Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This thread is for the folks with too much time and too much excitement for Bonnaroo 2010.
Come up with a lineup featuring 70 artists (friday, saturday, and sunday) that YOU THINK will be on the lineup. Again this is not who we WANT (think FantaRoo) but who we believe will be booked. It will be interesting to see who has the most when the lineup comes out. Good luck to all.
Here is mine

Rolling Stones (Bruce Springsteen) Phish (The Dead) Phish #2 (RHCP) Beastie Boys (White Stripes) Nine Inch Nails (Daft Punk) David Byrne (Muse)
and i'm assuming your saying SCI is the other headliner but that is sort of off-the-wall considering Wilco was billed above SCI in 2007.
If i wanted to be super-realistic i would take off Daft Punk and add Flaming Lips. But otherwise it seems right, except of course it doesn't represent a couple genres im sure will be represented (world music in particular)

For people who think I'm just putting down Rothbury, I'm not. Bonnaroo is a bigger festival, with bigger headliners, with a bigger more diverse audience (not just hippies anymore.) Rothbury has some diversity, but it'll be 20 artists that fall outside the jam band norm instead of 95% like Bonnaroo. The only festivals you can compare Bonnaroo too in terms of headliners (not atmosphere) is Lollapalooza and especially Coachella.
Thanks for starting this thread. Just out of curiosity, why no Rap/Hip hop act billed higher than Mos Def?
Well, i worked on a few drafts that had Jay Z in there, but in my mind Jay Z and RHCP wouldnt both be there. But then again thats what i thought about Beastie Boys/NIN.

I think Jay-Z would be there before RHCP. One of the only feasible headline rappers left to play Roo(Outkast is not feasible in my mind, Andre 3000 maybe.) I feel like there are more bands like RHCP that could go at a lower level on the poster than rappers like Jay-Z.
I agree with you for the most part but coming from casual fans of both artists, RHCP is LONG overdue at Roo. It could very well be their first show back from hiatus and for an artist like John Frusciante to have not played the biggest psychedelic festival is a crime. I agree with you that Jay Z is the only rapper i could think of who is conceivable and could be high up there in the lineup.

If the Stones and Peppers headline next year, chances are I'll be skipping those shows. That would without question be the lamest set of headliners yet... The Dead would be cool, but it's happened before.
With headliners like that, I'd expect the under card to be absolutely stacked.

Stones = living legends. Without question, they're one of the greatest bands in the history of rock and roll. You'd have a hard case of saying anyone but the Beatles and Led Zeppelin had more of an influence on rock than they did. Have they ever played a festival? Getting them would be beyond huge.
Chili Peppers, despite you not liking them, are a huge draw, put on a great show (depending on who you talk to), and are highly respected. They've headlined most major festivals (at least Lolla and Coachella), so it's not like it's some shitty random band like Nickelback.
The Dead are always welcome in my book, and probably in most people's. Considering that it might be the last time they can ever play Bonnaroo (who knows when they'll be around again) and it hasn't happened since 2004 ... I think it's likely and would be a big draw. Bonnaroo has changed a lot since they were last there.

I'm gonna keep adding to this:
Rolling Stones Foo Fighters The Dead Daft Punk Arcade Fire Muse Allman Brothers Band Queens of the Stone Age Black Crowes Mos Def George Clinton and P-Funk Them Crooked Vultures (late night SuperJam) Levon Helm Built to Spill Arctic Monkeys Thievery Corporation Monsters of Folk Doves Bat for Lashes Little Boots
Foo at Roo would be a pretty good replacement for RHCP but i doubt they will be playing til Vultures is over with. And i want Arcade Fire more than anyone except Daft Punk.
.......and Street Bum you have no idea how much humor i find in almost every episode of Walker, Texas Ranger.

I'll never discredit The Stones for their importance and some of their music was great, but I don't want to see the Stones... now, in 5th decade of their career. Just doesn't sound too appealing to me.
Peppers would be a great draw, no doubt, but I just won't be there... I wasn't at the majority of any of the headlining shows this year, and only 2/3 the years before. I'll find my fun elsewhere.

They arent really a draw to me either, just trying to be realistic and get into the minds of AC/Superfly. They only have so many places to turn after Springsteen last year (Stones, McCartney, Neil Young) and there are only so many "modern friday" bands big enough to headline (RHCP, Jay Z, Foo Fighters)

They have put themself in the position to do WHATEVR they want for headliners/lineup. Their not worried about your "modern friday" bands or having to keep Sat night similar to the Boss. Its Bonnaroo. They do what they want.
While details remain a bit sketchy, as Billboard reports and this teaser trailer confirms, The Black Keys have teamed up with hip-hop heavyweights Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, NOE, Nicole Wray, Billy Danze, and, somehow, the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard for a brand new project called Blakroc.
The collaboration reportedly got underway in early summer in Brooklyn, N.Y and will come to fruition on November 27th when Blackroc releases a yet-to-be-titled album. According to Donewaiting, The Black Keys served as producers of the effort, which will consist of 11 tracks and be released on a label started by Dame Dash and The Black Keys management.

Lets just see what happens and see who's right. U very well could be correct but i would be surprised to see them change their approach after 4 years.

If Bonnaroo got Cream to headline, that would make an insanely awesome show. They would probably not wanna do it or it would be super expensive. It would be really cool if they had the Red Hot Chili Peppers on as a headliner. A full on David Bowie doing Ziggy Stardust would pretty sweet too. If they could get Andre 3000 and Big Boi back together Outkast would fit perfectly into the atmosphere of Bonnaroo. Imagine if Outkast and the Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined one of the nights.
For minor bands I would wanna see a lot more diversity. Legends like The Stooges and the Bad Brains both have great stage energy and have what it takes to play Bonnaroo. Maybe they could get Billy Bragg to do a solo acoustic set. Toots and the Maytals should be brought back. Yellowman would also be a good choice for another jamaican act.
