I am jealous of the people that had the foresight to sleep through the boss. But hey, I did get to hear a Christmas song! wtf
haha, yea i woke up to see them playin santa is comming to town, wasnt sure if i was really seeing that and decided to go back to sleep till it was time for NIN
I really regret not seeing this show. I was planning on listening from the camp site, and had to stay after grabbing a lantern with my bare hand, but have really enjoyed everything I heard and have seen since.

I think that proves that it really is just about the quality of music/live show. You silly metal people say that they're good so I won't complain about them. KOL has a rather large growing consensus that they are boring live. Plus I can judge youse sombahdey on my own as incredibly annoying and douchey. How dare they ruin my Bonnaroo.
**edit** I guess if they do come they'll be the official band that gonna ruin Bonnaroo tis year.
These boards are just a small percentage of people that go (or not). (But you already know this ) Personaly I'd be ok with them being there.
KoL was one of the reasons I went to Roo in the first place. Way back when. Out of three shows, they played there, I saw 1 and walked away from 2. Not because they were bad, but because the sound issues were redonkulous. I havn't seen them anywhere else.
BUT I don't see them headlining. TOO EASY. I see them as our(Alternative/Rock) Late Night Which Stage band.
Wasn't there an article in The Tennessean that said they were headlining the last time they played?

Don't remember that, but you can be sure it was not in The Scene. They have a long running feud with KOL. I would go so far as to say they hate each other.
^^ I am probably wrong then. I just remember something about them saying they were headlining and as it turns out they were just playing the What Stage.
I really believe the headliner that has been around for less than 10 years is the Gorillaz not KOL or whoever else everyone has been talkting about. They have a new hyped up album coming out this spring, they're a well respected band, they'll probably be touring, and they were formed after the millenium
I'm with you on this one. Also, I have heard, their live show kills.

i might be thinking of a different interview, but i remember caleb followill saying that they told festival organizers (in 2007, about their 2007 appearance) that they would only play if they were playing the What stage... [i'm sure that bit of info will have the KOL haters frothing at the mouth]
and yes, someone said it earlier, they hate The Scene and The Scene hates them...
I love how everyone says Soundgarden won't headline. I know it's sacrilegious to "diss" Phish, but honestly, more people know who Soundgarden are than Phish. It's just that simple. (I fully expect to be in the negative cruniches after this post) They're a big enough name on their own, but in recent years, regardless of good or bad press, Cornell has made a name for himself with Audioslave and his solo shit. If they're there, I expect them to headline. I could see a Friday night performance.
I'm also thinking the Gorillaz, in regards to the "wasn't formed before 2000". Even though they were, but their first album/EP didn't come out until 2000. I don't hate Kings of Leon, but they really aren't a big enough name. Gorillaz are, and at one time were the most talked about band in the country. And I've also heard their live show is fantasic. Isn't it sorta like Dethklok, with the band members playing behind a screen, where the cartoon members are "performing"? That would be awesome.

Soundgarden won't headline, and your crazy to say they're bigger than Phish. Maybe album sales wise, but Phish is a touring force. I don't see people following Soundgarden around anytime soon. Sure they're go to a show near their city, but very few are going to go on tour with Cornell and the gang. And it's been bad, bad, terrible press for Cornell, you can't really sneak in a good anywhere near his solo career.
I don't even like Phish that much by the way.
And Gorillaz would be awesome, but I'm thinking they're playing Coachella.
I don't think we've ever been kept this far in the dark on who the headliners are. Usually by now, we know one or two. There are the rumors, but nothing substantial. Makes the lineup release that much more exciting
I'm still going with McCartney as Saturday's headliner. He's retiring, and even if it's just for a while, they need to get him now while they can. I think Sunday's going to be Dave Matthews Band. As for Friday, I have no clue

If It was something like McCartney/Gorillaz/DMB I'd be very interested in 2/3 and would probably watch all 3 sets in their entirety.

There is a part of me that is beginning to think that Lady Gaga may not be as out-of-the-question as many of us thought, given the infamous 10-year clue from CoS...

The Gorillaz play with something like 30 paneled screens spread out across the stage and animation in 3D so it actually appears like they are onstage but in cartoon form. When Dethklok plays shows the actual band members play on stage, and are also quite impressive.
I haven't kept up with the thread, but does anyone believe there's a chance we could see Neil Young? I have no reason to believe so, but I'm curious to hear from anyone who can present legitimate reasons why there might be a shot at seeing him in June.

To be fair we don't know what Gorillaz live show will be around next year if they even tour at all. It could be the screens, the holograms, or most probably something completely different and awesome.

i disagree with this. i consider myself quite the large base music lover and i don't know tons of soundgarden. i think this has to do with my age (25). their first album was put out when i was 4 and their last when i was 12. they have definitely dropped in popularity and i almost never hear them on the radio or anything around here. i think superfly has to think about the age base that is going to be at bonnaroo and even though there are quite a few people there over 35, most of the people are ages 18-28 and i honestly don't think soundgarden is huge with that age group. the reason other 'older' bands have been headling (aka phish, metallica etc.) is b/c they are still putting out records, touring and are familiar to the average person who is going to bonnaroo.
i think headlining has to do with current overall popularity.
