Anyone want to sent up a swap? I have plenty of stuff in my collection that's good, but probably deserves a more loving owner than me. I can't be the only one.
Not sure how this would really work. I'm sorta drunk.
Damn I've misplaced my USB camera connection cable...probably already down in my new digs in Raleigh. So I'll take pics soon like I said. But...and this is a but[/b][/u] when I move I'm thinkin' of finally gettin' a record player and may be lookin' fer advice. There is also a chance that I may get to take my father's records and record player when I move or soon after. Either way I will be lookin' fer advice on these topics as my vinyl addiction continues to grow.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
This probably doesn't apply to people in this thread, but anyone looking to buy a new turntable, if you order a Rega from MusicDirect.com they will also send you two free Mobile Fiedlity LPs along with the purchase. It's a pretty solid deal.
That is a great deal. I'm a big Rega and MFSL fan.

Holy Smokes!! They have some nice closeout deals as well. I'm a bit reluctant about building a system myself. I'm pretty inept when it comes to choosing proper speakers and who-whats and what-nots.

I was being a smartass about your fancy & pricey new turntable by suggesting you get a $3500 cartridge to go with it. Then I made a pretty good pun regarding my audio-technica turntable that was apparently only funny to me. I'm just jealous...carry on.

Most Rega stuff is pretty reasonably priced. and AT can get pretty fancy schamncy as well.
Are those all vinyl Impulse records of yours? I have some but not all of those. There was a great book about Impulse called The House That Trane Built.
In a few years down the road, after all the student loans are paid off, I might splurge on that sexy green (or red) RP6.
I bought my P3-24 at a discount when the RP3 was released. I love it. Great sound, great aesthetics. I use a Rega cart, Rega amp, and Rega speakers, and I'm pleased with all my components.

I'm ripping a few off a friend. I own the Charles, Mingus, and Shepp but those aren't all mine.
Yeah, he didn't state whether or not he was getting an RP1 or one of the more expensive models (I mean, the model that I want is $2K if you get the Rega Exact 2 cartridge with it). Someone can purchase a turntable, amp, and speakers for way less than $445. And like NoD said, it'd be kinda pointless to have a Rega turntable pushing it's mojo through a $80 pyle amplifier and $70 sony bookshelf speakers. Therefore, 4 to 10 times the cost of a subpar system is kinda a bank breaker in most people's book when we could blow that money on concert tickets and alcohol instead. Anyway, I'll get off your audiophile diick....you're obviously living the dream. I'll join you in 8 years when that goddamn whore, Sallie Mae, gives me the keys to these handcuffs.

Good day at the record store today, tons of good stuff in the discount rack:
Burning Star Core - Papercuts Theater (for 9.99, was 29.99 or so last time I shopped there) Gowns - Broken Bones (Latitudes) Royal Baths - Litanies Traffic - On the Road (live '73) Total Life - s/t (Kevin from Growing)
Due to complications and slight delays at the pressing plant, the vinyl for Local H Hallelujah! I'm A Bum cannot be shipped until Tuesday September 18. We here at G&P Records pride ourselves on timely shipping, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Many of you have pre-ordered with the confidence knowing that you will receive your orders on or before the release date. So, we have come up with a solution that let's you hear the album before your vinyl arrives. G&P Records is sending everyone who pre-ordered vinyl (colored or black) a free one time digital download of the record, and are sending it out a few days early.
edit: well at least now I know what colors they are:
btw before the mods freakout and delete that post it's totally tobacco in there.
BANNED!
jk. whatever.
not sure about the legality of the titties but im pretty sure we've posted that cover in Now Playing before so it should all be good
Art tends to get a pass in most places, right?
Anyway.....I'm dying for new vinyl. I have a few things that I ordered what feels like years ago that I'm waiting on. Avett Brothers new album (yea they're cheesy...whatever), the latest Third Man Record's Vault Release (with an LP of the White Stripes first full show ever and a 7" single of the White Stipes first live performance), and then there's the Daytrotter Vinyl pressing of two sessions - one being a Delta Spirit session and the other being a Doc Watson (RIP) recording.
I have three different purchases that are all taking their sweet ass time getting to me and even though I feel like I'm a pretty patient guy I'm starting to get that itch. I need something new lol.
