So I got this on my Facebook today.
"PLASTIC BEACH LOOMS INTO VIEW...Plastic Beach will be released on 8 March, 2010 (9 March US release/other International dates).Five years on from the release of Demon Days, Murdoc Niccals and co. are back. The band have taken up residence on an island deep in the South Pacific, made up of the detritus, debris and washe...d up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet.Listen out for first single Stylo featuring Mos Def and Bobby Womack, available for download from January 26th and playing on a radio near you sooner than expected...
Plastic Beach is produced by Gorillaz. The full tracklisting is as follows: 1. Orchestral Intro (featuring Sinfonia ViVA) 2. Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach (feat. Snoop Dogg and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble) 3. White Flag (feat. Kano, Bashy and The National Orchestra For Arabic Music) 4. Rhinestone Eyes 5. Stylo (feat. Bobby Womack and Mos Def) 6. Just thought that I would fuel that Gorillaz fire.

This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
It's definitely album of the year so far. I mean there are two or three songs that don't have much going on, but the thing is so interesting as a whole with a few songs like Broken, Superfast Jellyfish, and On Melancholy Hill being among their best.

This thread is hopping for Which. I'm loving it so far. Standouts are Rhinestone Eyes, Empire Ants, Some Kind of Nature, On Melancholy Hill, and Plastic Beach.
I'm wondering why the hell Stylo was the single. I don't dislike the song, but there are better, more immediate songs that could have been the single.
Nobody really knows what makes a single work. They may have thought that song would be huge.
I love how Jeff Tweedy of Wilco would explain that they have no idea how to write a radio single. You can try as hard as you want but in the end it's really up to luck and timing.

Well to me there's a difference between intentionally trying to write a single and picking the most immediate song off of the album. The record companies should have someone that can easily pick that out. I'm sure most of us could have picked a better single for Plastic Beach. I'm not sure what the single off of W(TA) was, but I bet You Never Know was it, or at least it probably should have been.
