Hello Everyone.
I wanted to get some feedback/suggestions from the very musically informed audience that you are. My friend has recently begun to rap. This started off as him randomly freestylin' while we were intoxicated and we all laughed it off. Since then, he has progressed to actually developing songs and rapping over beats he found. After getting past the "Holy S***, my friend is trying to be a rapper!?" stage, I actually think he is pretty good. His message is very positive, his lyrics are deep, and he is much different then the mainstream Lil Waynes of the world that rap about cash, money, cash, money, MJ, cash, money in that order.
I've started to help him out significantly, suggesting beats for him to rap over that are non-traditional hip-hop beats. He has songs done where he raps over the soon to be at Bonnaroo The xx's Intro as well as Sound the Alarm by Thievery Corp. So far we have 2 songs on youtube.. with more to follow.
