Because if you add a new stage, you need to have a lot more staff there on Thursday. If the tents are open later, you only have to have the present staff stay a little bit longer.

^^I agree with all of this, but if my memory serves correct, which it often doesn't, weren't Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, and Kanye all scheduled for about the same time in 08?
The way the festival is set up now, no one style really dominates, so it's less likely that you'll see genre conflicts. I really think that each night you'll have one jam/rock stage, one hip hop stage, one electronic stage, one "indie" stage, etc.
I agree to an extent. Last year, though, Friday night was an electronic\dance-heavy night. (I know, I know, I'm lumping Girl Talk in there, but I think there is some relevance in doing so.) That was the first time I have ever experienced a near-single genre late night. It was a little disappointing, especially considering that there was no electronica\dance going down on Saturday night (other than the Discoteque of course). Saturday night '09 was much more representative of what I expect 'Roo late night to be like, other than the lack of techno.

And, to be fair, it wasn't quite so homogenized. For instance, in the first block of time (outside of Phoenix), you had Phish vs. Public Enemy vs. Crystal Castles vs. Femi Kuti. That's pretty diverse.
True. I spent the first part of the night at Phish, so I forgot about the "early" acts. In retrospect, it was a pretty diverse late night given the special conditions.

Yes, and no.
Lupe and Kweli played in the same tent - the "hip hop" tent which went The Coup -> Lupe Fiasco -> Talib Kweli -> Chali 2Na.
And Kanye was indeed scheduled at the same time, though that was an unusual situation. As the lineup was originally planned out, he was playing at 8 PM, so there would have been no conflict.
here's the thing, if the mock latenight schedule i posted earlier was the real deal... the jayelectonica/kid cudi would probably go until about 2ish, with the biscuits starting at 2:15 or 2:30 and Jay-Z probably wouldn't go on until 2.... again just speculation.

Anyone think Conan gets a latenight set? I do. If he plays any other time, no one will be able to see him...at least if he plays late night, the crowd will be thinned out at other shows. I"m just excited to see him MC the What.
Maybe. Conan's schedule has him performing (outside of his MCing duties) on Friday. I see Bonnaroo having Conan doing his comedy show during Kings of Leon, who I believe is headlining Friday.
From @coslive on Twitter: From our new interview w/ Bonnaroo co-founder Ashley Capps: Jay-Z will play mainstage Sat. late night and all major acts have been released.
That being said I really hope all those late nights aren't jammed together on Friday. That'd be too much.

July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
I sure hope not. Gosh, you had to be there when it was still almost 4:30 in the morning and the guy still hadn't come on. Though I kinda lost track of time after the Ghostland Observatory.
these all seem well and good but you never know who else Bonnaroo will add, especially since they have so many acts left to announce.
If the Gorillaz are added I see them doing a late-night set, also I'd be willing to bet another 1-2 electronic/dance acts will be added, clearly playing in the late night

especially since they have so many acts left to announce.
That's probably not true. I'd say we have 4 more artist additions left, and I'd venture to guess they are all for the rumored (but confirmed by AC) Latin Tent.

Sorry man, the whole lineup is basically full. All cafe acts left. There will be at least one or 2 gems in the cafe though (last year, Russian Circles) I'm hoping for Phantogram this year. Imagine this lineup though if Gorillaz replaced KOL.
waaaah, thers no way Jay-Z, Disco Biscuits and LCD Soundsystem don't conflict in some way shape or form
I'd go with the Biscuits, if I had to choose between that
so will i buuut these are #1(tDB), #2, and #3 for me, and theres a solid chance two of them conflict, if not all three at once. if either conflicts with biscuits, no brainer. but LCD vs Jay-z will be a tough decision. tDB vs LCD vs Jay-z is worst case scenario, and it seems pretty likely
