I was completely speechless when I got into Centeroo just as it opened on Thursday to find one of the dumpsters spraypainted with the word Kanye and penis draped over it. So awesome. It had to have been done by someone on the set up crew, right? I can't imagine that it would be more cost-effective to purchase your own dumpsters than rent for an annual event...
AMEN! I'm so sick of people talking about their 50th DMB show, and acting like Roo is only for dirty hippies. Um, I'd rather waste my money on seeing legendary acts than the same guys over and over.

Agreed. (Except when it comes to NIN, which is now a moot point).
I wish there was a video of him playing every studio track. I would buy that in a second. I don't play drums so I can't really back up the greatest statement, but he's definitely up there. He's my personal favorite, but I think Danny Carey's probably better
I was there to see Kanye suck. The glorious Ghostland Observatory/ Lupe Fiasco/ Phil Lesh evening juxtaposed to that poser on stage makes it all the more satisfying. When I hear quack Kanye or Kanye Sucks or Kanye Worst or any of the many other variations, it makes me smile. For those of you who were there, quack KANYE. Ask Robert Randolph, he knows. Next year will be more of the same. Its Bonnacode.
if i remember right, it was from Robert Randolph and his set in '08 that i first heard the cry of "Fuck Kanye" during a particularly awesome rant he went on about how unprofessional it was of Kanye to leave his fans waiting for hours in the early morning cold like he did. it was an amazing thing to hear, and i really hope someone has it on video somewhere. we all left chanting gleefully into the late afternoon sun..."fuck kanye! fuck kanye!" and "kanye sucks!" it still makes me smile whenever i think of it.

Danny Carey is better. He's about as good as they come.
And I joined in a couple of times with the Fuck Kanye chants we heard in Pod 1 all weekend. I'm still not tired of it.
My two cents: All of this 'Band X sucks' stuff is disrespectful, arrogant and dismissive and I wish folks would be a bit more considerate and tolerant. You don't like a band? Fine. I have no problem with that, that's your opinion and you're entitled to share it. But it's disrespectful to do so in a way that belittles those that disagree with you. It's disheartening every time I hear it here because overall Inforoo is a welcoming, open-minded group that is welcoming of a lot of variety.
An example: I do not particularly enjoy Widespread Panic. They're not my thing, whatever. I'd rather not see them headline Roo again but I understand that there are others who like them and would not mind seeing them headline every year. That's fine. My point is that I can still respect the fact that others find happiness in their music and for that reason I'm not going to say that the band sucks and demean their tastes because they are not the same as mine.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, even if you disagree!

Normally I am respectful of musicians and fans, and I don't go around yelling that such and such sucks. But I make an exception for Kanye. I think there's a general consensus among bonnaroo-ers that he does, indeed, suck. Mostly due to the late night fiasco last year. Plus, I never thought he fit into Bonnaroo to begin with. For me it's all about his ego. I don't think his music is too bad, but I just cannot stand someone with an ego like his. And that's what makes this 'kanye sucks' thing all the more funny. Because he takes it so personally. When I read this the following morning " But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I've ever had in my life. This is the most offended I've ever been... this is the maddest I ever will be. I'm typing so fucking hard I might break my fucking Mac book Air!!!!!!!! " it made my day
Oh yeah, I forgot where I posted this. Alright, I mean what I said everywhere BUT here. What Kanye did was a d!ck move and most of the comments are geared towards his personal behavior towards Roo-goers as fans and I think that that is legitimate. And the Kanye sucks rallying cry is really more of a slogan galvanized by Robert Randolph than intended as a blanket generalization.
But everywhere else, none of this "Band X sucks" stuff!!!! : )

at andrew bird there was two groups of first year people talking about how awesome it was and how they are already planning on coming for next year. then they got into last year and their exact words were, "last year was the most sellout year cuz they had kanye" and i chuckled to myself. this year was better, but last year was amazing and NOT being at kanye was a huge part of the awesomeness.

Only time I heard him mentioned was waiting for snoop to come on. They announced he was 5 miles away or whatever, and two guys in front of us said "Aw quack it's Kanye all over again. quackin' rappers," and left. I thought it was funny, esp when snoop came out 5 mins later.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I was woken up Saturday morning by the camp next to us blaring Kanye at about 6:30am after maybe 2 hours of sleep. Not only were they blaring Kanye, they were loudly discussing his 'immense artistic vision' or somesuch nonsense. Anywhere else but Bonnaroo that whole situation would have played out much differently. With a marked lack of diplomacy.

My camp put up some FuckKanye on the walls, the best was putting up "Bathroom----> Kanye" with the Kanye being right above the grass line and we saw people pissing on it!

To those who dislike the chant you can always come up with your own.
"Kanye is a mediocre rapper who is blinded by the glitz and glamor of fame and should be given a break! Don't you think?!" okay yeah now EVERYBODY! "Kanye is a mediocre rapper who is blinded by the glitz and glamor of fame and should be given a break! Don't you think?!"
