so yeah. today i got the call that my employer can't afford to keep people on staff with the amount of money he is bringing into his joint so he let me go. with only a little money saved up for roo i have no choice to sell my ticket. same exact thing happened to my friend today from a different employer. i worked at a pizzeria she worked for a company that sold kitchen appliances. small businesses are really getting f'd over and only now do i feel the extent of the economy's wrath. i think i'll be able to sell my ticket, but from someone who has been to bonnaroo the last three years and only 8 days before this year's... i wish all of you the best time and have fun at PHISH!!!!
i got laid off from the post office back in april, tax day actually... i was anticipating it though so i got my finances in order before hand... planned it all out so i could still go on my unemployment money... but that sucks so close to roo
Major bummer. I would be crushed. Kudos to you for making the tough, responsible choice, though. I don't know if I could be trusted to do so were I in your shoes.
jpbrez - if you had a free ticket, would you be able to make it?
he's got a ticket. he's missing the spend money.
i'm surprised nobody started a collection plate for the dude. just a week or two ago a collection was being started to buy a ticket for one of getfresh's friends........and he doesn't even post on inforoo . that collection didn't end up happening because the guy wouldn't be able to make it anyway.

It sounds to me like he is selling his ticket because he is now trying to save money due to suddenly not having a job.. not because he doesn't have enough for roo.

this.
sure i have enough money and a ticket to get to roo now, but when i get back i'd be broke with utilities to pay plus worrying about next month's rent. i think i'll just sell my ticket start looking for a fast easy job, and maybe hit up camp bisco or gathering of the vibes. just sad i'm gonna miss phish. never seen them before and i thought bonnaroo as my first phish show would be pretty epic. just thought it was crazy the same thing happened to my friend on the same day (who also was going to roo but she'll probably have to sell her ticket now too). wondering if it has something to do with the summer employment rate. employers are hiring because they think they'll need more work, but numbers come in at the end of the month and they realize they just cant afford to keep a certain number of employees. ahhh fml.
honestly, you can really do festivals for relatively cheap. people bring a lot of spending money but it's really not necessary. If you have your ticket and camping equipment, you're really all set. Those are the most expenisive things your would need. You can borrow equipment from friends if you dont have your own. Carpool to save on gas and buy cheap food.
I went to mountain jam this weekend and my boyfriend and i spent a total of $14 at the actual festival. $10 was for a ski lift ride and the other $4 was for fried oreos. We didn't need to even use that $14
We spent less than $20 on all our food for the entire weekend by bringing it from home. We drank the free water and ate well all weekend long. we even came back with enough food to feed us through half of roo.
just some ideas... but if you can't make it hope to see you at vibes this summer
Wow , yeah i really can say i understand this. I have a friend who i am almost in need of supporting his roo trip, due to Circuit City's failure and him not able to find work. I Honestly offered to give him 100 + dollars to live off of so he can make his payments with whatever else he brings in. I can see his pain and the fact he told us yesterday he was on the verge of selling everything he has for roo that's when iwestepped up for him. Maybe someone else can lend a small helping hand for you. Good Luck Mate.

i drove by a circuit city the other day, and right across the street was a tweeter. of course neither are open now, it was kind of a depressing snapshot of the economy.

I had a friend go to schwagstock who brought 200 bucks there, ended up losing it all and found some corn in a field and sold it to people to make her money back.
