So I just realized that the US opens its World Cup this summer on the 12th of June against England which is obviously the weekend of Bonnaroo. This is definetly not going to keep me from attending the Farm but it is just a bummer because the US squad is going to have a shot at pulling off an epic upset against the English. Just wondering if anybody else had thoughts on this?

that would be sick...that is the only game that i would care about catching a few minutes of...you give me a US win and a weekend of great music and it could make for a legendary weekend

The time difference from SA should put the game on fairly early in the day, assuming it is an evening game. That would be a great way to spend a morning.
im pretty sure they played the games in the cinema tent during the last world cup in 2006
That's not possible. The Cinema Tent is no where near big enough to house a soccer stadium.
I wish they wouldve shown some of the Stanley Cup finals last year. Being a huge Pens fan, woulda been nice to catch some of the game on the farm. Maybe because the finals were moved ahead last year idk.

The game will be shown in the cinema tent. If ya want to see it get there early. They definitely showed the 06 game against Italy. I wasn't early enough, and didn't get in. I will most certainly not miss this one.

Good to know, I have been debating if i should watch any world cup while at the farm, but it sounds like a lot of fun and a getting some ac in the middle of the day will be great as well.

I fell asleep in the movie tent one night in 06. There were like 10 people in there. 2 friends and I ate some corn in there (when you still could) and woke up on the couch to hundreds of people screaming and cheering. didn't realize a game was on but it sure was crowded.

thanks for all of the info on this....i am sure that the tent fills up pretty quickly but i am sure that it is a racous enviorment during these big games. I am hoping for a W but am also a realist and know that if we play our game we can play with anybody but we are going to have to fight an uphill battle to do well
Missed it in 06. I have a question for those who made it in though. How early did you get in? I was thinking about not going back to camp the night before, sleeping somewhere in Centeroo, maybe even in the cinema tent and being ready to go. Are we still allowed to sleep in the cinema tent?

I emailed bonnaroo asking if they would have world cup coverage and they will this is their response:
Hi Manuel,
Yes, there will be world cup coverage in the cinema tent at Bonnaroo 2010. Thanks for your interest in Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and stay tuned to www.bonnaroo.com for the latest updates.

^^ the world cup is a lot different than the stanley cup.... the world cup is an event that happens every four years, and it unites people for a common cause, cheering on their country. showing the stanley cup finals could potentially cause people to separate between the two cities, which isn't what bonnaroo it about

There will be no better way to experience that opening game, besides being there and if you've priced that trip as of late it is astronomical, then to be surrounded by a tent full of people that don't know each other but are simply brought together by their love for the sport
In 2006, you had to be in line at least 4 hours before the game. My friends who got in line 3 hours early didn't get in. I did talk to others that snuck in, though. I really hope that they try to show this in a tent. It'll get fire-marshall dangerous in the cinema tent this year.

was there in 06 or italy game---too much fun--great crowd.unfortunately last year bonnaroo didn't realize how many of us would have loved to watch the stanley cup finals--would be just as raucous.
