Nice collection you've got there. Impressive J Spaceman and Neil selection too. Sorely lacking It Still Moves and Kid A though. How long have you been collecting for? I wish I had as many new records as you do but I just dont have the money for all that, I havent even bought a record in months. That will be changing once channel ORANGE comes out though
I live with my brother and he has both, so it kind of evens out. I'm screwed when either of us moves.
I've been collecting since 2008-ish? Before I paid rent I used to just spend all my work cash on records and gas. Now it's a little tempered but I still spend a lot of my extra cash on records, I love it though. It's honestly one of my favorite things.
(I also don't drink really so I save a lot on not boozing.)
PS How in the hell did you get In Ghost Colours? I've never been able to find that.
Toronto has some great record stores.
I don't think it was ever pressed in the US, so I lucked out finding it years later in Toronto sealed. Modular is kind of sketchy on their pressing availabilities.

Right on. Not drinking (and smoking corn) would definitely result in me buying a lot more records. Also I totally just stole your spine-picture idea as I realized it would be a really cool Facebook cover photo. Here's my version of M-Z:

Ned you're in Detroit right? Where do you shop for new records? I always tear through the used bins at People's Records when I'm home for Christmas, wondering what else I might be missing...
Through August 1, 2012, you can order the second installment in the new Daytrotter Presents Vinyl Series: a 180-gram, 12" split record featuring live recordings by Delta Spirit and Doc Watson!
Purchase an Annual Membership for yourself OR Purchase a Gift Membership for a friend, and we'll send you a promo code that you can use to get the vinyl for FREE! (Shipping not included.)
We will only press as many copies as we receive pre-orders for. In other words, these are extremely rare items, so act now to grab one for your personal collection.

I live 3 blocks away from People's Records so that's where I go for casual shopping. If I'm looking for something in particular I either order it online, or I go to the music store near my parents' house, Dearborn Music.
Also, I've heard there's a pretty good store in Royal Oak. I'm not sure the name of it though..
I actually found these great shelves at Target, of all places. They are a PITA but they look solid. Holds around 500/600 each. They were $70 originally but the Target I went to had them on clearance for $35. I bought all 6 they had.

I may have the same or similar things. I use two bookshelves that I got from Target for about the same price. Also a PITA to put together at first but worth it. I'm always looking at other forms of storage though to see if there are better things
I knew a guy in Portland that made retractable sections in a wall for his CD collection. It was 7 or 8 sections that moved in and out independently of one another. Wicked pricey but I've always been jealous of that.
flea market'd? I'm curious if they're even playable without scratching off the what appears to be stenciled paint on 'em. I'm also curious what the records underneath actually are.
Anyway...I was so jealous of Juggs' score of Baroness' Yellow and Green lmt press that I sniped the exact same one off of ebay last week for $45 (which is not bad b/c I *think* it was $40 on their site before it sold out and it's only available as a buy it now for $55 now). Fuck the split colored ones. The marble full colored ones are just so... It's beautiful.
