Hey kahoops. Is that how you tape your LED hoop too? And it still lets the light through pretty well? This is how I taped my first one - the one that doesn't work. But I don't have my new one taped yet.
The entire thing is covered in clear vinyl. Then glitter and gaffer on top of that.

Yup, except I cover only the glitter in the clear vinyl and then add the gaff on top of it. And the inside is sanded a bit to create a bit of grip instead of using gaff to line the inside like I usually do.
Hey Clairity, how did you get the Post Office to ship the hoops correctly? I'm running into issues with the post office when attempting to ship hoops; basically they want $60-$70 and I'm telling them they are measuring it incorrectly, that it should be like a tire and it still hasn't sunk in with them. What to do?
I'm a super novice hooper (just started a month or two ago) but would love to do some hooping at Roo.
Do you think they'll have extra hoops at the SuperHooper class? I have no idea how I'd get mine on the plane...
Hi, welcome to the thread and to hooping! I would think SuperHooper will have extra hoops for the class; I think someone on Hoop City said there were a bunch of hoops at the Art of Such 'n' Such last year and SuperHooper was there, so I think the hoops were there for the classes? But no worries, one way or another there will be an extra hoop for you to borrow if you need to. :-)

Sorry this took so long. i just got back from Summer Camp. Woo!
I basically wrap mine so it looks like a big brown hula hoop. I use strips of bubble wrap first, then brown craft paper over that. Then I attach the shipping label to a large envelope, and tie it so it hangs of the hoop.
I don't even go to the post office. I just print off the label online - regular package, of course, and schedule a carrier pickup (also online) so the mailman just picks it up when he brings my mail. I never even go to the post office and deal with them. I think sometimes they want to charge it like a large package, but since it's hollow, they shouldn't. It costs me between $5 and $15 to ship depending where it's going.

Glad you had fun at Summer Camp!
That's exactly how I'm going to ship...the P.O. was giving me issues but I educated them with the scan from the 2004 Domestic Mailing Manual that shows a picture of a tire and how to properly measure it. It took me a bit but I finally won! :-)

Cool...thanks! Looking forward to it....15 days!!!
So I finally got it in gear and picked a time for the hooping meetup that hopefully will not be too hot, so here is how I posted it on Hoop City:
Hooping Meet-up on Thursday, June 11 @ 6 p.m. by the Art of Such 'n' Such. Come early, come late, stay for as long as you want -- I'm hoping for a good hour of hooping but if it goes longer, than that's complete awesome!
Superhooper.org will be teaching free hooping classes at the same location, Friday thru Sunday, 6-8 p.m. so it's a great place to meet and hoop all weekend long. :-)
I'll have two of my own hoops there with me and maybe one extra hoop if I can remember to grab it!

Kick ass! One of my friends posted a Pict of me on this boards some time ago and I guess I just saw it.
I will be there. Out of practice though. Moved to a small apartment and don't have much space.

Lovely! I'm so excited to hoop at Roo ;D ya'll just don't laugh at me because I'm obviously very novice!
I hope I can make it to the hoop meetup -- hoping I don't have a shift that day so that I can come! Looking forward to seeing all you lovely ladies at Bonnaroo!

We won't laugh! Hey, I'll make sure you have my number so that if you don't make it up to the meetup, you can text me when you get there. I'm going to switch to my backup phone so that the battery doesn't die on Thursday night (my phone is horrible on the battery).
I've been having issues keeping my hoop at an even level when hooping above my head...could this be because I weighted my hoop when I made it (the tutorial I watched said it would help burn more calories that way) or because I'm doing something wrong? Is this right? I can never tell from the vids I watch

It could be because it is weighted but it is hard to keep it on a completely level plan above the head. Without seeing what you're doing, I couldn't exactly say but try briefly closing your hand around the hoop as it crosses your palm. It helps to keep it even. But ya know, angles look pretty too! Let me know if that helps!
2 more days! I'll see you guys there; I'm coming in Wednesday night but I have no idea where I will end up, LOL. I hope to see ya'll at the hoop down on Thursday night. Oh, and if you're down at the Solar Stage at anytime and the Gypsy Hands Dance group is around, say Hi to Rebecca. She is an awesome hooper and her daughter Sierra is the the lovely little girl who hooped it up on Ellen!

I'm bumping this as well - I ordered tape yesterday and it's on it's way here! I'm super excited! I got sapphire holographic, raspberry holographic, teal gaffer and green gaffer. Can't wait to make my own hoops
Bumping...jealous and excited for my first burn next monthhh!
I built my LED hoop last night...ProdMod is awesome!
Whoa, Clairity! Congrats on the first burn!
BamaDancer, are you doing the Superhooper class in B'ham? We've got 'em this weekend and I'm sooo stoked for my first burn. Pictures & video shall be had!

Gonna buy my first hoop in a couple of weeks when I move in my new house! I'm pretty spastic so I'm sure my boy is gonna get plenty of laughs while I'm learning! Lol. I'm excited about it though!
Saw a better pic (from the same event as the lower pic) in the paper yesterday - she's hooping on the White House lawn there - but couldn't find that particular shot. Regardless, I find this quite intriguing...
