So far This is Happening is my favorite album of the year so far and LCD Soundsystem is the act I'm most excited for for Bonnaroo.
That said I still haven't listened to Forgiveness Rock Record much yet. that and I'm expecting High Violet to kick everyone's ass. but Murphy has almost outdone himself here. The only reason it's almost is because he's already made two awesome albums.
Anyways the highlight of the album so far for me is probably All I Want. There's plenty of good tracks that I know I'm gonna love, but that main riff on All I Want is just unstoppable
Agree with you mxh, "All I Want" is a stunner on the album. Not a dud on the entire record, although Drunk Girls leaves a hint of a sour taste.
I will say that "Pow Pow" WILL be an awesome live jam. Those congas light up the night, and the guitar chimes remind me so much of Talking Heads "Big Business/I Zimbra". Rent Stop Making Sense on DVD sometime and watch the Heads' live take on Big Business. I foresee Mr. Murphy blowing the roof off of the tent on Friday night.
That video's bonkers. This dude's just about got it all: makes great albums, puts on a killer live show, has lots of fun with it, gets taken plenty serious by the cognoscenti. By the time this record comes out to a pile of rave reviews, finding an extra inch in that tent's gonna be a real challenge. Not necessarily a bad thing!
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
I will tell you what. I was already pretty excited about these guys, BUT after the web-cast, forcing me to dive deeper into their catalog, and the release of this new album. These guys are pretty much one of my new addictions. Well done.
Edit: I'm sorry did I say release?

No I was being serious. A lot of his songs sound very similar to some of his biggest influences songs. I think it's one of LCD's endearing qualities, not something that detracts from his music.
!!!What He Said!!!
James and LCD wear their influences on their sleeves, loud and proud. That's part of the fun listening to their albums IMO.
Dance Yrself Clean / Pow Pow - Talking Heads straight up Never as Tired As When I'm Waking Up - Beatles / G. Harrison On Repeat - Gang of Four?!? New York I Love You - Lou Reed (especially in the guitar solo) Somebody's Calling Me - Velvet Underground?!? Movement - All Punk rock All I Want - Smiths/New Order
I cannot wait for this show! 2 hours please, on the big stage if possible! Biggest dance party ever, way bigger than this one (watch entire video):
Look for me there, I'll be the other "fat guy in a t-shirt"...
