Soundgarden will play in the daylight if they are there
I really believe they will be at Roo. Roo may or may not do the double Friday headliner. They may have done it last year because they had so much Friday night talent billed. If they do this again Soundgarden will play in Byrne's spot and I dunno, 311 will play in Beasties. Jeez this talk is getting ridiculous. I'm not gonna post anymore in these prophecy threads.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
i disagree with this. i consider myself quite the large base music lover and i don't know tons of soundgarden. i think this has to do with my age (25). their first album was put out when i was 4 and their last when i was 12. they have definitely dropped in popularity and i almost never hear them on the radio or anything around here. i think superfly has to think about the age base that is going to be at bonnaroo and even though there are quite a few people there over 35, most of the people are ages 18-28 and i honestly don't think soundgarden is huge with that age group. the reason other 'older' bands have been headling (aka phish, metallica etc.) is b/c they are still putting out records, touring and are familiar to the average person who is going to bonnaroo.
i think headlining has to do with current overall popularity.
I'm 25 and my husband is 26 and we pretty much know everything by Soundgarden. In middle/high school they were one of the bands that I remember listening to alot. They were a major staple in the mid to late nineties music.
So when we heard about the refomation I immediatly searched to see what thier plans were for the summer. I have this quote from MTV.com but it was originally from Billboard
Billboard reported that the group is weighing offers for several major U.S. and international festivals...
The Superfly twitter responded to someone's tweet by saying there would be some "old school" band headliner. Probably shouldn't look too much into that as the person who tweeted used old school in their tweet, but Simon and Garfunkel, along with Duran Duran had songs in Old School. Also, Chad (RHCP) looks quite similar to Will Ferrel. Just saying

This ain't djjdfarmhound clue spreading deal. I think they meant old school by bands that have headlined the festival before during the "early" days a la Dave Matthews Band. Hence, the quotation marks around old and the fact that DMB is rumored to be the jammy headliner this year.
^And commence the syntax debate over what "old school" means. It could mean a lot of things. Frankly, with the lack of solid headliner rumors, I think the official announcement will be a relief. . .
I hope and pray Soundgarden is there, but I doubt they would be a headliner. Maybe the Beastie Boys spot from last year if they do the same thing....which makes me wonder who the "Phish" spot would go to...
I haven't kept up with the thread, but does anyone believe there's a chance we could see Neil Young? I have no reason to believe so, but I'm curious to hear from anyone who can present legitimate reasons why there might be a shot at seeing him in June.
I'm getting doubtful. Jack said earlier that He was becoming a HEAVY rumor for Rothbury.
^^Garageland, check your PMs for more info on that.
I don't want to get people's hopes up by saying it's a definite thing, only to have them blame me in case it doesn't come to pass - but yes, I'd say there's a pretty good chance of Neil at Rothbury.
did anyone catch Cage the Elephant last year? It was one of my highlights....that kid is a rockstar through and through. They have a clean slate for their 2010 Tour.....here's hoping they come back
The Gorillaz play with something like 30 paneled screens spread out across the stage and animation in 3D so it actually appears like they are onstage but in cartoon form. When Dethklok plays shows the actual band members play on stage, and are also quite impressive.
To be fair we don't know what Gorillaz live show will be around next year if they even tour at all. It could be the screens, the holograms, or most probably something completely different and awesome.
Avatar, The Concert! Bonnaroo, the Video Game!
Honestly, I've never seen the appeal of these guys, just not my thing I guess... put them up against Soundgarden

I was at this show and I would probably say it would be in my top five of the weekend. Their whole performance was REALLY good. I hope they come back as well and I think that if they were to return in 2010, they would get a much better time slot than a tent opener.
