What I love about baseball - the grind, 6 months of watching the ebb and flow of your team, 162 games where one at bat could change the game, a series, or a season. Watching names that noone knew before the season started become all star candidates and the city rallying around them. That being said, its tough being a Pirates fan. A 20 year streak of not making the post season and we do it back-to-back (with the 6th lowest salary cap in MLB)only to get slaughtered at home.
Bumgarner was lights out last night so I cant even be mad. However, when you know your GM is too tight with the wallet to go get an Ace for next year, spend some cash on one more big bat or pony up the cash to keep Russell Martin as you're watching Hurdle run through a bullpen rotation as if he was playing a series instead of a sudden death game, it makes me want to pull my hair out. Yes winning a few more games down the stretch wouldve guaranteed us a series instead of this stupid sudden death play in game (again), but I cant go on too many more first dates with the Pirates unless they start putting out.
Also on a sidenote - all of the Giants look like a troop of hobos they acquired off the street. That has to be the most unkept greasy team in the MLB.
SF does have more homeless per capita than any other major city in the US. But the millionaires you saw don't qualify. It's 2014. Ballplayers don't need crew cuts anymore. At least, not out here. Or did you just see them when they had champagne in their hair?

Im all for the non-crew cut look trust me. Just prefer them to not look like the wookie selling gooballs in Pod 1

They are exploding with excitement back home. They haven't had any hope since 1985's I-70 Showdown. Happy for them. God knows KS needs something to look forward to.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
It's nice to see different teams being successful.
Whichever one between Kansas City and Baltimore makes the World Series, I'll be rooting for. Particularly KC since they haven't done shit for a few decades now, and just keep scratching their way into wins. It's the small market team that could.
I've been waitin' all of my memorable life fer my baseball team to go and win The World Series. I've loved them through thick 'n' thin! Most games I got to go to as a kid they lost. But seriously. Please. I need this.
Cardinals super prospect Oscar Taveras died in a car accident. It's stunning and very sad, losing someone so young. Would of been great to seen his career play out, many were calling him the next Pujols.
Looks like the biggest news in MLB yesterday was the game 7....nah it was Joe Maddon is the Cubs new skipper. Joe Maddon! Anyone else think the Cubs will win a World Series before the Bears win a Super Bowl?
Out here the World Series is getting a wee bit more coverage. Orange and Black is the new Orange and Black. Besides, everyone knows Madden's a football guy.

Well, its been good J. Roll. Cant blame you for jumping ship, but it stings just the same. Goodluck in your hunt for another ring, and see ya in 2-3 years when we retire number 11.
Dodgers has decent minor league pitching and well be lucky to land 2 of them for an ageing vet. Ill take RHP or LHP, but with Cole most likely following suit were gonna need some lefties here soon.
Crazy winter meetings! I have to go back and see where everyone went. Too much to keep track of. Interested in see how the Cubs and White Sox do next season.
Where is this White Sox surge coming from? I hadn't expected them to be contending so strongly this offseason.
Largely because of the contracts they offloaded in the form of the Adam Dunn trade and Konerko's retirement.
So, they have a bit of spending money, and are using it extremely wisely. With the additions of Rodon, Samardzija, Duke, and Robertson, they turned the bullpen (our weak point in 2014) in what could be our strong suit, although don't be surprised if Rodon either A. goes to the minors out of spring training or B. becomes our #5. A Sale/Samardzijda/Quintana/Danks/Rodon rotation is sort of scary. But Danks and/or Noesi could also be offloaded.
And Hahn just made a massive improvement at LF. The question is now "Who does he trade Viciedo for?" And that's not even getting to the signing of LaRoche. (LaRoche/Abreu/Cabrera 4/5/6? Fuck yes.)
I think an improvement could still be made at catcher. Flowers is alright, but he could be better.
The inductees for the Hall will be next week. Looks like we will have at least 4 in and possibly 5. I am pretty excited just the fact that there hasn't been no more than 3 voted in and we may have 5 this year. I am expecting Piazza to miss by a few votes, but should get in next year with Griffey and Bagwell. Updated 7:20 ~ 102 Full Ballots ~ (17.9% of vote ~ based on last year) ~ As usual…BBWAA ballot digging is welcome!
