Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
My hubby and I were going to use our tax refund this year for Roo. (about $1500, so $750 a piece) But then we realized we needed a new tent. And sleeping bags (our other ones apparently got moist in storage and molded). And this and that. And my car needs to be inspected and oil change and tires rotated. And, and, and...it looks like we're down to about $150 per person.
So we're bring a little camping stove some bowls and a LOT of Chef BoyRDee, a crudload of frozen water, some beer for him, and that'll have to be it beyond a few party favors and some of those WoNDERFUL lemonades. The rest'll be eaten by gas and the hotel we'll stay in between the ASheville Phish show and the Knoxville Phish show.
Still, one REALLY doesn't need money to enjoy Roo, as long as you can get there, stay fed and hydrated, and get home. We went in '04 with EXACTLY enough money to get there and back. No alcohol (though some guy in Centeroo handed my husband half of a fifth of vodka and then passed out) and no...you know. But the music is really all you need.
Really last year when i ate i spent an average of 8 to 12 dollars and then like bought a few beers in centeroo. 300 should be more then enough for one person. With me and my crew we have 600 we've been saving up in a Roo trust fund, we'll use. But ill bring a extra 150 for my self.
My wife and I are going with $300 cash between the two of us and I wholly expect that it should be plenty. We are bringing food to eat anyway, and if we buy merch we'll probably be able to use cards (she'll want to get official stuff, so whatever works). I'm laying off a lot of alcohol this year cause I really want to experience ALL of the music and be lucid.... don't get me wrong, I'll have a few here and there, but I plan on trying to get a flask in with some whiskey which should work quite nicely.....
Bottom line: Bring your own food to the Roo if you are short on cash
Most definitely. I like to make breakfast and lunch at my campsite, and then have dinner in the festival right before the headliner/during. Then if I get hungry late night... I'll buy a slice of pie.
what's with the dinner at centeroo? what does it consist of?
just about anything you can think of - last year Boz and I split a crawfish po'boy, crawfish jambalaya and followed it with bread pudding with a white chocolate sauce - all for $11.00
I usually bring 500-700 for Roo and that includes my gas money, but Im also a worry wart and cant fathom the idea of something happening out of the ordinary and being stuck without money. Roo can be done for much less, but I also only eat breakfast at the campsite.

Same here. I always bring too much just in case. It's also nice to have money on the way back.
I figure with this paycheck, and my next one - if I take at least 200 bucks out of each one and set it aside for roo........then the girlfriend does the same we will have at least 400 each. That's plenty but then we have some extra money from the parents as a little gift (usually 100 or 200 bucks).
wait. where do i get the gator? im totally gonna get in on this right when i get there. i've always wanted to try some. my gf's gonna be disgusted with me though lol

One of my friends got it at a food stand right when you walk into centeroo. Like once you get past the What stage there was Gator sold there to the left. I'm sure it's at a few spots.

Gator is awesome. From what I remember it's like sweet chicken. I'm sure there will be some sort of tasty glaze on it as well. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!!!
As for the money thing, this will be my first year and I just so happen to get paid on the Friday of Roo so this check coming up will be my last before roo. After rent and general expences I hope to have enough to make it down to roo and through thursday and then when Friday comes around IT"S ON!!!!!!! I've heard that ATM lines can be a pain so I'm kinda worried about that but whatever...you know?
I will probably bring snacks like pop tarts or something fro breakfast and then buy my lunch and dinner in centeroo. I understand the people on a budget and if that was the case for me this year(which it usually is but just so happens not to be right now) I would be a bit more frugal but being at Bonnaroo my first time is gonna be epic and I don't want something like me not having enough cash get in the way of maximizing the fun.
BTW, my crew who all went last year didn't really have any money to do everything they could have and they said that was the worst part of the trip sooooo.....

I am probably only bringing about $50 spending money. That will be enough to buy a $5 tshirt on sunday night, a share of some party favors and maybe some latenight food in centeroo.
That's NOT including gas or food for the weekend. I am bringing all of my food for my boyfriend and myself which will also be about $50 all together but we will buy that before we leave. We will also be drinking the free water all weekend so we don't have to worry about that either. Already have our other camping supplies so we are set other than food!
