Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Inside? No way do you get searched. You can be arrested (for doing something violent) but not for anything else. But on the way in, you can be searched very easily and justifiably. I'm glad they search people - because I'd hate it if they didn't and someone brought a weapon and hurt someone.
And if you're complaining because the cops took your corn or something like that, then you're stupid. Because that stuff is an easy get once you're inside.
Billboard.biz Q&A: Bonnaroo's Jonathan Mayers February 11, 2010 - Touring
By Ray Waddell, Nashville
The Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn., which will tee up its ninth edition June 10-13, has become the top grossing festival in North America and one of the biggest musical events in the world. On Tuesday, the Bonnaroo lineup was announced featuring such headliners as Kings Of Leon, Jay-Z, Dave Matthews Band, and Stevie Wonder. Jonathan Mayers, president of Superfly Presents, co-producer of Bonnaroo with A.C. Entertainment, spoke with Billboard about Bonnaroo 2010.
Tuesday was the big reveal, but I’m sure most of the heavy lifting was done some time ago in assembling this lineup. Jonathan Mayers: We started programming in the summer, and by August we started making offers. That’s why you see me hanging out in the festival, my work’s hopefully done by then. I want to have as little responsibility as possible.
With the lineup, people may be looking for the “wow” bookings, but to me Bonnaroo is more the sum of its parts. But five years ago this might have been considered the riskiest Bonnaroo ever. First off, you’re never gong to please everyone. The great thing is that people care. When people are debating music, that’s a good thing. To me the festival is all about not only presenting artists people know about, but turning people on to new artists. As a brand, we’ve got to continue to evolve and take chances and not be complacent, and I think everyone in our lineup makes sense and works within what our vision of Bonnaroo is. We’re really proud of the lineup and Bonnaroo feels just as strong as ever. It has to be gratifying to watch Kings Of Leon move from a tent a few years ago to the main stage this year. I get real excited when we start thinking of Bonnaroo as a great marketing platform that can really help artists get in front of a lot of different fans, even beyond the physical event, what happens those four days. How can we continue that conversation throughout the rest of the year? When we look at bands like Kings Of Leon, the fact they played the tent stage to maybe 1,000 people and now they’re headlining, that’s a really exciting thing. Hopefully that can happen more. I do think Bonnaroo has the power to help artists and artist development, and that’s the bigger vision. Bonnaroo has also come to the point where when you book acts like Jay-Z or Stevie Wonder or Jamey Johnson, compared to Tool or Metallica in the past, you’re not shocking anybody now. We are going to grow our event and brand by continuing to take risks. We can’t be the same place we were five years ago, where people can say “I’ve been there, I’ve seen that.” For the long term, taking risks will give us the ability to bring a lot more programming into the fold and expand what Bonnaroo means. But, hey, with risks you’re not going to make everyone happy, especially some of the people who were there from the beginning, but if you look at the artists, whether it’s Stevie Wonder or Jay-Z or Kings Of Leon, these are great artists with great music. And if you don’t like one particular act, there’s 10 other things going on. The big rolls of the dice Bonnaroo did a few years back seem to have led to wider appeal. You want it to keep evolving and growing, you want to work with different artists. We have to remember what is the core to what Bonnaroo means? I don’t think it was ever about “we’re just going to focus on one specific genre.” If we had done that I’m not sure Bonnaroo would still be relevant today. In terms of talent, did you get most of what you wanted and are you satisfied with what you had to pay for it? Well, I always like to pay less. But yeah. We got about 90% of what we wanted. There were a few acts that wanted to play the show. but because of all the different factors, whether it’s scheduling or the record was delayed, there were reasons they couldn’t. But I’m a believer that it works out the way it’s supposed to. If you put it out there and you’re talking to people and it doesn’t happen, well, it will happen when it’s meant to. There continues to be many artists that we want to check off the list to be part of the Bonnaroo experience, but there’s always next year and hopefully many years to come.

