IMO, a sell-out is different from "we stopped selling tickets," which does happen EVERY year...
It all comes down to how you define "sell out". I don't know how to do that, other than going by what's announced by the promoters. And they've announced it almost every, if not every year.
Totally agree with the definition issue. It makes more sense from a promotions standpoint to just say "we sold it out, and you got a ticket." With an event at this large a scale, I think a "sell-out" is very much a product of the company; if they want to sell x number of tickets, they will...
Sorry if this has been discussed already...but are we expecting the lineup to start trickling out after midnight? They're supposedly releasing it throughout Tuesday right?

Dunno about we, but I am expecting it at Midnight, just like last year. We shall see.

not sure if this means anything, but the Bonnaroo Myspace page just removed its top friends. we might wanna check there for some leaks, no?
they are probably just getting ready for tomorrow... after they start announcing im sure the bands from this year will be their "top friends" the USA Today article posted above says they will start making the announcements at 10am via Myspace

Don't like the myspace announcement. Work= filter=no lineup all day.
if you can go to bonnaroo.com or this site you will be up to date within minutes........if you can't go to either of these sites then you probably wouldn't be able to see the lineup anyway.
I think the bands are going to be able to announce that they're playing Bonnaroo on myspace first, and then Bonnaroo will announce the full initial lineup at 10 AM. That's just my feeling. I really don't think they'll make us wait 10 hours with NO info

You know since they are saying lineup unveiled at noon and the tickets go onsale at noon I don't see them dropping the lineup all throughout the day. Probably all at once. Just my two cents.

thank goodness for smart phones. i'll be wedding dress shopping with my bride-to-be friend ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL day. i just REALLY hope they give us SOMETHING at midnight...
well all Bonnaroo.com says is to check their Myspace pages on the 9th for a special unveiling. to me, that doesn't rule out at least some information coming out at midnight. i know USA Today says 10am, but how many times in the past has some website said the lineup will be out on such and such day at such and such time and it's totally wrong?
it just seems like to put the iine up at noon and start selling tickets at noon will be mass pandemonium on the bonnaroo site which will make it soooooo slow, and probably crash it a million times. i wish they would give us the line up all at once at midnight just like they always do, and then start selling the tickets 12 hours later... it just seems like there would be way to much action on the site all at once and it would cause trouble. also this myspace malarky, come onnnnnn what are we 15?

Isn't that something they might say when they intend to release it at midnight? Make it feel like a treat to the "insiders" who know that they've released at midnight in the past? Release it at a time when their target demographic would most likely be able to see it?

i think something really cool would be if Bonnaroo told all the artists to come up with their own creative ways to announce it. I mean the article says it will be released through Myspace music and other means. like Avett Brothers announced that Scott (i think) will "levitate" on Feb 9th (pushed back a week from Feb 2nd). What if they said come up with your own ways....be it video, song, myspace, twitter, etc. that would be pretty sweet
