They also have the second best run differential in all of baseball (yeah but they don't have the second best record that's why they play the games yada yada). I'm not saying they're an all-time great or anything but anyone who thinks someone like Baltimore or even Oakland is better than Detroit because they've won a couple more games out of 70 is a little bit crazy.
What if they are a couple games ahead after 162?
Considering two games out of 162 is a difference of like one percentage point and teams generally have vastly different schedules (though the AL Central and AL West are both weak) I'd say you can't really conclude anything from it?
Is Valverde still officially their closer? Can't believe he was even still on the roster this year.
He wasn't at the beginning of the season. We tried to have Coke close a few games then decided to track down whatever bar Valverde was in and drag him out of it. I don't think he's appeared in a few days but he's still the closer as far as I know.
Whoa, that got a little intense. Let's all just watch Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler throw fastballs for a while and enjoy one of the finer things in life?

The Mets could realistically have back-to-back Cy Young winners during seasons in which they've won like a combined 140 games. That would be pretty damn impressive.

I have him in our 18 team league, a complete juggernaut you mere mortals can only gaze upon with complete wonderment.
My steals in most leagues are Goldschmidt, Samardzija and Carlos Gomez. I have those guys on every team I have $ on and I'm winning each of those leagues.

Chris Davis has been a joy to watch this year. We gotta tighten up the pitching or the chances of moving beyond the ALDS will be nonexistent. But the lineup has been killing it. Highlight for me is seeing Machado continuing to develop into a top notch ballplayer.

And they just took two out of three from one of the greatest teams ever assembled in the history of baseball.
