I was being a smartass about your fancy & pricey new turntable by suggesting you get a $3500 cartridge to go with it. Then I made a pretty good pun regarding my audio-technica turntable that was apparently only funny to me. I'm just jealous...carry on.
No I was just confused because the RP1 is like $445. Not exactly a bank breaker. And I figured that for anyone looking for a new turntable, getting both the RP1 with two pretty legit LPs for that price was a steal.
Radiohead, prince, muse, chili peppers, etc...and they are lucky if they get 1 mill, but they normally only get 500 k
then you have third tier : snoop, dre, J z...they get 100 k
then you have 4th tier : black keys, munford byoncee, Prince etcc: they get 50k

Yeah, he didn't state whether or not he was getting an RP1 or one of the more expensive models (I mean, the model that I want is $2K if you get the Rega Exact 2 cartridge with it). Someone can purchase a turntable, amp, and speakers for way less than $445. And like NoD said, it'd be kinda pointless to have a Rega turntable pushing it's mojo through a $80 pyle amplifier and $70 sony bookshelf speakers. Therefore, 4 to 10 times the cost of a subpar system is kinda a bank breaker in most people's book when we could blow that money on concert tickets and alcohol instead. Anyway, I'll get off your audiophile diick....you're obviously living the dream. I'll join you in 8 years when that goddang whore, Sallie Mae, gives me the keys to these handcuffs.

Good day at the record store today, tons of good stuff in the discount rack:
Burning Star Core - Papercuts Theater (for 9.99, was 29.99 or so last time I shopped there) Gowns - Broken Bones (Latitudes) Royal Baths - Litanies Traffic - On the Road (live '73) Total Life - s/t (Kevin from Growing)
Due to complications and slight delays at the pressing plant, the vinyl for Local H Hallelujah! I'm A Bum cannot be shipped until Tuesday September 18. We here at G&P Records pride ourselves on timely shipping, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Many of you have pre-ordered with the confidence knowing that you will receive your orders on or before the release date. So, we have come up with a solution that let's you hear the album before your vinyl arrives. G&P Records is sending everyone who pre-ordered vinyl (colored or black) a free one time digital download of the record, and are sending it out a few days early.
edit: well at least now I know what colors they are:

btw before the mods freakout and delete that post it's totally tobacco in there.
BANNED!
jk. whatever.
not sure about the legality of the titties but im pretty sure we've posted that cover in Now Playing before so it should all be good
Art tends to get a pass in most places, right?
Anyway.....I'm dying for new vinyl. I have a few things that I ordered what feels like years ago that I'm waiting on. Avett Brothers new album (yea they're cheesy...whatever), the latest Third Man Record's Vault Release (with an LP of the White Stripes first full show ever and a 7" single of the White Stipes first live performance), and then there's the Daytrotter Vinyl pressing of two sessions - one being a Delta Spirit session and the other being a Doc Watson (RIP) recording.
I have three different purchases that are all taking their sweet ass time getting to me and even though I feel like I'm a pretty patient guy I'm starting to get that itch. I need something new lol.
Such seXXXy packagin' fer the super limited Happy Body, Slow Brain release from inthecloudsrecords.com The 2x LP can be housed in a plastic gatefold filled with water!

welp I missed Amphetamine Reptile's sale of the Melvins Freak Puke vinyl, that happened on the 14th apparently. They sold 300 out of the 1500 printed. The rest will be sold on tour. If they space them out that means they should have around 20 or so of them at each show. It is imperative that I get one of these Quackers: www.shoxop.com/products/melvins-freak-puke-lp them shizs are basically going for $90 each on ebay and I imagine they were like $25 face falue. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=melvins+freak+puke&_sacat=176985&_odkw=melvins&_osacat=176985 All the prints are awesome, but I like this one the best:

I'm not sure of this but I read somewhere that they were being pressed with some different method and that it would make them sound worse than the originals or something. Not sure of the details but I did see some complaints about how they were making them (like what masters they were using or something like that).

Who else is pitching in for the collector's edition of Until the Quiet Comes?
Listening to mine right now. Its a beautifully presented package, nice hardcover foldout with vivid, glossy artwork. The tracklisting is on some sort of nice stiff translucent paper (sorry don't know exactly what it is) , but its just the tracks and credits, no additional artwork. Would have been nice to have a booklet with some additional glossy album art.
I'm glad I own it but overall wouldn't consider it worth the extra cost. But hey if you like nice vinyl things and have the money go for it.
EDIT: the vinyl itself is flat and quiet and sounds fantastic, but I'm sure that is true of the regular vinyl as well.
