I'm kind of sad over the Police> Femi Kuti and Les/Warren...
While the Police isn't that big of a shocker (aside from some people's dislike of their headlining slot), Femi Kuti has played twice and is one of the better Afrobeat acts the fest has ever had. Police was a reunion tour show, a tour which was forgotten almost as soon as it ended.
I know for a while there, Les was the Ambassador or whatever he was being called of Roo... but with an absence in 07 and 09 (he was present every year prior, right?) his allegiace seemed to slip a little. Warren and Mule is one of the very best bands Roo gets on a regular basis... I am kind of shocked to see it a bit lopsided towards Les (maybe because it includes Primus? Which still kind of confuses me.)
Other than that, these first two rounds seem to just be set ups for the bigger matches; all these seem like they "should" have a favorite, whether there's an upset or not.
in the what, we have sigur ros and white stripes, but im sure ws will win it. wilco v. tom petty is going to be interesting. and ben harper might make a run at beating dmb, but i doubt it
in which, phish v. primus could be good. but the real interesting one will be byrne v. tool
the next two regions will have some insane second round possibilities.. nin v. jay z allmans v. the dead
