Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm going to try to go with what I think might happen, not what I want to happen (although I'd go to this Roo if it happened).
Friday: The Cure (rumored this year, possibly to see what the reaction would be) Saturday: Jimmy Buffett (I think this year's mini set was a trial balloon) Sunday: My Morning Jacket (they should be back by next year and they earned a headline slot with the 2008 set)
My "I wish" set:
Friday: Rush Saturday: U2 Sunday: My Morning Jacket
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
i think The Who, David Bowie, and possibly McCartney would make great headliners i for one really do not want to see the likes of u2 or RHCP this is just personal preference. I'm really hoping for what someone posted earlier, that Phish begins to take over Panic's hold as festival mainstay
I really dont think Muse or Arcade Fire are anywhere near big enough to headline. Muse should definitely be a late night IMO and Arcade Fire, I see as the last act on the Which stage before the headliner. And I dont see the Allman Bros or MMJ as headliners either really.
Potential Headliner-ish Acts (Acts In Bold Already Appeared at Bonnaroo)
60s: The Rolling Stones, The Who, Simon & Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, The Dead, John Fogerty, Van Morrison
70s: AC/DC, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, CSNY, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, Roger Waters, Rush, Leonard Cohen, KISS
80s: U2, The Cure, Prince, Morrissey, Tom Waits, Paul Simon (solo), Depeche Mode, Metallica, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
90s:Dave Matthews Band, R.E.M., Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Phish, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Tool, Pixies, Jane's Addiction, Bjork, Green Day, Oasis, Widespread Panic, Faith No More, Blur, Portishead, Foo Fighters
00s: Coldplay, Daft Punk, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Muse, The Killers, Jack Johnson, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket

Arcade Fire and Muse aren't big enough to be a sole headliner but they could share a spot like David Byrne did with the Beastie Boys. That is why I listed stages next to them. Muse would have to be on the main stage with their set-up. They could work for a late night as well though.
MMJ and the Allman's are not big enough to headline a Friday or Saturday but I don't see why they couldn't close out the festival. I mean we have had Widespread doing it way too many times, so it would be nice to have some fresh blood in there.

I think MMJ will be soon, but just not right now...maybe after one more spectacular appearance they can start closing out the fest
Also, I think Arcade Fire is in the same position as White Stripes, they just haven't proven themselves live at Broo yet so they're Which stage headliners

What do MMJ have to do to close the festival? Last year was the best show I've ever seen period, and most of the people who stuck that show out to the end agree. It would be a great change of pace from the normal jam closer.
Haven't White Stripes played Bonnaroo in 2007 closing out the Which Stage? How do they need to prove themselves live at Bonnaroo? In terms of them being a live touring act that would be a reunion, they'd almost have to be a headliner. Jack White's continued to play with the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, and when fans of those bands look back on his back catalogue with the Stripes, they will probably continue to grow.
Arcade Fire would be one of the most packed artists on the Which Stage if they were to play. Check out the Coachella Dvd song to see how they command a crowd and you'd agree. Their music is pretty much worshipped by the under thirty crowd, and when you take into account they haven't done a full tour in awhile, this would be a huge get for Bonnaroo.

What I meant was Arcade Fire is in the same position as the White Stripes were in 2007, that's all. They've yet to prove themselves live @ Bonnaroo. The White Stripes will be a headliner soon, if not, then late night special set, I think.
MMJ is still a "new" band on the tour scene. The thing about WSP, Phish, The Dead, etc. is that they've been around and have created a following. MMJ have yet to do that, I don't think. I think Galactic or the FLips would be better off closing the fest now than MMJ, cuz they have more of a following. MMJ would definitely be top 8 or top 10 on the list if they were to release next year's lineup right now.

MMJ is one of the few bands I can think of that can go between the genres of jam and indie rock seamlessly. Perfect time to bring together the masses of different likes of people left on a Sunday night. There is no way Galactic would be able to close out the festival unless they were the backing band for a larger artist than they are accustomed to. But I would not complain though if MMJ had another late night set. I just think they are ready for a promotion to the big leagues at Bonnaroo.
The White Stripes- Wilco Spot from 09. 2 hour show before Rush.
Arcade Fire- Late night which stage spot a la MMJ in 08.
My Morning Jacket- Sunday Headliner
Allman Brothers Band- Sunday Preheadliner
George Clinton and P Funk- Friday Preheadliner
that would be a NICE top of the bill for next year. A few other notables that i'm thinking might be around are Sonic Youth, Cake, Derek Trucks Band, The Shins (to close Which Sunday), Nas, John Prine, Black Moth Super Rainbow, STS9, The Wailers, Feist, Lupe Fiasco, Blitzen Trapper, and Portugal The Man.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
If MMJ closed (like ive been hoping since last year) it wouldnt command the crowd Phish had this year but it would be more packed than Widespread in 08.

