not sure if anyone else uses this site, but I started using discogs.com , you can make an account and look for the exact copy of the record you have and add it to your collection. If they don't have it, you can add it to their database too.

www.discogs.com , you just type in the album name and it shows every pressing of the album they have. It shows how many people want the album and how many people have it. People can also sell their albums on there, so you can an idea of what it's worth
While I am envious of some parts of your collection (your Wilco for example) having 7x as many Jimmy Buffett records as You have Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin...
Hahahaha!! Yeah, I'm not sure how the hell that happened...... I think I got them for super cheap or something at a flea market. I texted whoreshack mid cataloging and said "I own more Jimmy Buffett than I care to admit.....".
Nothingbutflowers and I will one day have a Buffett vinyl fest at my house.

Also, this allowed me to see where the gaps are in my collection. I thought I had some Uncle Tupelo, I thought I had more Zep, I thought I had this and that.
My dad is giving me all of his albums, save for the Stones collection because my brother called it. I'll have all of the original presses of The Beatles collection, Zep, etc etc.

I got drunk one night and wasted several hours digging through my records trying to catalog my collection. You can search u:scottwray in the search field on discogs to see my collection. I have most of what I have on there aside from some old beatles albums. I was too lazy to add the pressings I have to their database.

I love Discogs, but it's become a pain in the ass because so many albums have SO MANY different versions. And I'm too anal for this sh*t, I have to make sure that every album I have is catalogued properly with the exact version. Looking up old pressings of Miles Davis albums is a pain in the arse.
Also, I've got a nice wad of cash saved up and a 3+ hour trip to the record store in my future for this weekend. Tres excited.

I gotta admit....I was feeling the itch to do it just by reading others that have done it. Just to satisfy this weird urge to have a full list lol

The worst thing about sorting through all the different versions is that you start to get your hopes up that you scored some super-valuable limited edition, but in the end yours is worth $2.

Got a steal on perfect condition Radiohead "Other Colors...BBC Sessions"
I know it's not an official R-head release... but this is a great compilation of the live bbc sessions and the record sounds great. Totally new take on Idioteque, too. Side one: Everything in its right place-->Follow me around-->Street Spirit fade out-->Exit music for a film-->Like spinning plates. Side two: Fake plastic trees-->No surprises-->Talk show host-->Idioteque-->Black star.
Did I mention lately that vinyl records have completely flushed all other hobbies and interests of mine down the toilet? Yes they have. And I love it.

14.98 plus tax. I gave it "steal" status because I amazon'ed it in the shop and the cheapest copy was going for $40.

Wow. That's what the one I saw was going for too. How's it sound? Maybe ill go pick it up tomorrow.

There is a slight buzz/fuzz from it being a live recording, and I don't think it was mastered by the best.... but once the volume gets turned up you don't even notice.
The biggest selling point for me are the different variations than what we're used to. You are gonna hear the first few bars of Idioteque and go "huh?" but it is an amazing version.
Also, Talk Show Host is extended and the added instrumentation is epic. What's funny is that with the crappy hard to read to font, you cant really tell if it says "Talk Show Host" or "Talk Show Most". I think that was intentional because it really sounds completely different than the studio version.
