The flames on any tiki torches I've ever seen aren't really all that small...
I went with several friends on a camping trip over Memorial Day weekend and we had 4 tiki torches around the area we were all sitting and two of the torches completely caught fire and burned down to the ground. I think the container of the fuel must have gotten too warm and developed a leak or something, because the whole basket caught fire and eventually the entire torch burned to the ground.
If you need more light, use battery powered lamps or something, not tiki torches.

I saw some people have them taken away last year by the roving Roo police.
It is worth a chance if you want them that bad I guess, as you wouldn't be losing much if they got taken away. I would personally suggest the LED lights for the canopy.
I've definitely heard of tiki confiscations. Also, I don't want to be the one responsible for somehow burning down 40,000 tents. I'm taking battery powered light.
yea has anybody ever actually used them? i dont really want them to turn up during the search and bring a lot of attention to my car
in that case, you might not want to bring them.
positives - if they don't find them, you have some extra light at camp, although at night, you'll probably be at a show, no? i mean, that's why you're there...
negatives - if they do find them, they won't let you bring them in and you just wasted your money.

is it really necessary to have extra lighting for your campsite? because, i'm too broke to buy sweet battery powered lights, or a generator, and i was thinking about looking for the small paper lanterns that run from batterys at the dollar store, but since it's supposed to rain i wonder how well those would hold up...
so, will i be able to find my life at night, or will it be pitch black? i thought there was some really big lights around the sites to at least aid your way a little, right? i mean otherwise, walking back to your camp would be a *bit* of a hassle...

After 3 years, I've found that the only light I really need is a small L.E.D. flashlight that takes one AAA battery. This is what I use to find my camp at night. In "06 they actually gave some out in the goodie bag when you got your wristband, although it was a cheap one that didn't last long. I've bought two at Mal-wart for $3 each. They worked great for a while, then died. I'm gonna exchange both on the way to Manchester and see how they hold up before resorting to a different model.
Once I'm at camp, I'm either having a quick meal and a couple of beers before heading back to Centeroo, or just crashing for the night. I've got a 14 L.E.D. rechargeable handheld spotlight for use at camp. It does a good job for finding things in my truck and in my tent.
It looks like it is going to dry up throughout this week (rain is slowing down). if the grass gets to dry, and a flame gets the grass... you could be looking at endangering a lot of people! Try to stick to the guidelines, the organizers know how to keep the grounds safe for all.
