It's early, they'll start getting hurt like always.
Which is still preferable to sucking, which the Mets are right around the corner from doing.
Yeah I'm crossing my finger they stay healthy. I feel like their is a positive outlook however with most of the team decreasing in age versus years past. The Braves were aging for awhile but they have been able to utilize this young talent and it's paying off at the moment.
The Mets have had some bright spots with Buck leading the league in rbi's. Not sure how long he will be with the Mets but it's paying off at the moment. Now if they can build up some pitching consistency.
This Mets season was never about how it started, it'll be about how the team finishes when they start promoting the young guys.
And when they do, the team will probably go on a run since those young guys are better than the guys they have starting for the most part. And when the team goes on this run, Mets fans will not get excited at a glimpse of potential future beasting, but instead b*tch and whine about the team not promoting them sooner and ruining the season.
They pegged this as the transition year for the Mets as soon as Sandy got here. I can only hope the transition goes as nicely as it has in Atlanta.
I'm expecting something like 18 total starts from him. Is that too optimistic?
Nah that’s realistic. It’s just frustrating because when he can stay healthy for a full season (which I think has only happened twice, maybe three times) he’s been a real solid middle of the rotation guy. A lot of Brewers fans hate him cause he just straight up fell apart in the 2011 playoffs, but he was their best pitcher that season besides Greinke. Always loved Marcum.

The Mets do have good young talent. I wish i still lived in Virginia Beach. I used to go to the Norfolk Tides games and got to see all of them coming up Triple A to the MLB team. I would consider it a transition year as well. I mean they have talent their but I imagine they are going to be sellers at one point this season to pick up a few along with young talent they will bring up.
The Mets have always been a thorn to the Braves as I feel like they always stop the Braves from doing something awesome through the past seasons. I imagine they will be taking that place again soon. This would be preferable to those darn young whipper snappers the Nats.
I am fully aware of what he signed. That means other teams gave him minimum/minor league offers, and the Nats gave him the only offer he received above that.
How does this refute him not being in high demand?
I think they wait until June, but if the team plummets and has a .350 winning % in May they'll probably say screw it and promote him. You know, since the Coupons are a-holes.
Basically, you take all the players who have less than 3 years, but more than 2 years and put them in a pool. The top 22% of those players in terms of playing time are eligible for arbitration.
So the longer they hold him out the less likely he is to be a part of that top 22% of Year 2+ players and they hold his rights for another year.
ESPN posted the Jeter one on FB, and I just googled "High School scouting reports" in Google images and the Maddux one came up. Couldn't find any others based on very little searching.
Did you post Jeter's as a symbolic obituary of his career?
As much as he was a Brave killer, I will be sad to see Jeter go. A true legend and he played the game the right way in a dark era for baseball.
As a Mets fan with a general dislike for Yankee fans, I've always respected Jeter and Mo. Before Yankee fans ruined it for me, I actually enjoyed rooting for those two guys.

Same here. Completely happy with having them as such prominent faces of the game.
I think about this way too often to be considered healthy.
I bet you lost your sh*t.
There are four sports moments where I legitimately lost control of my actions and am thankful I didn't kill someone:
- Larry Johnson's 4-point play - Santonio Holmes' corner endzone catch against the Pats in the 2010 playoffs - Robin Ventura's grand slam single. - That endy catch.
I was in college and in a bar in the Bronx that was mostly rooting for the Cardinals since they were all jerkoff Yankee fans.
Needless to say, I nearly exploded when that happened.
Then Ollie Perez shat himself and Beltran took a nap. And that was the highlight of the past decade of baseball for me
Looks like the catching situation down here is going to get very complicated come June. Already starting to hear rumblings of dealing McCann for an arm. I just don't know how to feel about it all.
Hey!...that's ok. '06 was so seven years ago guys.
Thanks for reminding me I was in college almost seven years ago. F*ck.
On the plus side I loved the late 90's-mid 00's A's so watching them sweep the Twins that year in the dorms where it was like 40% Twins fans was pretty awesome. Stupid Tigers had to kill that dream though.
Desperately been trying to figure out what clubhouse it is. Probably Veterans.
EDIT: Just noticed the hats are Richmond, so I guess it's some AAA park. Nah. It was Veterans.
I believe it's the triple A Richmond Braves. I grew up lucky enough to get to go their games in Virginia and watch Chipper and Andruw during their time spent there.

Nice. I saw Andruw play in Greenville one time when my dad lived there.
I just figured it was somewhere besides Richmond due to the away jerseys.
