Neil Young still the only "Rumored" act left on the COS web page............only way we get an add is if the Lips cancel...than it's a no brainer to slide MMJ into the notorious Friday late night set...which would in essence boost sales I would assume...but @ this point Im sure they arent losing money

I dont think MMJ will boost sales to a profitable figure. We all want them but we have all bought a ticket already . There is a big correlation between MMJ fans and music lovers than will go to Roo regardless. They are one of my favs however I dont personally think people are going to get off of a fence by just them if they are on the fence at all. A Neil Young, PJ, Waters, U2 thing would SELL TICKETS if thats what they are looking for. Who knows at this point, the only way they will sell more is if they are going to get a significant return on the addition.
i just found out Built to Spill are touring with Kings of Leon. i went barreling to the nearest computer to see if they are touring before and after Roo. I couldn't stop thinking about a last minute addition of Built to Spill. That would give me my 3 favorite bands of all time in one spot (Ween, Built to Spill, Clutch). Alas, the tour doesn't start until July (at least BTS's portion). it was about 15 minutes of incredible optimism before i came back to reality. Now i'm just hungry.
I'll tell you what... if either Rush or U2 gets added, I'll personally buy 2 more tickets (and that's not including the 5-6 of my friends who would then buy tickets)

I'd really like to have the schedule, but when they release it that just means that no major additions will be added. As long as we don't have a schedule, there are still possibilities.
God damn, I would love to have Rush added (although no other bands are going to be added). My ideal top three for the tenth anniversary next year is Rush headlining Friday, Paul McCartney headlining Saturday, and My Morning Jacket headlining Sunday.
