When I read this on the lineup it was probably in my top 10, but after seeing those videos this is definitely a must see. Would love to see this lead into or follow Stevie Wonder, so much funk.
It's very ironic that both Diane Birch and Monte Montgomery are also playing bonnaroo this year...
In fact, I'm hoping for a Live From Daryl's House SUPER JAM! I know daryl has been talking about doing a live concert that involves people from LFDH, this is his chance to do it!

Really looking forward to this, especially after watching those videos. I'm a big Hall and Oates fan (guilty pleasure?) but haven't listened to any Chromeo before. Definitely a must see

Haven't heard Chromeo? Seems like you're a little OUT OF TOUCH
I'm sorry, you'll have to excuse me and my really bad puns.
Given this act was actually included in the lineup, I foresee the following equally lame collaborations (dressed up in hipster irony) coming down the pike: Avenue D reunion feat. Debbie Gibson! Ghostland Observatory feat. Huey Lewis! Lady Gaga acoustic set backed by 4 Non Blondes!

I should book festivals. I would probably save AC/Superfly mad $$$.
But in all seriousness, this is one of those ideas that becomes instantly awful the minute you put on an entire Hall & Oates or Chromeo album and listen to it start to finish.

You're wrong. I'll explain.
First off, Hall & Oates are terrific - they made some of the best pop music of the 80s, and their music crossed races (really, their music would get play on urban stations and fans would go to their shows thinking they were black). Daryl Hall is a terrific musician and songwriter.
Second, Chromeo make music that is VERY similar to H&O - they're a duet who makes funk. It just so happens that Chromeo is making this music 20 years after H&O so it's a bit more electronic. After watching the videos of these three playing together it becomes obvious to anyone with a brain and even one ear that they know what they're doing. The three work well together. There's no hipster irony -- just really good musicians who work well together.
If you don't get that Daryl Hall is a terrific musician and that Chromeo are quite good on their own... I don't know what to tell you. There's a reason why so many DJs pack their sets with "I Can't Go For That" "Out of Touch" "Private Eyes" "Rich Girl" and "Maneater" (remixes and originals) and so many hip hop artists have sampled them. Even Michael Jackson himself said that "I Can't Go For That" inspired for "Billie Jean".

I don't particularly like Michael Jackson. I think Ghostbusters sucked. I think the 80s was by far the worst decade for music in the entirety of the 20th century. I think Chromeo has a few good songs and a whole lot of crap ones. Every dj I know who spun them got instantly tired of them and moved onto groups that weren't so niche oriented. DJs also like to spin DJ Assault because they think it's funny. Irony is also a form of mockery. Hall & Oates are undergoing a resurgence in the same way Rick Astley did a few years ago. Oates probably gets this as he no longer wears a mustache.
I can respect your love for all things 80s. I get the nostalgia. But this is a nostalgia act playing with an act that models themselves after a style of music that died for a very good cause....the cause of better music.

I'm not really. I just suspect the resurgence in Hall & Oates love has more to do with ironic hipster mustache fads and cheesy music videos on youtube than genuine love.

This explains a lot. One of the five most important, influential, and best figures in music history and you don't like his music. Says a lot about you.
The DJs you know apparently don't know much about music because it says a lot more that the DJs I DO know (myself included) play Chromeo and Hall & Oates quite a bit. DJ Assault? That's weak stuff and a gimmick song (assuming you're talking about "A$$ & Titties") in the first place.
Rick Astley got "popular" because "Never Gonna Give You Up" was used by 4chan kids to "rickroll" people. It's not like his MUSIC was what did it, it's the absurd video. That didn't happen to Hall & Oates.
Oh, and people shave because... well, it's what they do. John Oates shaved his mustache because that look isn't in anymore.

Oh my gosh...me and the large majority of the world don't listen to Michael Jackson. It's crazy, isn't it? That an artist who can sell more albums than anyone else in history can not be listened to by the majority of people who are living!?! It's as if people have diverse musical tastes or that some of us don't like albums filled with cheesy pop ballads about children unifying the world sung by a guy who was probably a child molester. Hoo ray for diversity!
Do I think Beat It, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough and Billie Jean are good songs? Yes. Do I think Hall & Oates wrote some good songs? Yes. But the majority of the songs those acts wrote, I do not like.
Look. I'm not going to hate on your taste if you sincerely like Chromeo and sincerely like Hall & Oates. All I know is that I smell a whole lot of hipster bullshit with this act. Let me explain it to you from a place of my own fandom.
I've been to a couple Daniel Johnston shows. I love his music. His sets are pretty interesting (although I wish he played the damn piano instead of insisting on playing guitar). But I don't think I'm going to go to another Daniel Johnston show because the "bullshit hipster guy there to gawk at the crazy guy" crowd is waaaaaay too high.
So yeah, I could lie to myself about how I feel about Chromeo w/Daryl Hall or Daryl Hall w/Chromeo and smirk to myself in the back of the tent or I could go somewhere I actually like the music. Which if I'm at Bonnaroo is what I'll end up doing.
