I only got a couple albums for Christmas - Icky Thump and Kind of Blue. A trip to the record store is happening this weekend though, they called and left me a message saying they've got a copy of the new Burial EP on hold for me, so I figure while I'm picking that out I may as well browse.
I also need to go to IKEA immediately to get some storage for these things.
Radiohead, prince, muse, chili peppers, etc...and they are lucky if they get 1 mill, but they normally only get 500 k
then you have third tier : snoop, dre, J z...they get 100 k
then you have 4th tier : black keys, munford byoncee, Prince etcc: they get 50k

I found these awesome looking & moderately priced shelves at target like 4 years ago, so I bought two of them. Of course they no longer carry them and my collection out grew those shelves pretty quickly. Next, I bought this awesome case to store my pricier stuff and protect it from dust & cat hair.
I am curious if I could fit the box for a 4x4 Ikea Expedit in my car. I may hit up that Atlanta store either tomorrow before Neurosis or Sunday on the way home. I have came close to getting one delivered, but I just can't justify that shipping cost. I guess $300 shipping wouldn't be too bad if you bought a bunch of stuff from them and you lived as far away as I do from a store, but that shelf is really the only thing I need.

Yeah, IKEA's shipping really undermines the good value of their actual items. Before one opened up close to me, I would rent a truck or van for the day, drive to the NYC store, load up, then come back. Even with gas and rental fees it still wasn't as much as shipping. Now there's one 25 minutes away so I can just take my own truck down there and cram it full of crap.

It's weird - I'm generally a huge food snob, and I tend to always go for organic this and grass-fed that and WHOLE FOODS WILL OWN MY FIRST BORN CHILD but I cannot resist the old-school, turning-on-a-roller-all-day, Ballpark-style hot dog. I could eat like 30 of them.
Sometimes one of the supermarkets near me will have Cub Scouts selling hot dogs out front, for some fundraiser. I will eat two of them before I've even gotten my shopping cart out of the rack. I'm disgusting.

Flanzo, that FlyLo is esssspensive! I was gonna buy it but yeah, little steep for me
Edit: and Lonerism doesn't have a digital download :/ I was disappointed when it came in but bought it anyways

I'll have to order the regular one then. The deluxe one is like 52 I want to say? I forget but it's the only one that's at my local record store. I didn't mind spending 55 on the RSD Nirvana though lol

Another pretty good score today for $15 bucks.
Also found this at a Flea Market during the week for a buck. It's a Led Zeppelin bootleg, it's in really excellant condition and is apparently fairly rare.

First Ikea experience yesterday yielded the purchase of the 2x4 expedit unit. And even then i had to take the shiz out of the box to fit it in my trunk. Now I'm wondering if I could have fit the 4x4 one in there by taking the pieces out of the box. Hopefully I won't have to slam on brakes on the way home today and possibly get decapitated by a piece of Swedish particle board.
First off, I find it amazeballs that you could fit it in better out of the box. Those Swedes know how to pack a box. Second, if you do get decapitated by said particle board, please have someone post a video. With a nice Mastodon soundtrack.

Well, I had to lay my seats down and slide the box from the trunk into that narrow passage to where the seats are lying down and the box was like half an inch too tall. They funny part is that I will probably end up making the attempt to get a 4x4 one the next trip I make to Atlanta, because once my wife and I put it together yesterday evening, we decided to use the 2x4 as the new entertainment center in the living room. The existing one that we had was a nicer more expensive piece, but the 2x4 expedit is more flush to the wall which give us more real estate and the amount of stuff we can fit on that thing is like twice that of what we were using.

The new Third Man Records vault release is announced....looks great for fans of rare Jack White stuff:
The LP for this round of the Vault is the first-ever live show by a short-lived band called Jack White and the Bricks. Featuring Jack White on vocals and guitar, Brendan Benson (the Raconteurs) on guitar, Kevin Peyok (the Waxwings, the See-See) on bass and Ben Blackwell (the Dirtbombs) on drums, the band gigged for only a few short months in 1999. Focusing mainly on covers and White-penned tracks that had yet to have been appropriated by his main concern the White Stripes, this live show took place on White's 24th birthday, July 9th, 1999. Sharing a bill with the Greenhornes, the stage itself was situated on lanes 11-14 (yes, the actual bowling lanes!) of the legendary Garden Bowl in Detroit. While being the longest continually-run bowling establishment in North America, the Garden Bowl, along with the Gold Dollar, was also the de facto home of the then-bustling Detroit garage rock scene. The final song of the night, a blistering cover of Michigan's 60's garage legends ? and the Mysterians "Ain't It a Shame" is to "a girl who has to go get surgery soon"...a heartfelt dedication Jack sent out to band mate Meg White prior to a tonsillectomy operation. The show was recorded to four-track reel-to-reel in lane ten by an engineer who, although forgotten to time, left his imprint on the recording with a few track cut-outs and slight audio imperfections. These mild flaws notwithstanding, the vocal performance is extremely fierce and the show captures all four musicians at the height of the Detroit garage rock scene playing with unbridled energy.

Drawing from that same time period and the same collaboration-happy times this Vault package features the pre-Raconteurs demo of "Steady, As She Goes" by Jack White and Brendan Benson. Recorded at Benson's East Grand Studios in his Detroit home in May of 2004, all the signifying parts of the classic song are existent and there, but it would take the incomparable touch of Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler to get the song to its classic state that fans know and love from the Raconteurs. On the flip side is a full-band orchestration of Jack and Brendan nailing "The Same Boy You've Always Known" in 1999 a full two years before it would appear on the White Stripes "White Blood Cells" album, and in a much different state. This single serves as a wonderful document of the germinations of what would become the fruitful songwriting partnership between White and Benson in the Raconteurs.
The bonus item this go-round is a behind-the-scenes tour travelog film entitled "White Heat" and packaged in a splendid digital versatile disc. Shot and edited by Brad Holland (Whirlwind Heat) the film follows the Heat and the White Stripes on their European tour during the winter of 2002. Backstage tomfoolery, onstage pranks, the Louvre, brief insight into the malaise that is life on the road...it all culminates in a previously unseen live performance by Whirlwind Heat of "The Big Three Killed My Baby" with Jack White as featured vocalist. This is definitely a side of the White Stripes you have never seen before along with explosive and unseen footage of Whirlwind Heat in thier prime.
