This one's mine (keep in mind, this is from the same game as the famous Varitek/A-Rod brawl where Tek f*cked A-Rod's world up):
Gee, I have so many to choose from that I couldn't begin to single them out. With 42 career post-season saves there are too many to choose from. Your teams don't even have 42 post-season games in that time span. So sorry for you both.

To be fair my team didn't even exist for that entire time span
Anyone have a feeling that Selig pulled strings for Braun when his name came up initially for Steroids? I kinda had a feeling that he was going to beat that suspension that first time around. I want to he has a lot of knowledge of all the stuff that went on prior to the crack down.

That seems like a ridiculous conspiracy. Bud Selig fired the arbitrator that overturned Braun's initial suspension.

Yea that's pretty far fetched. If anything, the fact that he got off last time is part of the reason why MLB moved so swiftly and aggressively with this situation.

There were probably some back-pats after the Braun negotiation finished, but there will be a plethora of awkward old-white-guy high-fives once they make the announcement on A-Rod's suspension. He's like Selig's Moby Dick.

This whole thing is such a double edged sword for baseball. Sure they are "cleaning up the game," and at least the guys being busted this time around are already, at least suspected, if not known users, for the most part, but at the end of the day its still headlines of MLB stars being popped for roids. Something they've been struggling to get out of the shadow of for years now.

If they really cared about your second point they wouldn't be dragging this on for f*cking ever and would just hand out all the suspensions at once.

Actually, my first thought after the news was released yesterday was "What about everyone else?"
I can only assume some of the other guys are still working out deals with the league and/or planning appeals, etc. But who knows
I feel bad for Chris Davis. Miggy is a plump dude, so he's not going to have people calling for him to prove he's clean, but what about Davis?
People are already questioning him all over the place, and the guy hasn't ever been on a single roid-related list. So, Inforoo's MLB contingent, do you think he's clean?
Count me a part of the group that think he's doing this stuff legit and just happens to be having a career year.

I don't agree with the Miggy comparison. Miggy has been an excellent hitter since Jump Street, and has simply made a gradual progression to become the best hitter in baseball.
That being said, I am with you. The fact that Davis went from not even being able to stay on the Rangers roster to his current level gives me a little pause, but I do feel bad for him and would wager that he is doing it the right way.

Ahh, Davis is from my hometown. I haven't seen him play this year. The knock against him when he played for the Rangers was that he always swung for the fences and led the league in strikeouts. Maybe he finally got his troubles with connecting worked out in AAA.

He's got that ogre-level strength where he flicks his wrists and a ball travels 400 feet. His pitch selection has improved and he's already surpassed his walk total from last year.
More patience and improved skill. He's always been freakishly strong as a power hitter, but now he knows how to pick his pitches.

I'm obviously biased, but I think, and really really hope, he is clean.
It is rare to see a guys numbers jump the way his have, but his work ethic and commitment is well documented. Up until this year he would literally swing at almost every pitch. He has corrected this to a large degree, but still strikes out a lot. He also has changed the style of bat he uses, his current one is waited such that its almost the equivalent of swinging a axe, I don't know what kind of scientific impact that has, just thought I'd mention it.
If he isn't clean he is setting himself up for a PR nightmare if he was ever caught. His wife has been pretty outspoken against accusers on social media, and he has been quoted as saying he considers the home run record to still be 61. He's also said that he has been tested, although he didn't give specific times or dates. I just feel like the new generation of baseball players, that grew up during the fallout of the steroid era, are, as a majority, strongly against the use of them and committed to keeping the sport as clean as possible. The Player's Union has been pretty outspoken in saying that they will not defend or support known users, and I think that speaks to the mentality of the players now.
In the years that Davis has played a somewhat substantial amount of games in the MLB (over 80 for the sake of argument) he's put up comparable power numbers throughout 4 separate years ('08, '09, '12, '13). 17 HR in comparison to 80 games, 21 HR to 113 games, 33 last year in 139 games, and then his breakout year this year. If you're just looking at numbers, it looks like a guy who has finally come up with a major league type plate approach to match that flick of the wrist type power he's possessed for years. Obviously, anyone could be doing it, there's no certainty one way or the other, but Davis' numbers don't scream roids the way other players may/may not. Plus, it's not as if the guy wasn't a pretty big kid throughout HS/college/rookie years. He had a big frame to fill out coming into the league.
*If the argument is being made that he's on roids, at least that person should have the decency to think that he was taking them long before this year. The man has been bulky for years, it's not as if he just put on 20-30 pounds of extra muscle this year.
