This guy absolutely blew me away! He should have been on a main stage, imo!
I caught his first late night act Thursday night when i was wondering back to my campsite alone. I told my buddies about it the next day and they didn't believe me until their jaws dropped when they saw him the following night!
For anyone that didn't stumble upon his vendor tent off of shakedown, you might have missed one of the best performers of 2009!
I was also blown away by Zach. He does a similar loop/playback thing that Keller Williams is known for. Zach is an amazing guitarist, he has a beautiful voice, and can put together a jam that has everyone dancing.
I was camped about 50 feet from him. Dance to him all Thursday and Friday nights. He was great. And I could carry my 1/2 gallon of whiskey to the show.
But the dude never slept. He played every night until sunrise making it hard to sleep (thank God for xanax.). By Monday sunrise I was ready for some quiet. I also wish he hadn't played over the headliners (even though I was at most of them.) Just seems a bit inconsiderate, IMHO.
Still, if you missed Zack, you missed one of the really good preformers of Roo '09.

caught him latenight after phish on sunday. holy crap! it was like the main stage had moved to shakedown. there was a huge crowd...glowsticks flying, flags waving, people groovin...i was so glad i stopped to hear him...the dude is GREAT!
yeah he's fun. He plays a bar right near me at least a few times a month. usually just open mics too. didn't even know he was there. if i wasn't camped on the other side of centeroo i would've seen him
Crap! I didn't know about this. The guy is ridiculous. He does sets at Bear Creek and plays in the campground into the wee hours. I hope he got some donations cuz he had a bunch of gear stolen recently. Wish I would have known he was there!

I was very close to him aswell, but I loved winding down and going to bed to his music, he was so much fun. I bought 4 of his cds that he was recording on the spot for 20 bucks, we listened to each of them twice and the long drive back home, such great chill music, its been in the backround of my room since I got back.

My buddy I went to Roo with was really good friends with Zach's tour manager and the whole weekend was trying to check him out. After Phish, we were stumbling back to our friends' campsite for some late night campfire singing and we happened upon Zach Deputy playing off Main St. That dude was f*cking fantastic. I couldn't see much because there was a ton of people in front of me, but what I heard kept me going on a natural high right after Phish had just laid down some serious magic.
This guy was ridiculous. He never stopped playing. I loved camping just up past shakedown street so I could stop by his show every night when I stumbled home. I think this should graduate him to Centeroo for next year.
Caught Zack Sunday and recorded this. Did anyone stick around when everyone threw the hay up in the air? This past Friday in Asheville I went into a bar on Lexington Ave and I found him again playing. I got his new CD titled "Sunshine". On his facebook page he says he will be selling all his recordings from Bonnaroo + his new CD for $90.