P Funk needs a late night, since they play for a LONG time (though they have done plenty of short sets at festivals). Also, they may not be big enough, so we need to add Bernie Worrell or Bootsy or some other special guest. Maybe then Bernie would sit in with a bunch of other artists.
Otherwise I love this as the top of the bill. That would be three headliners I'm interested in, which I've only had this year. Lots to like in your undercard, too.
And in the Bonnaroo Beacon on Sunday they made a comment about how not many could rival the boss and his stage show (or something like that)...............except maybe the Rolling Stones.
How about Musictoday "accidently" sending out that Stones merch e-mail?

Well if it is going to be The Rolling Stones I hope they don't disappoint with the other headliners. Rothbury isn't necessarily my thing and neither is Lolla and those are the two main options for summer fests from where I sit in MO. Clinton and P-funk would be amazing for late-night. If Bonnaroo doesn't consider them big enough then they could just stick them in The Other Tent after the Stones and I could make sure and get a good spot But what about this for a late-night? Thom Yorke solo. Some guy claimed to have inside infole at atease, the radiohead fan site, claiming Thom has a solo ready to be announced whenever people over there seem to believe the "insider" and Yorkes playing a fest over in Europe sometime this summer. But that's definitely me trying to force a wish into reality.
And I understand what youre saying wolfman. I agree there's a point where Bonnaroo could turn too much into the other big fests that I wouldn't like. Maybe I just have to much faith in Bonnaroo maintaining its personality.

Thom Yorke late night in a tent would be absolutely incredible. Anybody who's listened to the eraser can see that would be amazing at 1:00 in the morning.
do you guys honestly think the white stripes are headliner status? I mean they are GREAT but in no way headliners. no WAY
IMO if Jack Johnson (scheduled headliner) and Widespread Panic can headline.....why not the White Stripes? They are arguably as "big" as the bands mentioned and can definitely put on a great show.
That said.......I don't think they will be headliners. Not next year or the year after. But Jack White needs to get his ass back on the farm ASAP
Widespread Panic, although they garner a bunch of hate on these boards, are a huge jam band with a huge following. White Stripes, while some may say are a better band, do not have as near as big a following as WSP and their fans are not near as devoted as spreadheads. Widespread has headlined festivals for a long time....white stripes have not. Widespread also incorporates a bunch of crazy drums and an array of instruments, giving the feeling of an actual 'band'. With the White Stripes, we pretty much know what we're getting. Jack White tearin down the house and melting faces for a solid hour and a half. I honestly don't think they could play for 3 hours like headliners do at 'Roo.
And this is not meant to bash the White Stripes, I am a huge fan and I would love to see them come back. But to say "well since widespread has headlined, white stripes can." i just dont see the reasoning. Even Jack Johnson has been known to make collaborations and stuff on stage....jack white not so much

Yeah, seeing that in my inbox... I was like uhhm thanks for the GIANT RED FLAG Bonnaroo lol
White Stripes are in the awkward position of being too big to play anything but a headlining set, but not exactly having the same widespread commercial draw that other bands have. They are a huge name, don't get me wrong, but when you compare them to the other headliners (Bruce, Phish, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Tool, Police, Dead, DMB, Metallica)...you can tell who the odd man out is. Although with a new album they could be on the same level. MMJ is probably one step below White Stripes but also in the same position. Too big to play anything but a headlining set at 'Roo, but they don't have the commercial draw to get people to drive to TN for 4 days when they see them as the 3rd name on the list.
I also say that Phish should take over Widespread's role as the "house band".
i'm open to rap music, but i've never really been into outkast. i always see stankonia listed as one of the best albums of the '00s, and i see a lot of people praising them hear and the coachella board. they're decent, but when i listen to rap i'd rather listen to dre/jay-z ... just wondering.