Also from 'Fuse' twitter: Seems like there is going to be more Bonnaroo surprises today. Will keep you posted twitter.com/FuseOnDemand
So the headliners are actually DMB, KOL, and Stevie??? Is anyone else actually happy about this lineup? How did they go from such an amazing lineup last year to having a headliner with a band like KOL on top? And how is KOL ahead of Jay Z? I dont even care for Jay Z either but last time I checked he was way more popular than KOL ever will be, along with about dozens more hits than KOL as well. Guess im just shocked thats all... I guess every year cant be as good as the last sometimes. I can only hope that either KOL, or DMB play Sunday night so I can just leave early. I will say I do love a lot of the lower bands on the list and this will still be a great time.
Oh and I dont have any problems with Stevie on top! I cant wait for him to show KOL what a headliner should be. His set will blow everyones minds!
Two years in a row somebody in our group were searched be DTF cops with guns entering the camping area. It's random and unconstitutional. I have only had the cops search me once in four years but it was way more intense than the volunteers. They were going through everything like they were thieves looking for some lute and not putting things back. It is not cool at all. We haven't got in trouble. It's the simple fact that it's an invasion of privacy. Wait till it happens to you.
How is it unconstitutional? You are going onto private property and AC/Superfly has the right to search you. They bring in DTF cops to do it and you get searche As someone else said, if you don't want to possibly be searched, don't frackin go.
I didn't know DTF was on the 2010 lineup. I'll be sure to look them up on iTunes.
And how is KOL ahead of Jay Z? I dont even care for Jay Z either but last time I checked he was way more popular than KOL ever will be, along with about dozens more hits than KOL as well.
Well, on last.fm KoL have more listeners than Jay-Z. On Facebook, they have more fans than Jay-Z. On Rate Your Music, their albums have more ratings than Jay-Z (albeit lower ratings). I'm not saying these are the authoritative metrics for popularity, but consider that KoL may be more popular than you realize.

I noticed the same thing on FB when friending artists prior to the lineup announcement. Some strange numbers in there for sure, but you're right when you say that it means absolutley nothing.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
What I would like to know is how DMB, KOL and Jay Z (who is making the US festival rounds) are really a risk? Maybe because they know the Bonnaroo'ers will not be too pleased with them?

Concerning the Lips late night set, I'm really glad that Coyne (who I admire as a true professional after the '07 pre-set) let us know how it was gonna go down. I can catch the Lips set and then go see other things on the late night. Sorry, but I've listened to their "reinterpretation" and I don't want to hang around another 90 minutes to watch them take a sh*t on DSOTM.
I've wondered this for a long time, and I guess the lineup just brings it back to the forefront: How did Kings of Leon become a headliner-level band? Some bands you watch as they go from relative unknowns, then put out a sick level of energy at their smaller shows, which leads to greater word-of-mouth, and then they get big. I'm thinking along the lines of MMJ, and to a lesser extent, Umphrey's.
But Kings of Leon? I saw their Bonnaroo set in 2004, and again in 2007. I've also caught them at a 3/4 capacity show at Deer Creek, and a headlining set at ACL in 2009. I'm not arguing that they ARE popular enough to headline, but I'm just trying to figure out what sets them apart from any other average rock band. To me, a band like OK Go would've seemed just as likely (or unlikely) to headline a festival like Bonnaroo at this point in their careers. What sets KoL apart? What am I missing?

Head on over to the Free Downloads of Roo Bands threads for probably the best post ever made to this site. It's a bunch of albums that you can download with a few clicks. I even accidently posted it at 4:20 inforoo time! hahahaha
I've only been to roo the last two years butI have never seen anyone being searched by police inside the campgrounds.
I never said I was searched in the campgrounds. I said entering the campgrounds. I'm not trying to start fights. I'm just stating the facts to part of the reason I need a good lineup is to deal with the crap like this. It happened to us the last two years so be careful. They really went through our stuff hard like they would a criminal suspect. Patting us down, digging through everthing, smelling everything. It sucks.
We didn't get in any trouble but everybody else they had in our line were getting tickets and some arrested. It's crap when it happens to you. Sorry if I beleive that this is unconstitutional when everybody isn't being searched to that extent but we were.
I know most people will still have a good time and thats awesome. We were going to have a bachelor party there this year. My friends wedding is the next week just because they knew I liked going to bonnaroo. With this lineup and the cost of the whole thing we are going to thow one hell of bachelor party instead.
See em do darkside? And yes they are most definately a wow band.
Have you heard their version of Darkside? Not too impressive, imo.
Dude, I love the original Dark Side, of course. I became a big Lips fan only a few months ago, as I finally got into really good music played later than the 60s.
When they covered Dark Side I downloaded it and was skeptical for a little while because who the f*ck covers DSOTM? Balls man, Coyne's got maracas. I waited for a while before I could make myself listen to it, because I didn't want to hurt my view of the Flaming Lips, if they had ruined one of my all time favorite records.
I f*cking love their version of it. Moments sound like the original, and a lot of it sounds like their twisted version of it. It obviously doesn't live up to the original lol, but a damn good try. Can't wait to see it live.

Ok Go headlining any festival let alone Roo? BAHAHAHHAHAH. Dude. Get yo head checked bro. I mean I'm definately not a KoL guy, but Ok Go? Seriously. Laugh My Mother F*cking Azz Off
thing is they also say McCartney was rumored, but guess no go... more I read the more I seem to think that major people backed out... not sure if Simon backed out or if he signed the contract and is the next "Big Surprise"
not sure if youre up to form with live daily, but it is the biggest music tour source on the internet. Been reading it for over three years and its never wrong on tours and tour dates. Not once have they posted a wrong article.
